We are dedicated to bringing new flavors to the table with a mix of traditional Italian dishes and reimagined ones.
Chef Antonio will delight you with his cuisine! At our restaurant we offer homemade pasta, locally sourced meat and seafood and authentic Italian recipes. We can’t wait to see you in person at our cozy trattoria and welcome you with our biggest smile!

We also specialize in large group dinners and will create a customized event and menu that fits any budget. Our restaurant can accomodate large parties with full and partial buyouts. We also offer off-site catering. Our “Secret Garden” back patio is the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitivo, a dinner or to invite up to 100 friends to celebrate your most important milestones. My party of 10 was in the neighborhood so we came by on a whim. I wasn’t sure about the place because there weren’t a lot of people in the restaurant. But the service was friendly and quick. The apps and main courses were fresh and delicious. Kids and grandparents were all happy, as well as myself. With 4 glasses of wine, the bill came out to $35 per person after gratuity. Very reasonable for great service and quality. Would definitely come back if we were in the neighborhood again.

This place was terrible! We went for restaurant week, made reservations only to stand in a long line to wait to be seated without asking if we even had reservations..so basically they just sat everyone who showed up regardless. The food took forever to come out. Our appetizers were cold and the main course was bland. Our server didn’t once come to our table to check in with us (we wanted salt to help with the flavor). Then again we sat and waited for dessert. The table next to us got tired of waiting and got up to get their check and didn’t wait for their dessert. I get with restaurant week that places are busy. But isn’t it also for people to try different places to go back to? This experience felt like they just wanted to make $ and didn’t care if anyone would come back. We definitely will not.

First they seated us outside (fine) but table and chairs had been rained on, cloth seats were still damp (actually dripping) we complained and they brought a bunch of cloth napkins to cover them. Improved but no solved. There were two heaters, one did not work. The wait staff seemed really confused most of the time. Food came out in batches, mostly but not all together. Drink service was laughable. Really seemed disorganized and poorly managed. Food was fine, but not special. Overall decent value. I would not go back, way too many good Italian restaurants in San Diego to waste time and money on this one.

Maybe because it was restaurant week, but the food was underwhelming except for the dessert. We had Tiramisu and it was great! However, the gnocchi was very undercooked and my pasta was soupy. Would not recommend the meatballs.

Made a last minute reservation here. Its a cute small restaurant, it felt like i was in a house. Wish i remembered our server’s name but she was amazing, very attentive and gave out good recommendations. Will definitely be back

The penne pasta & king salmon was delicious. The drinks were not so good. Ordered margarita that taste like lemonade & red sangria taste like red wine but overall service & food was outstanding.

We went for restaurant week. Even with a limited menu, they were out of dishes. When it came time for dessert, they were out of BOTH of the two options listed on the menu and gave us a cake that was not on the menu, with no apology. Also charged a 20% auto gratuity for a party of 7, verses the standard 18%. Will not be returning.

The menu was limited and the day I went they were out of bolognese sauce and some wines. Savannah was our server and she was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful- great service. They are so lucky to have her. Garlic bread tasted like toast with cheese - a bit disappointing ! Pastas were average. Meatballs tasted like too much veal. Their desserts were fabulous! Perfect cannolis & the best limoncello cake ever.

Made Reservations for Valentines Day. Showed up 15 mins early and were sat almost immediately! After being seated and almost instantly ordering our food we waited 45mins for our appetizers to arrive (had to re-ask our server). Food was good but service was not good. Likely wouldn’t go again

While understanding it was Valentine's Day, my fiancee and I began our evening with a lot of patience when our table was not ready at our reservation time. We were seated outside instead of inside as requested. Our order was taken quite quickly, however that is where the efficiency ended. It was clear to us that Al Dente had overbooked and were understaffed. Our main course arrived before our first course and we only received our starters when we asked the food runner for them and alerted him that we had never received them. My meal was cold upon arrival and my fiancee's steak was so rare it was inedible. After almost 30 minutes of no one checking in on us, another sever came to check in and thank goodness she was sympathetic to our situation and adjusted our bill to reflect the poor quality of food and service. After an hour, a couple next to us had yet to receive their first course and the couple on the other side had been waiting close to that amount of time to receive their main course. We were excited to try a new restaurant and were intrigued by the menu but unfortunately we will not return.

