Open since 2002 Palmettos on the Bayou is a charming and elegant Acadian style restaurant serving classic Creole dishes highlighting fresh Louisiana ingredients.

Set on the tranquil Bayou Bonfouca near Old Town Slidell, our waterfront restaurant/event venue is known for its southern charm. Palmettos famous Brunch features live Jazz Saturday and Sunday. The 5,000sqf covered deck provides a dramatic outdoor setting at night for romantic dinners and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day.

We are honored to have been named Best Brunch, Dining with a View, and Most Romantic by various local publications throughout the years.

I love this place. It’s definitely an amazing vibe, with a beautiful scenery, and great jazz music. The food is always cooked to perfection!

Since we were attending brunch I wished there were breakfast options but it was a set menu due to the holiday. Other than that the staff was delightful and the ambiance was beautiful. Enjoyed the live music as well.

Went in for an early Mother's Day celebration and it took a minute, but once Natalie was assigned as our server, we were in excellent hands! She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and funny to boot. The food and drinks were excellent and Natalie was just icing on the cake. The only think I could ask for would be a more extensive bar, but everything was terrific!

Palmetto on the Bayou is a vibe all by itself!! I love everything about it. The live music playing during brunch. The outdoor seating was great. Not too hot. And the food was amazing!!

A true north shore gem, this restaurant has it all. Great view, delicious food, wonderful cocktails and typically live music. Staff are professional and attentive. We were told they have a new chef, well done chef absolutely every was on point! Make reservations to secure outdoor seating and enjoy!

beautiful ambiance.. excellent service by our waitress, Natalie! tasty food! the only complaint is that the bartender didn’t know how to make an old fashion! no muddling and served with maraschino cherries????

Lovely place on the water. Our favorite for brunch. Two small complaints… although the boudin Benedict is good, it doesn’t hold a candle to the crabcake Benedict, which is no longer on the menu. Also, we really miss the Cajun band, although the jazz duet was nice. We will always be back.

They ask you to email any requests and they never got back with me. Ordered drinks and never received them. Such a small and limited menu. But the food was really good and the place is beautiful

Very very disappointing Such a rude manager…. They had a wedding going on and we had to sit next to it. The manager yelled at us to not look at the wedding when we just glansed over. People tan in and our and we ton just an apetizer and legat. Perhaps a discount? Oh ni Said the manager we dont have discount We are from Sweden and had travelled 6,5h to get there that day The manager should not be in charge there 😡

Had a wonderful time!!!! Palmetto’s never disappoints. Really enjoyed the new dessert banana fosters bread pudding . Would highly recommend trying it. Our waiter Garrett was outstanding. Great attention to detail. This was our 7th time dinning there.

Our waiter was excellent.. Made sure we had everything that we needed… Our next dining experience to Palmettos we will request Derrick!!! Also, the hostess was very very friendly and checked on us as well.. Food as always was DELISH as well as the adult beverages!!!! Your staff and team are superb!!!! Thank you for a wonderful date night with my hubby of 53yrs…🤣🤣

Lovely setting for a delicious Easter Brunch. The bisque, fish, grillades all delicious. Everyone enjoyed Everything! Server was first rate.

Arrived at 1120 for our 11:30 reservations. Were told there were 2 seatings ahead of us, and we could wait at the bar. We sat at the bar for 15 mins, waiting for service, bartender was by himself, he was Preparing drinks for the entire restaurant. We were then told we could sit there and wait for drinks but tab could Not carry over to table and table was now ready. We opted to be seated. Which turned out to be a very small table on the other side of the bar. All staff appeared to be very busy, hustling around a busy outdoor dining area. A young lady came and took drink order and appetizer order after about 10 mins and scurried off. Outdoors was busy, but not full. Our table was on the direct path from the kitchen and bar to the outdoor seating. Heavy traffic area. Appetizers were the chargrilled oysters, good and the spinach dip with seasoned crackers. Nice, but lacked a true flavor. Drinks were good. Turned out the bar tender was also working as our waiter. My Husband had chicken and waffles. The Waffle was crisp and light, very tasty, the chicken strips were plan. I had the Boudin Eggs Benedict. Was very good other than poached eggs were over done, yolk was semi soft at best. Presentation was well done. All staff were friendly but seemed rushed the entire time. Outdoor area looked lovely. Where we were seated we could not hear the music outside. Overall - food was good, setting outside was cute, would definitely ask to be seated there if we ever go back. Consider having a small outdoor drink service area or more staff ??

