Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, Amalfi Cucina & Mercato - Downtown Atlanta is a traditional Neapolitan trattoria centered around an open kitchen featuring a 6,000 pound wood-burning brick oven imported from Italy. The 170 seat dining room also has large semicircular booths, custom wrought iron chandeliers along with Juliet balconies overlooking an Italian-inspired entryway. Originating in and the true pizza of Naples in the 1600s, Vera Pizza Napoletana is 12 inches or less in size, made from simple fresh quality ingredients from the Campania region of Italy and cooked at temperatures in excess of 900 degrees in approximately 60 seconds. Just launched, a new menu which includes many fresh pastas, salads, appetizers and desserts, including beautiful imported gelato. Enjoy a full bar with local beer on tap, exclusive wine list and specialty cocktails in beautiful Downtown Atlanta.

Olivia was awesome! She provided great service and was pleasant to talk with. The food and drinks were outstanding, another excellent visit!

Greasy, heavy, bland food. Nothing is Italian here. The pizza dow of my Siciliana was a Domino thing than anything Italian, the zucchini flower greasy beignets were stuffed with molten mozza on a bed of pesto - why? Service : I am divided between the muted escort to the table and the nice young lady who salvaged the evening, which I properly tipped. Seating : the chairs are worn out and let me sink below the table which I had at the level of my chest, eating like an animal. Wine: good primitivo at 17 bucks a glass but I never saw the bottle. At that price I would like to see the bottle from which the liquid is poured. Greasy and kitchen smoke abound in the searing area, change your clothes after dinner to feel fresh.

Everyone waited on the food for a whole hour. The waitress was extremely unpleasant. She got irritated when we asked about our food after an hour. They got the order completely wrong and on top of that, the food was disgusting. I have no idea how they had a high rating!

Food was excellent as always. Ate here for three straight days and did not get tired of the place. Great comfort food. However, on my third day eating there, it took forever to get our gelato desert. We could not understand how scooping out ice cream and serving it can take longer than the serving us cooked food.

When we arrived at the restaurant and were being seated, I asked to sit in a booth but was directed to a table at the back of the restaurant instead. I ordered the veal marsala, The veal was a thin piece of tough meat. The risotto was in some type of white sauce that resembled milk and the whole thing was bland and tasteless. The broccolini was mush. One of my guests had chicken Alfredo. The sauce was thin and watery. My other guest had chicken piccata with what appeared to be spaghetti that was way over cooked. In short the food was terrible. The cooks in the kitchen don't know what they're doing. If you want Italian, look elsewhere.
