This was our second time at 1700, and we were sadly, quite disappointed. Our first visit was wonderful, so going back to celebrate my husband‘s birthday was a no-brainer. The service is exemplary there but our meal this time was very disappointing. Our filet mignon was, just OK, it had a strange outer texture and was not as tender as it was on our first visit. My husband got the truffle mac & cheese, which was neither macaroni nor cheesy. It was rotelle pasta on a thin creamy sauce, basically flavorless, I was grateful I got the garlic mashed potatoes, which were lovely. I don’t know if we’ll go back there again because it is quite pricey and this time around was definitely not worth the money.

Food was good. Not great. Service was amateur hour. They cleared plates of some at table while others were still eating. They allowed people at tables to talk on phones. Not worth the price.

Great TX style steakhouse. Excellent service. Timely seated at reservation time by friendly hostess. Water was well trained, friendly, and knowledgeable about menu. Inside the Paso del Norte hotel. Wonderful setting. Really enjoyed our meal and dining experience. Highly recommend.

We came to the restaurant to celebrate to important birthdays. We wanted the evening to be special. We have been there in the past as a family and really enjoyed it. We did not enjoy our evening. The service was largely non-existent. We were one of two parties in the restaurant so it wasn’t due to the staff feeling stretched. Over the course of the evening we had to get up and asked for our plates to be busted, ask for more water, bread and wine. We poured all of our wine no staff came back to ensure a natural flow. It was a bit exhausting. Based on the service we receive and how expensive the meal was for that service. I would not consider returning.

So much promise. The service was great. But for the money I would highly recommend perfecting the kitchen craft. If you charge premium prices for a steak you must know how to prepare properly at all temps. Also, if you give melted butter with your chilled crab legs, you cannot put the butter ramekin in a bed of ice. Just my thoughts.

I was really looking forward to a great experience. What a disappointment !! My wife’s food was ok. But I ordered the Cesar salad the bone in rib-eye and the half lobster tail. The salad was salti and no flavor. The rib-eye was dry not tender and lacked flavor the lobster was over cooked. I returned my dinner. Our server was terrible had to look for him. I would not return to this restaurant

Parking availability was good, however I paid a $15 fee for that was being charged for the baseball game held the same night. I was not there for the game. The 1700 Steakhouse was excellent the same as last year and looking forward to spending our anniversary there again next year.
