This place is outstanding. Every dish was amazing. Started with the grilled avocado- I didn't think we'd love it as it's just an avocado, but the preparation was delicious. Had popovers with smoked butter and strawberry jam - again, amazing. Didn't need the pork belly slices that came with it, but we ate them. Actually, even ordered some to go. Mains of shrimp and salmon, both exceptional. But, the side of hens-of-the-woods mushrooms...wow! Could have fooled me, I thought we were eating bacon. Delicious. Wine was fine - expensive. Non-alcoholic bevs were good. Service was outstanding. Looking forward to the new menu and getting back there soon.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I don't understand why so many people attack them for having poor service or the food not being worth the price. This is the best restaurant in Santa Cruz. I've eaten here many, many times, and the service has always been outstanding and the food has always been outstanding. Yes the steaks, which I generally do not order, are very expensive. That's the real cost of a Wagyu steak. If you want cheap meat, go somewhere else. If you want inventive food with bright ingredients, well-combined into interesting and delicious dishes then come to Alderwood. Honestly, because of the prices here we don't come often - it's more of a special occasion thing. But you can come here for a burger and a beer and get the best burger in town for a reasonable price on any old night. Either way, great experience.

What a meal!! This was my first time at Alederwood. I've walked by 100's of times, but am now back living in Santa Cruz and wanted to take my Mom out for a nice Mother's Day dinner. It did not disappoint. We have the Parmesan popovers and tempura zucchini to start. Both were simply delicious. I got the pork chop and my Mom got the braised pork belly for dinner. Again, they were done perfectly, amazing flavors. To top it all off, my Mom got the creme brulee for desert. She was equally impressed. They service was top notch.

Amazing cocktails. Loved the beef tartare and oysters. Lamb main was a huge portion, and super tender. Scallops were oversalted, but otherwise pretty good. Unfortunately dinner service was a little slow, but the staff was very apologetic and comped us some wine. Would definitely go back next time I'm looking for a special meal in Santa Cruz.

Everything was amazing from the environment, to the service and of course the food and wine. I highly recommend Alderwood to anyone who wants a fine dining experience in Santa Cruz.
