Studio Gauthier is the exciting new project from Alexis Gauthier, taking over the unique and beautiful setting of the BFI building in Fitzrovia. Beautiful velvet booths meet austere concrete and California colours with a large open kitchen to see everything the chefs are preparing. The 100% plant based menu features, for the first time, Gauthier Soho level dishes in a less formal and more wallet friendly environment, perfect for a fun evening with friends.

To be honest, I and my daughter left feeling extremely underwhelmed. When we entered the restaurant we haphazardly greeted by a member of staff and shown where to sit. The seating was comfortable and we were very pleased. The menu has a few options so we both went for the bottomless although my daughter did not want to but we were told that all parties have to have the bottomless. This was not clear on their website. The sushi arrived and was aesthetically pleasing. That’s as far as it went. The crispy tofu crab sushi was extremely chewy, while the aubergine sushi had some weird sesame coating, which took away from the flavours of everything else. The platter which we recieved was ok but again underwhelming. Even though it was a bottomless, there wasn’t anything that we wanted to try again. As people who have never eaten meat or any type of fish (I know, it’s rare) we were very happy to find a vegan sushi place and expected to find lots that we could eat. However, we were restricted by the many sushi items that were made to taste and look like fish. We tried to tuna crunch but suprise! It had that sesame crunch around it which has a very distinctive taste, matched with the fishy tuna… it was not for us. I had a cocktail which was nice but overpriced in my humble opinion. The food costed us around £80 excluding the service charge, which I think is quite pricy for what we ate and especially as we both walked away hungry. This should not be the case when leaving a bottomless meal. We decided to take off the service charge as the service was extremely slow, we were left for long periods of time and it took a while for empty dishes to be cleared.

First trip to the new venue and the food quality and service were every bit as good at 123V. Great new additions to the bottomless sushi menu too!

Food and service excellent. Good value for the quality. We had unlimited sushi and cannot complain about portion size...it was more than enough for two.

The food was amazing as well as the service by the super friendly staff. The ambience is great and the tables are spaced out well. Will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone.
