Book in advance to treat yourself and your friends to some great conversation and a chance to catch up over Afternoon Tea at the Inverness Palace. The tradition started in early 1800’s with the Duchess of Bedford having that “sinking feeling” in the afternoon as it was normal for only 2 meals a day. The Duchess started the tradition of a pot of tea and a light bites which she later went on to invite friends too attend at Woburn Abbey. The concept of “afternoon tea” took off an became part of high society!

Beautiful spot overlooking River Ness. The sandwiches and sweets were very good. You don’t have a choice of teas and get whatever they’re serving which was a little disappointing. Overall, it’s a really nice afternoon tea.

Enjoyed our visit. Had beautiful view of the River Ness. Was not busy so venue was quiet. Excellent service.

Unfortunately due to an error on the part of the hotel they did not realise that it was an intoxicating afternoon tea and also that I was lactose intolerant along with not being able to have coconut or kiwi. These matters were mentioned in the booking which I made almost 2 weeks beforehand. The booking said I should expect a phone call from the hotel before we went but because this didn't happen I took it that it was okay when it actually wasn't. However manager Emily went above and beyond to make sure I had something I could eat. Emily is a great credit to the hotel. Because this was their error we were offered a 2nd pitcher of cocktail or teas and coffees at no extra cost. They also gave us 10% off the bill which was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our afternoon tea after the hiccup and sat in a window table overlooking the river and Inverness Castle.

Staff thought we were there for lunch but we booked afternoon tea. This was my third afternoon tea and I was really disappointed. The last twice was lovely but this one was awful. Two finger sandwiches each, cold sausage roll. Not happy but after a 50 minute wait we were hungry.

Very poor quality afternoon tea - chicken and dill sandwich was a blob of chicken and mayo on an unbuttered bit of bread, cakes were shop bought and cut in half to stretch them out to feed two, clotted cream with scones was whipped cream and sausage roll looked like a shop one cut in slices - very disappointing for such a nice location and rather spoilt a special occasion

Lovely afternoon tea for Mother’s Day. Food was fab, great selection of savouries (including for a veggie) and just delicious cakes.

Food was good in the main but stingy with cream and jam. Individual jam portions - we were given 3 between 4 of us and a very small portion (which would have been suitable for 1) between the 4 of us. They were clearly short staffed and we had to wait a while and couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for more cream and jam. The carrot and pistachio cake was superb and so were the scones.

Very small amount of savoury’s Scone had been in the fridge so was very cold Some of the cake selection was chewy Shame it always liked nice when passing, maybe just an “off day” Service was good and friendly
