Aburi refers to the technique of torching fish, enhancing its flavor by lightly searing it. This process not only brings out the fish's taste but also benefits from the use of premium Japanese white oak charcoal, imparting a subtle smokiness & effectively filtering out torch-related gases. Aburi involves a gentle searing, leaving the fish partially cooked.

Hailing from Houston, a city renowned for its cultural diversity, our restaurant draws inspiration from this multicultural hub. Despite our Japanese name, our culinary concept transcends borders, aiming to showcase a medley of global cuisines, mirroring the diverse food scene of Houston.

Fresh fish is flown in directly from Tsukiji Market, Japan.

One of the best hidden gems in Houston !! This is a must eat sushi place . Also the Miso Glazed Sea Bass is a must . 5 star restaurant.

There were 4 of us. We came with an open mind and great interest due to the favorable ratings. We ordered many different dishes hoping to get some great ones in the mix. Our hopes were dashed. Some dishes were mostly ok, but none were good. Most dishes were simply bad. We ordered sushi, a roll, sashimi, a soup, cooked salmon, and multiple other sides. Some "hot" food was cold. The "hot" dishes seemed like they were preprepared and left under a warming light for some time or reheated - none tasted freshly cooked. Some of the fish smelled fishy, some -like the large shrimp - smelled bad. The scallop was sour and inedible. The Chutoro, which we always like, tasted unpleasant - we assume it was just too old. But all the fish tasted old to us. No dish had great match of fish and seasoning. All of the tuna, rolls and other sushi and sashimi tasted mediocre at best, and really not worth eating at any price. Yes - all the fish tasted sweet but not with the sweet taste of fresh fish. Rather all were evidently sweetened with sugar to make old or previously cut fish seem fresher I guess? Several dishes were inedible. None were enjoyable. Some of the "hot" food was greasy but without much flavor. This is the worst meal we recall having in Houston in the last 10 years. Everything was so far from being good that we had no words to speak with the cook or manager. We arrived home feeling like we wished we had not eaten any of the dishes. So we offer this feedback in the hopes that those at this restaurant who were evidently able to produce food that gained them good reviews might take stock. We hope that perhaps things could be rescued or at least put back onto the right path. But for what we had tonight, this is a meal we would have paid to have not eaten, and we were super hungry. So a lot would need to be done to make the current enthusiastic ratings even semi-logical.

Brought two new people into the restaurant today and their reviews were just as amazing as mine! Consistent fabulous food, fabulous service, and great ambience. The entire staff is fabulous.

Please do not overlook this sushi/strip mall gem. Very high quality sushi and unique preparations. Quality is right there with Kata but without the front office hassle and noise; but with significantly more creativity. Love it.
