This was my first time here. I have been eager to try it. The food and atmosphere was really good. The place filled in as we sat there which was nice. The service could have been better to match the rest of the restaurant. Our drinks took forever and we got our appetizer prior to them. The appetizer was awesome along with the drinks once they arrived. Besides that, a great little spot that I will definitely revisit.

As we sat at the table, the waiter let us know at the start that we have 1.5h only before another reservation pressing us to order. The food was mediocre- looked great but had no flavor. Ambiance is great but food lacks complexity and is not worth the price.

The thing that stuck with me the most is the ambiance of the restaurant. It's simply beautiful. There's so much to look at and so much to see - I couldn't get enough. The restaurant being beautiful is not to say that the food didn't live up to the space - the food was delicious. Italian and some French selections were present throughout the menu and nothing disappointed. There was an extensive wine and cocktail selection with varying price points, providing plenty of options. All in all - a great place. We will definitely be back.

Pricey for the portions, drinks were okay and so was the food.. I recommend checking about the portion sizes with the server before putting in the order

I requested a private area and was in the front room, scallops ($41) didn’t really have any flavor, and food took a long time to come out. We had a good night but for the price this was disappointing.

Crab cakes delicious. Oysters fresh. Ran out of lobster early into dinner window in Boston?!! Halibut was overcooked and dry. Scallops were too garlicky & overdone, so was the risotto. Service was spotty, possibly overwhelmed kitchen.

The restaurant is super cool. We went on Mother’s Day. It seemed like the kitchen was overwhelmed as they were out of many menu options. Food we received was “fine” They had recently received a good review from The Boston Globe which is why we went. I truly believe that restaurant got too much good press which caused the issues we had. I will definitely give it another shot in a few months as I think we caught them in a bad spot.

Had really looked forward to going here and was unfortunately was very disappointed. Our waitress was incredibly cold and dismissive, not attentive at all. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the muffin was fully burnt.

Super cute place in Beacon Hill… decor is perfect, food is great! Service is adequate, a bit slow as the night wore on, but over all fine.

From beginning to end, our evening felt so special - the sumptuous, intimate decor, how we were greeted at the door and our table, the tempting choices on the menu, and of course, the food itself. We shared a Ceasar salad, my husband ordered the most astonishing stuffed veal chop, and I was delighted with my scallops and creamy risotto. Chocolate cake (complete with a lit candle as it was my husband's birthday), key lime pie, and cappuccino were the perfect ending to a perfect evening. We loved being carried away from life's everyday responsibilities to being exquisitely cared for in a gorgeous environment. It was truly a feast for the senses!

Cool, funky, eclectic dining room with a laid back vibe (we were there for brunch). Our server was excellent, and the food was quite good. Great spot for brunch for sure!

The restaurant was overbooked and it seemed not to be a case but a common habit. We waited 45 mins to be seated whit different versions of excuses from the concierge. The restaurant was extremely noisy. The waiters were sorry and suffering the management.

We had a 7:30 reservation (showed up at 7:25) however we weren’t seated until 7:55. All the tables around us were served drinks before we even had our drink order taken it was over an hour before we were served dinner.

Could have done with the waiter coming a little quicker between courses/drinks but not too bad. Some members at the bar were a little louder than acceptable due to the bruins game

Delicious cocktails, so good! I got the 1928 signature drink. Food was decent, wish they had more vegetarian options, more pasta options. I had salmon with potatoes, only bit dry. Wish they had gravy but otherwise, love the decoration and the service. I loved how this restaurant is a woman owned. Love supporting other women! More power to her! Will visit again.

Awesome place and what a find! The location is super cute, just off a side street in Beacon Hill. Fun interior with comfortable seating and great vibe. Service was excellent - we had a great start with the Crab Cakes (wow) and then an excellent salad. Steak Frittes were excellent and Cacio e Pepe was also excellent. Nice cocktail list - wines by the glass were a touch expensive, but great selection. Would return and 1928 will be on our rotation if near Beacon Hill.

The interior was charming and our server was very good. There was a loud party seated next to us who fortunately departed halfway through our meal, since they made conversation difficult. We were there for brunch which was fine for the price point.

Great spot for any occasion. Super cute moody vibes inside. Very nice server and services. Generally not too loud, although we had a loud table near by who would laugh quite loudly at times. Music was Italian and super pleasant!

Had a lovely anniversary dinner. Food was amazing to even the last drop of sauce soaked up with bread from the Lobster Tortillini. Also had the scallops with risotto. All tasted fantastic. Service was top notch. Ambiance was great and happy that we stumbled upon this spot as we were from out of town.

The former Lala Rohk on Beacon Hill is now called 1928, and the transformation is exciting. A dark and sexy speakeasy ambiance combines with truly exceptional American cuisine, served with the kind of snappy professionalism you'd expect from a dining room that serves $50+ entrees. We loved the menu (especially the crab cakes and the half portions of housemade pasta) and were impressed with the wine list. On a bustling Sunday evening, quiet conversation was possible. This is often not the case, but the owner has made every effort to keep the rooms subdued and flatteringly lit. Two minor things to note: parking in that residential neighborhood is a nightmare, and, desserts are its weakest link, so head elsewhere after your meal for ice cream or pastries.

I love this resteraunt, the food is delicious and the vibe is great. I had never been seated in the very back room and never want to sit there again. It doesn’t have the same ambiance as the rest of the restaurant and it was so noisy that 4 of us had to scream at on another to converse.

The food and service were phenomenal. I can’t stop thinking about the stuffed veal chop, it was to die for. The Spanish octopus appetizer was so unbelievably tender. The customer service was also outstanding. They only had an opened bottle of the wine we ordered so they gave it to us on the house. Our waiter was also excellent and very knowledgeable. All around amazing experience.

We were told if we were late we will be asked to leave by a designated time. We were on time. Our food was an hour late and we had to stay for 2 hours in 15 minutes makings us late for our next appointment. We were celebrating our daughter’s bday. When the food finally arrived after several requests for the food to come- my food was cold. For the steak frites, the fries were oily cold and came in different sizes. The bday cake I had ordered ahead of time came last minute after we informed our waitress we were late for our next appointment. The fact that the food was late, the cake came at the last minute, and the service was poor, diminished the celebration. This place did not meet our expectations.

The staff were INCREDIBLE! The Easter bunny was there along with giveaways and live baby ducks! Everything was decorated beautifully. So much fun!

Fantastic brunch. Such a cool space. My wife is still raving about the decor. The food was fantastic and our waitress was friendly and attentive. It was our first time dining at 1928. We can’t wait to go again.