First, I need to say that I like Al Dente and have had a good experience in the past. This time though they took on more than they could handle and every thing suffered. The crowd was just overwhelming for a relatively small kitchen and the poor wait staff tried to compensate but were unable to create what didn’t exist. The food was still good but not great. The fish was good but not hot and a little too salty. Worse was a confusing check. The Valentine’s Day menu claimed to be a fixed price menu where you choose. Three items at 39.95 per person . The only thing we added to that were two glasses of the house wine and somehow the bill came out to $186. I don’t know if they charged us a La carte prices or if some things on the so-called fixed price menu were not a fixed price. We tried to call the restaurant to ask for an explanation, and they never answered the phone. So overall not satisfied this time and we’ll wait a little while before going back.

The service was terrible. 2-hour wait for a the main dish and it wasn’t that good. Why did it take 2-hours? The waitress ignored us and never asked to refresh our drinks. I had to ask for the main dish, desert, and the check and was blown off each time. Won’t come back!

Service 5-stars / from host through server & runners, everyone was top of their game Ambience 5-stars / really fun atmosphere, lots of groups. Espresso Martinis 5-stars / probably the best I’ve had? Seriously. Appetizers & Dessert 4-stars / get the party board for the table! Main Course Entrees 1-2 stars (pasta was uneven across all our dishes. Cacio e Pepe tasted like it was drenched in oil, and was served with basic spaghetti noodles, not bucatini as advertised; Bolognese was great but the pasta was way over cooked and mushy; Ravioli ordered by 3 people, each was a wildly different temperature). Overall - we had a GREAT night, highlight was the service and drinks, lowlight was the entrees.

We ate outside and the noise level was low, however, we could see that it was noisier inside. The heaters outside do a great job keeping the area warm. Dining here was a very pleasant experience.

Beautiful ambience, comfortable seats, loved the gnocchi and the wine selection. The staff was unbelievably sweet and attentive and surprised us with a complimentary limoncello cake at the end. One of the best desserts I have ever had! Will be back soon 😄

It’s a cute establishment and the staff is friendly. I’d recommend trying this restaurant at least once and make your own decision. However, I’d highly recommend NOT ordering the cheese wheel pasta which was $65 ($55 for the pasta and $10 for the 6 little shrimps). Definitely not worth it at all. I’ve had waaay better cheese wheel pastas for less than half the price. My friends and I were extremely surprised about the cost of the dish so we had to ask if they had double charged us. I had dined at more high end restaurants, including many Michelin star restaurants, and still haven’t paid that much for any kind of pasta. They claimed pasta has truffle in it… Forget about the taste, it didn’t even smell like it had truffles in it. I pretty much order mostly truffle dishes as I love truffles, and generally you can smell it from a mile away when they actually use truffles, I know I exaggerated a bit but you get my point. For that price, you’d expect black truffle shavings on top, but nope it didn’t. The dish has the truffle in the name of it and that’s all you are getting and paying for $65 to see the cheese wheel for 1 min while they prep your dish. I would have appreciated if they had communicated their high price for the cheese wheel pasta as the other dishes are reasonably priced so none of us expected this this dish to be 4 times higher than the other dishes on the menu.

Service was nice but overall experience subpar. We were seated at the back of the restaurant and could smell cigarette smoke from when the chef stepped out for his break. The entrees came out before the bruschetta appetizer. Powdered Parmesan was on the pesto pasta which didn’t seem authentic. The Margherita pizza was basically a cheese pizza.
