We celebrated our 18yr old daughters High School graduation and my Mothers 87th birthday with my wife and I. We had a wonderful seat at a window with a great view. The place was busy. The food was mostly lousy - people are here to impress clients; but if you are a foodie, its not the place to come given the great options in Portland. Expensive. Mom and daughter had crab cakes that they said they couldn't taste any crab. There was something fried under it - but likewise they couldn't recognize what it was. We had a starter of Calimari and Fries - both were soggy and really not any good. I had a chop salad and steak tartare which were both really good! My wife had mussels - which she also said were yummy! Service was very good. We came here for the views & experience (we have been here before for Mother's Day brunches and also my prom in 88). If you really like great food; this isn't the place to go to in Portland. Its just a place to impress people who don't know what else exists in Portland in terms of restaurants. Four people $380 with two glasses of wine and one glass of beer. (20% tip).

Jen D and Javier were great servers! Jen was very personable and engaging, too. We had a family member visiting who had never been to Portland, and we all enjoyed our evening!

My guests seemed happy with the food choice, I found it a bit limited (happy hour menu) but ok. Service was excellent, attentive and cooperative. View is great (my guests were out of country visitors). A good place to go for happy hour!

Marco was an excellent server! We generally take family, friends, and clients visiting in the area to Portland City Grill, and frankly you’re paying for the amazing view. Don’t get me wrong, the food is okay, but every time we go to PCG I wonder where the flavor is. Everything is underseasoned. Also what the heck happened to the calamari? That used to be the best item on the menu and now it’s just little sad fried rings and random veggies on one of those weird styrofoam beds. $460 for 4 people to not be over the moon about the food quality isn’t great, but the impressive view is always what people remember. Marco: 12/10 Food: 2/10 Will still come back again, but I’m gonna be mad about it the whole time lol.

Great views. Way too many tables. Extremely poor food. Bland, overcooked steak. Somehow sweet shrimp? Unseasoned scallops. There must be some scam with the reviews, because this place deserves barely one star. Servers did what they could, but this place is a joke. The chef needs to quit. Please, go eat at any other restaurant, this place is guaranteed to disappoint.

I’ve been here many time for many occasions and normally the service is great, but the service this time was terrible. The waiter, Jeff, was very condescending and rude throughout the night. I understand that the night was busy, but the way we were treated was not nice at all. At least the food was good.

Service was insanely slow for Mother’s Day dinner. Our reservation was for 5:15 and we didn’t get our food till after 7:00. First drinks took over 45 minutes. And the main dining area was so so crowded. Really took away from the specialness of the occasion. Felt like we were dining in a cattle car. They should scale back the number of diners and really focus on service.

Wanted to love it, can’t by a long shot. Food was a big disappointment… salads wilted/room temp, short rib/mashed potatoes also room temp (yuck), asparagus waaaaay overcooked (double yuck). Thank goodness the bread was fresh from the oven. Aside from the views, this place has nothing going for it. Won’t return.

The service was great. The food tasted delicious as always. The server was very attentive. The view is amazing. Definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions and celebrations.

Went for Mother’s Day and it was fantastic. They had a Prix Fix Menu and there were really good choices to pick from. I had the Apple Gorgonzola salad and it was delicious. The candied walnuts were so delicious. My boyfriend had the Surf and Turf and said it was delicious. For dessert I had the Key Lime Pie and it was one of the best I have ever had. My brother had the cheesecake and it was so good not heavy like some cheesecakes can be. The view is stunning. You can see Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helen’s. It is on the 30th floor so the view is spectacular. I will be going back again.

The food and service are both top-notch. You can't beat the view either. I enjoy dropping by after work and grabbing a cocktail in the bar overlooking the city and mountains.

I booked a table for lunch on Sunday to celebrate my mom’s birthday as well as Mother’s Day. I was disappointed to find out that they were not offering the normal lunch menu (there was no warning on the website). My mother enjoyed the 3 course pre-fix menu options, however I couldn’t not select anything because there were no vegetarian or chicken options on the menu (all seafood and steak). We specifically chose a lunch time because of my diet restrictions/preferences. I was pretty much forced to pick a fish dish and pay 65.00 for something that I personally don’t eat and didn’t want (however I didn’t want my mom to eat alone and it seemed rude not to order). The waiter was super kind however let me know that the manager said they couldn’t deviate from the menu. I was able to get a chopped salad starter and some mahi mahi (the least fishy fish I could eat). I was disappointed that there was no warning that the normal menu wasn’t available and the lack of accommodations for dietary issues. In addition I was charged for an extra entre (luckily I caught this and was able to go back upstairs and have it fixed). However that took time and the manager took off the wrong entre (fish at 49.00) instead of the fish at 65.00 so I ended up paying the higher price. I love the atmosphere and service, I was disappointed with the limiting and restrictive menu for the price. 266.00 later(didn’t even have one cocktail) and we shared dessert. I am all for spending on dinner and don’t consider myself cheap, however if I am being honest the lack of options (chicken or veggie etc) was disappointing and there was no warning when booking that the only thing we could get on Sunday would be from the 75.00 a person pre-fix menu with only red meat and seafood options. Their normal lunch menu has much more variety. I was looking forward to that food. My mom loved her surf and turf and the view. from a business standpoint, please let customers know when only one menu will be offered.

