Adalina is a refined hospitality destination serving a modern and engaging Italian menu in a timeless yet alluring setting in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Led by Michelin-starred chef Soo Ahn. Adalina’s menu creates a balance between Northern and Southern cuisine, providing expertly staged shared plates along with strong statement items that satisfy a table. Went for the happy hour, so take this review with the grain of salt when it comes to food. I’ve never been to a $$$$ restaurant with worse service. The waitress clearly didn’t want to be there. Our oysters had chunks of shell in it. Nobody came by the table after we shared feedback with one of our waiters. The GM continued to stare down our table without saying a word, and one of the busers rolled their eyes after we told them for the 5th time we were still working on our appetizers. I will say …they did take six dollars off the check for the oysters which we really didn’t care about. It was more so about being heard and having some sort of hospitality experience especially for the ambience and price you pay. Disappointed as this has been on my list for the past few years and we work in the neighborhood.

The food was exceptional. The service was really poor. There was a long (and unacceptable) wait to order drinks and food. Our server was pleasant and tried hard. But he seemed to working a large number of tables just by himself with no help. Took well over 2 hours for dinner. Very unexpected experience.

Great service. Good drinks. Pretty average food. Short rib was undersalted and pretty dry. Pasta was fine. Menu read better than tasted.

My scallops were cold. They charged $3.00 to have ice cubes put in my husband’s scotch. They are a la carte and the side dishes were very limited.

Not impressed with the food or service. We went for Mother's Day brunch and somehow, they messed up a Bagel and Lox. We got the bread appetizer and the dish way too salty that the bread for 2 people, we could not finish with 6. We also got the Burrata and the strawberries looked canned. Would not recommend this dish - flavors did not go well together and the dish ended up being way too sweet. and The service was slow and the food was so average and even worse considering the price.

We went for Mother’s Day and we really enjoyed ourselves! The bottomless mimosas were great! The food was delicious and our waitress Mara was amazing! She was super nice and attentive. I’m really happy I picked Adalina to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Enjoyed Mother’s Day lunch with delicious food and attentive staff throughout restaurant. Our waiter was exceptional and made the dining experience feel special. The burrata appetizer was outstanding! And tiramisu dessert most originally prepared and amazing!!

We had a wonderful dinner and the service was efficient and our server explained everything very well. The short rib was tender and the soubise sauce was a great compliment. The prosciutto with whipped ricotta was a great way to start. Branzino was very well done and would order again. It is quite loud in there so for the hard of hearing it might be a challenge.

When our server learned it was our first visit, we were treated to a Prosecco toast. Everything about the experience was amazing: how the food was paced, accommodations for a gluten intolerance, and the deliciousness of each dish we experienced from the oysters to the green beans with pasta and branzino in between. We will definitely be repeat customers.

An otherwise great experience was lessened by how loud it is in this restaurant. We could hardly hear the server right next to our table, and my parents couldn’t hear much of anything. Too bad, as the food and service were very good.

I was frankly a little disappointed in Adalina. The food was ok - peel the asparagus stalks, for Pete's sake! - and he server was attentive, but he recommended the *most* expensive items, regardless of what we described he wanted. The shrimp pasta and branzino were terrific, the bread/ricotta/honey/prosciutto was pretty good if a little messy; and the short rib was better the next day as leftovers. I spotted Top Chef contestant and Executive Chef Soo at a table, he looked tired and the dining room was packed, so I didn't bother him. I don't know, maybe just an off-night all around? I'd try it again.

First the setting on the second level offers softer views of the city and not the hustle of a busy street. The ambience is beautiful with glistening chandeliers and soft upbeat music playing. The waiting staff is very informative of the menu and helped explained items after asking about any dietary restrictions. Our waiter informed us of the speakeasy downstairs which we will definitely have to return for. They offered non alcoholic cocktails which had just as much flavor if not more than the boozy options. Bread service is a must and the pasta tasted authentic.

The food was okay. I have the short rib and it was filled of fat and dry. The potatoes were rubbery. The server did not take it off the bill. Also we were a party of 10 and were sat at a long table, couldn’t really talk to everyone. The restaurant is very loud, I was losing my voice afterwards because it felt if I had to scream for anyone to hear me .

I love that there are windows that open. We really enjoyed the food. It was a bit pricey and the noise level was pretty high, but we could still carry on a conversation. The wait staff were very attentive without being cloying. We're looking forward to going back.

I had organized a mother's day lunch. The restaurant itself was rather quiet but it was lovely. We were not rushed and the staff were super friendly. It would have been nice to have more vegetarian options. The options I did get to taste were absolutely divine.

It’s a beautiful space but it so loud. It was impossible to have a conversation at the table. This would not be a good date spot on a Saturday night.

Had an excellent time in the bar bpoth, great to carry on conversation. Wait staff so attentive, and even accommodated us by turning on bar TV to watch the NFL Draft! The bartenders are excellent. the flavors in everything we ordered was fantastic! Adalina is always a fav place of our to bring our friends.

Celebrated my birthday here and I enjoyed it so much. It was my first time here, food was delicious, atmosphere was nice. My boyfriend and I greatly loved the cocktails made by our bartender/server Claudia, she was excellent. She provided amazing service, answered our questions about the menu, super friendly and sweet. I will be coming back for sure!
