Aboyer (ab-wah-yay), meaning, “to bark,” is a French-American brasserie as imagined by Chef Michael Lachowicz. Aboyer wakes up the senses with a sexy, energetic vibe. Refined French pub-grub served alongside craft cocktails & wine in the contemporary space exudes a nouveau-bistro style.

Located in the heart of Chicago's North Shore, the menu features starters such as Potato & Truffle Soup, Charcuterie, and Rabbit & Sage Sausage to main courses including Coq au Vin, Cassoulet, Faroe Island Salmon and more.

Reservations are recommended; walk-ins are welcome. Aboyer requires a credit card to secure all reservations. Please note that reservations cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled booking will incur a $25 per guest cancellation fee & no-shows will be billed at a rate of $50 per guest.

I dined at Aboyer last night (Friday 5/31) because of the soft shell crabs special entree they were serving! It was absolutely DELICIOUS! I had it along with the goose foie gras appetizer, a truffled corn soup, and sides of asparagus and their heavenly, creamy whipped potatoes (pomme puree)! The whole meal was spectacularly fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented! So glad I’m on Aboyer’s email list so I can catch those specials —they never disappoint!!!

The food was very good. The service was terrible. We waited 50 minutes for our appetizer. When we asked for two additional pieces of bread it never came. I had asked for a glass of red wine with dinner. That never came either . The server never checked on us and we had to waive him down to get our check. We also used our debit card to avoid the 4 percent charge but we’re still charged this cost even though we used a debit card vs credit card. In short, the food was good but service poor. Will not come back

GREAT TIME last night at Aboyer! The food was spectacularly delicious, fresh and flavorful, plus beautifully presented! Loved the escargot and goose foie gras appetizers; the rack of lamb and sausage entree; and the lemongrass cheesecake dessert!!! My friend loved her steak! The sides of puréed potatoes and green beans were fantastic too! Stephanie was wonderfully accommodating, personable, knowledgeable and professional! Angel did a great job keeping our water glasses filled and table cleared of any unneeded dishes and glasses! We will definitely be back! Been dining here since the George Trois days in 2016/2017! Wonderful to have also seen Alfredo too! Hope Sergio is back soon!!!

I love Michael’s specials. Tonight’s was hot honey fried chicken with a side of mac n cheese in a French onion soup. The latter is a bit deceptive in that it was gourmet mac n cheese ala penne. Yum-mo! Doesn’t sound very French who cares? It was fab. The chicken was fried 2x and had a gooey sweet sauce with a bit of a tang. I looked around and all 5 tables on the “booth”wall had the chicken and you could hear raves reverberating up and down the banquet. One woman said it was the best meal she’s had at Aboyer. (Stick around, sister. Michael continues to outdo himself. ) Never had a bad meal here. Never disappoints. Burp.

We have been going on special occasions for a number of years. The food is always delicious, with depth and differential of flavor. Served beautifully with French service and always well cared for. Although we spent $$$'s, it doesn't need to be expensive, just pregame at home and skip the beverages.

Enjoyed Aboyer restaurant. Walking in, were greeted with live music. Family oriented restaurant with a French menu. Food was high quality; we had cocktails ( French 65 and Kir Royale) then started with the bread service ( worth it since we kept some bread for dipping in the entrees’ sauces) and mixed green salad with poached pears and candied walnuts and blue cheese. Entrees were chicken with gnocchi and morel mushrooms, and butter poached prawns on a bed of polenta accompanied by sautéed spinach. Rich! Dessert looked appetizers with options such as pot de crème and crème brûlée, among others, but we were done eating. Overall was a very nice experience - and the intermittent live music provided a festive mood. PS. The special burgers on the menu our neighbors ordered looked awesome!

First time I’ve been there when they had music. The woman singer and guitarist accompanying her were excellent (& I have performed myself). Food and service were excellent as always.