We go to Slidell approx. twice a year, and this is the only place we'll have lunch. Nice ambiance, with multiple choices for dining spaces in their indoor and outdoor sections, the food - and cocktails - are always very good, the wine-by-the-glass list is OK, and service is usually prompt and attentive.

We really enjoyed our visit. Reserved a table inside but when we got there we noticed the jazz band was outside. The hostess happily made arrangements for us to sit outside. It was fantastic! My new favorite place to do brunch!

The experience was terrible. We have never had these issues when dining here in the past. It first took a very long time to put in our drink order. We then had completely eaten our appetizers before we were ever asked to place our entree order (it was extremely out of character and caused the food take a very long time to then arrive). Additionally we ordered 2 steak and frites entrees and I ordered a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. Eventually our dinner was “served”. My wife received a steak and frites meal, but I was being served an entirely different steak dinner (chargrilled steak). After pointing out I was given the wrong meal, the waitress took it back but brought it right back to me, explaining they had a mix up and gave my steak and frites to someone else….. I was then asked can’t you just eat this one and I will give you French fries (this is a totally different steak, totally different sauce, totally different meal…). Seriously that is the way you remedy this issue? In my experience the correct meal is served even if a screw up is made or a refund is made! This was ridiculous in order to not cause a scene I had to eat a steak dinner that was not what I ordered, and was the worst steak I have ever eaten! I only could eat half of it. Just wait there’s more!!!! I also never got my gumbo, until the very end of my meal. Waitress acted like giving me it for free was making up for the terrible service… like really a $9 cup of gumbo makes up for the totally screwed up dinner? I have never experienced this bad of service here or anywhere else for that matter. I cannot believe a manager was not sent to our table after the first mistake of serving me the entirely wrong steak entree, but after my gumbo never came out you would expect management to come speak and make up for the terrible experience. After tonight it will be very difficult to ever want to eat at Palmettos again.

We had a nice dinner with friends. outside is a nice area to dine. Glad they eventually turned the fan off. Our meal was very good. loved the fried oysters. We will be back.

Food, service, and the ambiance was great. We visited for brunch on Sunday. I will admit that the prices are on the high side, but the quality and taste of the food was great. Nice place for a special occasion.

Palmetto’s is a beautiful casual restaurant. Several people recommended Palmetto’s for brunch today. We made reservations a few days ago. When we arrived the hostess put us in the corner of the front room. Several people after us were seated in the back with a beautiful view. We were stunned that we had such a horrible seat in the restaurant. We ordered the chargrilled oysters & they were delicious. My husband really enjoyed his trout almandine. I ordered the smash burger & it did not live up to my expectations. Great setting but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Although the menu is limited, the options are varied and very tasty. I understand that the new executive chef is in the process of making some changes. I am looking forward to seeing what they might be.

Went for brunch on the patio. Our server was very personable, my Wonderful Thyme cocktail was delicious, and the fried chicken with the chicken and waffles was the BEST chicken I have ever tasted in my life. I wasn't a fan of their biscuits which were very crispy, almost like they had been deep fried? But the apple butter we got with them was magical. Overall it was a lively brunch and we would absolutely be back.

Even if the kitchen had managed to execute the menu correctly (for example, overcooked NY steaks dumped on cold French fries at $32), the menu is uninspired. My Catch Ponchatrain ($35) was a stingy little piece of redfish and three small shrimp. No blue crab, no mushrooms as promised and a so-what shellfish jus. The Caesar salad was overdressed and obviously made far in advance and stored in a fridge. The shrimp and grits was nothing special, and that night it was the high point of the meal. Apologetic staff brought us the special fries - after we had finished our entrees. We were offered free desserts but we chose to cut our losses and pass. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is friendly.