Ilumination and temperature in the room could improve a little. I am not sure why there cannot be reservations for tables on the windows for this os the reason many people loves to go. An explanation to this would be much appreciated. Thanks for your excellent service and to the waiter Elaina and Don Javier who are five star staff.

My main entree “Alaskan Halibut” was disappointing. It was dry, was poorly cooked, the side items very such small portion.. it was absolutely not worth the $49 menu price. The service was very bland not very attentive. The ambience of course was great. But overall besides the ambience and the city view, the food quality and service at Portland City Grill is overrated. So not the memorable experience I had hoped for

We recently dined at Portland City Grill with a group of six and had a fantastic experience. The views from the restaurant are absolutely stunning, overlooking the city skyline and surrounding mountains. The ambiance was cozy and elegant, making for a perfect setting for our group dinner. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who took great care of our table. The food was delicious, with a diverse menu offering something for everyone in our group. The restaurant was somewhat busy but not overly. Our service was slow, our waiter was not attentive, our food was luke warm and the ribeye steak was not cooked as ordered-sent back to kitchen. Our experience took over 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Not sure if we will be back or recommend. Very disappointed needless to say.

I have been a regular at Portland City Grill for many years, appreciating its ambiance and dining offerings. However, my recent visit for my parents' 48th wedding anniversary was notably disappointing, a stark contrast to previous experiences. Our evening felt uncomfortably rushed. Even as we were still enjoying our meals, the bus staff began clearing our plates, some of which still had food on them. This rushed service detracted significantly from our ability to enjoy our special family occasion at a leisurely pace. Additionally, a major letdown was the temperature of the food. When our dishes arrived, they were cold. I specifically requested that my potatoes be warmed up, and although the staff did provide a new serving, the replacement was, unfortunately, also cold. This was particularly disheartening as the reasonable prices usually reflect not just the quality but also the proper service and presentation of the food. Furthermore, the total bill for our dinner amounted to over $800, which compounded our disappointment given the issues with service and food temperature. For such a significant expenditure, one expects both the food and the service to be impeccable. Overall, this experience did not meet the standard I have come to expect from Portland City Grill, especially given the significance of the occasion. I hope this incident is an anomaly and not indicative of a downward trend in service and quality.

Had a great time here. The view is spectacular, and the food is great. I had the seafood trio and it was awesome. The drinks were nice as well. Only thing is that our drink and dessert orders were forgotten and had to be reminded, but our waiter was on it.

We have dined here several times before but this time it was extra special because it was my son’s 21st birthday. The food was excellent but the service was very disappointing. We had to constantly try to find our waitress and when she did show up she’d be gone again for way too long. I understand that they may have been understaffed but this is a very nice restaurant and customers expect top notch service.

Restaurants with a good view are usually a tourist trap. This restaurant is a very pleasant exception. Not only does it have the best view in town; it also has great food and service. And the prices are reasonable for what you get. I travel internationally a lot and can highly recommend this place.

The city views were amazing, and the food was even better!! The service was outstanding, and the flavors and textures of the entrees were incredible. We took clients out, and they are still talking about it! It was a memory for everyone there!

My steak was over cooked and the service was horrifically slow even though it was nearly empty. The exotic mojito was also the worst I’ve ever had in my entire life. I had my friend try it and he agreed that it was horrible. Beautiful view and nice ambience. Was not worth the $250 I spent.

I have eaten at PCG probably 20+ times over the years but it has been a few years since I have been. I am sad to say the food, ambiance and service is subpar. The menu is now half what it used to be. PCG had a rack of lamb that was the best I ever had in the country. Now it is a lamb chop that is small and uninspired. The seating was extremely tight and I had people at my table who were continually getting bumped from behind as people tried to squeeze by. It was very busy which made the restaurant loud to the point people on the ends of my table set for 6 had an impossible time hearing any conversation that wasn't next to them. While the servers were pleasant it took nearly 90 minutes after we were seated for the food to come out. The mixed green salad which used to be amazing is now basic. My mom's filet was asked to be medium well done and it was medium rare at best. We didn't return it because we didn't know how long it would take to get it back. Portland City Grill used to be reliably great food, service and ambiance with a broad menu to appeal to anyone. It pains me to write this but I doubt I will come back it is not close to what it used to be.

The draw here is definitely the view. Noise level is greater than I like for fine dining. Food was fair but not exceptional. Service was very pleasant and cordial but slow.

The best view! Floor to ceiling windows all the way around the restaurant with views of the city and mountains. Everything was delicious and portions were on the bigger side - apps, entrees, dessert, drinks. The Kung Pao Calamari was the most unique and delicious take on fried calamari that I have ever tried!

Server was friendly, but everything took way too long. Drink orders even filling water. The biggest letdown was the entrée. I ordered their fillet with lobster tail, always medium rare on a steak. The steak came out and was easily well done. The server apologized and took it back. About 15 minutes later, after everyone else in my table was pretty much done eating, my plate came back. The bummer was now my potatoes and asparagus and lobster tail were all cold and I had a new steak. I cut into the steak and it was literally raw. Again, the server came over and advised against eating it, and said she would have the kitchen fix it again. I said don’t bother, it’s apparent that your chef can’t cook a simple steak, so I was pretty much done at that point. Again the server was very nice, but the overall service sucked, and the food was terrible. I will not be going back. There are way too many quality restaurants in Portland for me to waste my time and money on this one.
