Chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee have over 25 years of combined experience in Japanese cuisine and sushi. They established their culinary careers in Houston where they worked together for years before creating their own restaurants.

Pham and Lee teamed up to bring new curated dining concepts to Houston’s food scene and kicked off a series of omakase pop-up dinners called Secret Taste. Pham and Lee then opened Kokoro in the Bravery Chef Hall in Downtown Houston followed by Handies Douzo in the Houston Heights.

Aiko is the newest concept from the team featuring a sushi bar and seated dining.

We had the Mothers Day special omakase and it was incredible. Everything about our experience was spectacular. We also really enjoyed the friendly staff and the lively atmosphere.

This was a second visit and it once again did not disappoint. Dined at Aiko for my daughter’s birthday and let me tell you everyone was top notch. The staff and service were absolutely incredible and their suggestions for ordering were spot on. The service delivery and food timing were perfect. We all felt very much appreciated and several, unexpected complimentary items were provided for the special occasion. Highly recommended coming here for the freshness, quality and unique presentation of the each dish that was provided. Thanks for a great experience!

This restaurant is a neighborhood gem for us! Food, ambience, service… can’t beat it. Last night we were greeted and had a fabulous conversation with the General Manager Jason, elevating our experience at Aiko. We come often and visit Kokoro when downtown too! Please go! Say hello to Chef Michael and try the Japanese melon…holy moly!

TLDR: Not that great, expensive for a filling meal, interior a bit off. Overpriced for its quality. Hard to criticize sushi in general, but theirs was inconsistent at best. Different bites of the same dish would differ in terms of saltiness, with some portions way too salty, and the others pretty solid. Chicken Karaage was also extremely salty. Interior is ok - weirdly the walk to the bathroom is the coolest part. In a good location though.

We had a wonderful experience last night at Aiko. Maya took care of us and we could tell from the moment she first greeted us that she was proud of the quality and culinary treat we were about to experience. We ordered a few appetizers and then decided to go with the Omakase menu. Start to finish - outstanding meal. The way they really honor the freshness of the fish and seafood by allowing you to taste - but then complemented it so perfectly with a simple and delicate enhancement. Maybe a bit of citrus zest or a drizzle of truffle oil without competing with or overpowering the fish. Everyone we interacted with at Aiko was wonderful. Maya was incredibly personable and took time to answer questions, share her personal favorites and despite being very busy took the time to converse with us on a personal level too. The manager also walked around quite a bit greeting us and other customers and ensuring we were having a good experience. We will definitely be back to Aiko!

I went to Aiko to celebrate my birthday and had the absolute best time! The food was amazing (such fresh sushi and so many great flavors), but what really stood out was the outstanding service. Each of the staff were so warm and inviting, making a point to check on us frequently and provide backstory on the omakase. Would highly recommend!

It's all in the details. Having had sushi around the world, understanding that sushi is meant to be savored. Every bite. The sushi here has so many complexities that as you eat, there's a new flavor to enjoy. The appetizers, the sushi, the rolls and the expanding wine selection hits all the right notes. Experiences like this can't happen enough.

Only negative was that both wines on HH were unavailable and no equivalent alternatives were offered. Server suggested a ~$20 per glass option as substitute.

Loved this place! We sat at sushi bar and had a great experience with head chef Michael. The whole team includingJo and Jason were on top of it. All the fish was super fresh. We will be back!

Excellent food and drinks. Easy valet parking. Casual dress but you can also dress up. Service is outstanding. Nice date night place or celebrating with friends. Small dining area so can tend to get loud.

Top notch for quality of food, wervice and ambiance. The most important for all restaurants should start with the quality of food. Mind you, we're talking sushi here. Having lived in Chicago, NYC and Houston while also having sushi in Japan several times, it's a misconception that the size of the pieces or the rolls make a good sushi spot. After my visit here, I was reminded of Japan and it was the delicate taste that mattered. If you want quantity, I am sure that there's a conveyer belt place not too far.

Aiko was amazing, will definitely be back. We got several martinis edamame several Nieri’s and some rolls — all were delicious. The ambiance in particular was also lovely, it’s got a lovely lounge feel. Several couples on dates and friend groups enjoying dinner together. Noise was not intolerable, though I think it could have been a little quieter. Honestly I think my new favorite sushi place!!

My partner and I sat at the sushi bar for a date night! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with such warmth. We had to wait a few minutes in the lounge for our spot to open up at the sushi bar but the host made it a point to get drinks started for us. Once at the sushi bar we were greeted by AK San our sushi chef for the evening! When I say she went above and beyond to make our experience special it’s an understatement. We had such a wonderful experience with her and the rest of the chefs! Steven also made two amazing nigiri for us! Jesse, Jesus, Luis and Jeff were also very welcoming and made our time a blast! Jason and Joe came by a few times and introduced themselves and were so informative of this space and the restaurant and we had great conversation with them! It was extra special to get to meet CJ and his wonderful wife Chi! All in all was a top notch date night! Wonderful food! I had the omakase and my partner did some maki. Both were delicious and awe inspiring! Drinks were crafted perfectly. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis. Thank you again for everything!

Everything about this place was extremely impressive — staff, cocktails, quality fish, ambiance, overall experience — and I will definitely return if/when back in Houston. We sat at the bar and had a great time. The staff was welcoming and professional. Highly recommend their tasting menu — best overall value I’ve ever had for a sushi restaurant.

My sushi world has been rocked. This was the most amazing food I have had in a very long time, I cannot stop thinking about it. I also don’t know how I will ever have regular sushi again! The dressed nigiri was to die for. Incredible.

We chose it because it was near where we were at dinner time and because it received good ratings. It didn’t disappoint. The food and drinks were delicious. We would definitely go back!! Very cool place and unique menu items.

Aiko is a terrific sushi restaurant. The quality of the fish and the service were both exceptional. The only minor knock on the experience was that the volume of the music was a bit too loud. Yes, it had to compete with conversations across the dining room, but I think the volume of all the diners' conversations were elevated in response to the music. It wasn't so distracting that it really affected the meal. However, it was noticeable; particularly as we arrived. Despite the noise, I'll still return and I highly recommend the restaurant.
