Une retraite méditerranéenne rafraîchissante loin du chaos de la ville, avec des plafonds enveloppés de tissus et un mobilier blanc immaculé. Même durant une soirée mouvementée, le service est calme et compétent, et les couples de professionnels à la plupart des tables semblent parler à voix basse. La cuisine propose des versions scintillantes de copieux plats grecs rafraîchissants. Le souvlaki est grillé sur la braise et bonifié avec du filet mignon pour produire, un résultat succulent impressionnant et tendre. Des bras de poulpe marinés au vin sont aussi grillés au charbon de bois, ce qui permet d'obtenir une saveur étonnante et pas un soupçon de sensation caoutchouteuse. Des classiquess comme les skordalias à l'ail, les fèves fava, les foies de poulet sautés sur des lentilles, et les spanakopitas sont tous les meilleures des versions, la dernière étant préparée comme un plateau de tartelettes en bouchées. Une portion grand format de moussaka, constituée de couches d'agneau haché juteux et d'aubergine, liés par une sublime béchamel. Pour le dessert, le choix de pâtisseries délicates et le pudding de riz super crémeux sont excellents sans exception.

This has been a favorite, neighborhood haunt for a long-time; however, I found prices to have gone up ($29 for a chicken kebab; $17 for a well vodka and soda; $14 for a piece of cake) and new maitre d (dark hair) argued with me after messing up my friend's birthday dessert surprise, which left a bad taste (pun intended).

Always outstanding food! The octopus and the saganaki remain our favorite appetizers... but the options of mezze are great too! Oh, last night we opted for the Special - it was breaded/fried sardines. Delicious! The branding remains a big hit too! Really outstanding food and a wonderful selection of wines! Will certainly keep coming...

You are warmly greeted at the front door when coming to Periyali's. Food was delicious, especially the marinated octopus! Service was good, and not hovering. Price for cuisine appropriate.

This is my favorite Greek restaurant. It never disappoints. Food is excellent. Staff is fabulous. I would go here every week if I could afford it but I wait for special occasions so people can take me.

My favorite Greek restaurant in NYC. Periyali never disappoints. I have been here several times for lunch and always suggest it when friends want to take me out for my birthday. I was here last night and had a wonderful meal. The renovation is beautiful.

We went with friend for out of town and she loves Periyali as much as we do. The octopus remains one of the best in the city, Zucchini chips also a favorite. I had the lamb shank I didn't need a knife it was so tender. Our friend had the lamb chops , 3 very nice sized chops that were spectacular. There wine list is great and our waitress was lovely, friendly and did not hover. She also steered me to the lamb shank . Their walnut cake is better than baklava for me. So happy the quality has never changed , remains amazing.

This restaurant was as all other reviewers have noted. Very well prepared and tasty meal. The grilled octopus and the mushroom appetizers were wonderful as was the branzino entree. Wine bottle 108 was quite enjoyable. Will come again.

By now of course this place is a NYC Institution like Da Umberto, Raouls and Il Mulino. They run a good program, and the service is always attentive. The drinks come quickly, and notably the mezze are the star, along with the fresh fish. The whole bronzino is excellent. You can also almost aways get a table short notice, so that's nice too. Go with a smile on your face, and you are liable to leave with a bigger one.

We had a lovely dinner here last night with a friend visiting from Boston. This was our first time dining at Periyali. It was outstanding. The food was delicious - we each got an appetizer and and entree and we all ordered different meals. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was classy and quiet, so we could have a conversation. This place is a find and a neighborhood gem. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Greek cuisine with fabulous fish choices on the menu and specials of the day. Very fresh and nicely seasoned , prepared and presented. Vegetable sides were also excellent and not wilted/overcooked as is often the case. Wine selection, including many Greek options, is well thought out and reasonably priced. An excellent choice in this very busy restaurant neighborhood of UNION SQ.

I have been going to Priyali since 1987. One of the best Greek restaurants in manhattan. Service was second to none and the food was exceptional. Overall a 5 out of 5.

The service and food were exemplary. Friend zucchini with tzatziki. Salmon en papillote with feta and spinach. Moussaka. Solid wines by the glass. Not crazy expensive. Hit the right notes.

Hostess flail her arms & said you may seat & pointed to table along wall close to door or over there with an aimless thrust of her arm. Mindful Only one table was presently n use. She did not ask if we would like to check our costs. We seated ourselves & waiter dropped menus on table. He did not ask if we wanted a drink. Again only one other table was in use. Overall the staff seemed bothered Ed to be there

We had to ask for the prix fixe lunch menu. It was not offered. If didn’t know that it existed I would not have gotten it. I take friends there for lunch frequently to celebrate birthdays. So I knew to ask. I was disappointed that it was not automatically offered.

I've been going for years and the food is better than ever. A trip to Greece with no jet lag. everything is fresh and made with love. Service is great and decor very simple and pretty. I highly recommend for everyday and special occasions too!!

First time back this century and it was as good as I recalled it. Restaurant week selections from regular menu (octopus and branzino) were outstanding and a real bargain. The house white wine, an interesting Greek blend, was excellent. Attentive service. Attractive decor and ambiance. Going back soon.

Our lunch at Periyali was wonderful! The restaurant is bright and cozy and the service was impeccable. The dips were delicious and the octopus was particularly outstanding as well. Can’t wait to dine here again!

We had not been to Periyali since before the pandemic but were happily surprised the quality of the restaurant was just as good as we remembered. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. Surroundings comfortable. Vibe was excellent and not intense. Service just right. Very comforting to return.

Snowy Friday during restaurant week. Having lunch in the neighborhood was a good excuse to get out. Always like Peryali, but this was such a nice lunch. Delicious food (pea soup, grilled branzino, Greek dips with pita, mousaka) and a very tasty bottle of Greek red wine. Lots of well-priced wines on the list. Service was excellent and attentive. Restaurant is very bright and pretty. A lovely interlude on a gray day.

Our party of 4 for dinner on a Wednesday evening enjoyed perfectly grilled octopus, shrimp, branzino filet, as well as moussaka, saganaki, smoky eggplant dip and more. Excellent wine by the glass. Superb deserts a most delicious orange cake with a scoop of icecream; a dark spicy nut cake with a scoop. We were not rushed. The staff is knowledgable, present but not overly so. We are New Yorkers and haven’t had a better meal and experience. So glad Periyali is back after the Covid hiatus.

Periyali remains a standout for excellent Greek food. I've never had a disappointing meal there. The restaurant is spacious, attractive, and relatively quiet. And you can almost always park on the street right outside.

Octopus: delicious, dessert: delicious, excellent drinks. Salmon special good but has no particular flavor. Service was outstanding. The ambiance of the white walls is calming, the noise level pleasant, able to have a conversation without telling. Google menu online for prices. Two people, one app, two specials, one dessert, and one drink each, $200 exc tip.
