We appreciate an upscale Italian restaurant in every city. The staff was attentive yet not very experienced. Confidence with a garnish on a drink or have all the ingredients for classic cocktails would have made a difference. The lights could be deemed too as it was too bright and when the restaurant is not full, deemed lights instead of full brown bright, help with the ambience.

Arrived at 7:03 for a 7pm reservation. Was 7-8 minutes waiting until the hostess returned from seating a four top ahead of us. After being shown to our table, we waited 20 minutes + before a server came to the table. When she did, we placed our complete orders for drinks, wine, first/second courses assuming that it would be hard to get the server back again. I don't know if the restaurant is understaffed, lackadaisical or what's going on. We had a party of six. My wife ordered the pasta Norma, an eggplant pasta that was to be served with orrechiete. It came with penne, but no mention of the change was made by anyone. When the entrees finally arrived about an hour and a half after we got there, the food was VERY good. Because it was so late when the entrees arrived, my wife asked for a box to take her food home with her since she couldn't eat much that late. The server must have forgotten. Unfortunate to have such fine food have to deal with the slow service of the evening. While I understand the concept of "island time", this IS a Ritz Carlton and nowhere up to their standards.

Very enjoyable evening. Good food, tasty drinks. Friendly service. Value? Well, food on St Thomas is expensive - but we were prepared.

Overall a great restaurant. A bit slow for service and the meatballs leave something to be desired. But the bruschetta is always delicious!

Gorgeous waterfront location in a beautiful resort. Courteous, polite host directed us to nice table for two. Our server Kayla was everything you could hope for in providing attentive service. The charcuterie board we ordered as an appetizer was excellent. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The salads were blah, and did not resemble their elegant descriptions in the menu in appearance or taste. I ordered garganelli carbonara, which I was excited to try because it must be freshly made and rolled with a special tool to create a tube of ribbed pasta resembling a highly textured ziti. For the price charged, I expected fresh and that's what the server told me to expect. What came was quite a surprise: dried ziti from a box, apparently cooked in water without salt. Carbonaro sauce is made with eggs, hard cheese, fatty cured pork, and lots of black pepper. Imagine my surprise when my dish arrived in what appeared to be an Alfredo sauce without the liberal dose of pancetta I was expecting. There may have been some in the cream, but I could not detect any. This was not a $37 plate of pasta. It was not garganelli, and it was certainly not carbonara. My partner was similarly disappointed with her blah, overcooked tagliatelle Alfredo with scallops. She could not detect any of the pepperoni migas that was supposed to be part of the dish. At that point, we were pretty dispirited after paying the $294 dinner bill. We will not return unless we learn that their kitchen can match the rest of the dinner experience at Allorro.
