Ouvert en 1983 par le restaurateur Joe Allen du quartier des théâtres, Orso offre une cuisine italienne régionale dans un environnement confortable et intime. On peut y retrouver les visiteurs de l'extérieur, les habitants et les habitués de Broadway en train d'apprécier les plats classiques d'Orso, comme les rigatonis sauce bolognaise et le foie de veau sauté aux oignons grillés et à la sauge. En plus de ces plats, Orso propose également des assiettes plus petites, des entrées, des pizzas à croûte mince et des demi-assiettes qui sont parfaitement adaptés pour casser la croûte avant un spectacle ou pour manger tard le soir.

Reliable theatre district staple. Lovely pastas, pizzas, limited mains. The food is perfectly fine, but the people are lovely and the room is welcoming. There are so few places post-Covid where you can not only make a 10:30 reservation, you can dine without being rushed.

My favorite theater district restaurant. The food is always terrific. Ambience great. Noise level fine. We can always have a conversation.

I have been coming for years and have never been disappointed. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the martinis…so very good. I never miss an opportunity to go when I’m in the city.

We were somewhat disappointed. The bolognese sauce had little meat and blah flavoring. My daughter had shrimp risotto that also had odd flavors. Service was spotty.

This is a perfect pre-theater spot for dinner and a legendary establishment next door to and owned by the same people as Joe Allen. Staff were courteous and efficient. Our server, Les, was wonderful. He was super helpful when we had questions with the menu and very patient with us. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection! They even surprised us with a little scoop of ice cream with a candle in it because we had mentioned it was our anniversary. Will definitely return on future trips to New York.

Terrific pre-theatre spot and a bit less pricey than others. Always reliable food. If you have a choice I’d suggest you sit in the front part of the restaurant as the back is up against the kitchen and drafty.
