Old Tbilisi Garden Is The Only Georgian Restaurant In Greenwich Village, New York City. Old Tbilisi Garden opened on July 4th, 2014. Since then, it has been one of the only few restaurants that offer authentic Georgian Cuisine in Manhattan. Winemaking is deeply rooted in Georgia’s history, culture
and economy. The world’s first cultivated grapevines are
thought to have originated in the country’s fertile valleys
some 8,000 years ago. Georgia’s long winemaking history
has given rise to unique methods of production, such as
the “Kakhetian rule”. Georgians make wine that is aged and
stored in a special cone-shaped clay vessel known as
a Qvevri.

Our waiter was so kind and patient and fired our plates with precision. He knew exactly when to pick up our plates and when to bring us our next course. The food was delicious and the restaurant was so relaxed and intimate. I loved it!

My partner and I came to Old Tbilisi for her birthday. The appetizers we ordered, the walnut-stuffer eggplant and the sautéed mushrooms, were both outstanding. The borscht and the chakapuli (lamb dish with greens and white wine) were very good but not quite as outstanding as the appetizers. The imeruli khachapuri was essentially a variety of cheese pizza— while satisfying with the salty sulguni cheese, it was somewhat plain and the ajika sauce that was provided on request helped round it out. I also had a glass of the sapevari qvewri wine— this was excellent. When I asked for a second glass, however, I was given a different wine without being informed as such, and only received an explanation that “they had run out” (which I find suspicious considering it is one of only half a dozen wines they carry and clearly a specialty) when I called them on it. This is why I felt the service was not quite top notch. That said, overall we enjoyed the experience very much… specially the ambience sitting in the covered garden at the back was very nice.

Tip is automatically added which I think is wrong. In addition the standard way to add a tip is also presented causing clear double tipping issues. Either add the tip and remove the option to tip or don’t automatically add the tip which I prefer.

Came here at 4pm before a music show at Cafe Wha, and we had an excellent dining experience. The place was completely empty besides us, though - we assumed it was because of the odd reservation time, but it was still empty when we left at 5:15 and the restaurants around us were filled up. I can't understand why, because the food and service were both excellent! We got the eggplant and walnut spread rolls, the tolma, and I got the lamb and tarragon khinkali (dumplings) and my dad got the chanaki (lamb stew). Then we got the ideali (honey walnut cake) for dessert as recommended by our waiter. Everything was delicious and the prices were reasonable. If you're looking for a quiet, hidden gem in Greenwich village, this is it.

We brought 2 high school teens from rural Pennsylvania to explore new experiences, and this was fantastic both for them and for us. We had visited another Georgian restaurant previously with a native Georgian, but found this meal much more interesting and flavorful. Great, and we will do this again at Old Tbilisi, even without a native translator.

So fun to enjoy Georgian food. The traditional bread boat was divine. The vegetables so satisfying and the stews delicious.

The food is remarkable. The chacha is divine. The dry red is tremendous. The people were friendly. The place was immaculate. Highly recommend.

Great food, when check came we noticed that 20% gratuity was already included, however our party was only 5 people. After credit card was swiped, the receipt contained another suggestion for a tip. Not very decent practice.

The food was delicious and authentic, the restaurant was a bit loud, but a great place for a party, but beware, they added auto-gratuity of 20% to our TWO person table, and didn’t make mention of it. Nor was it posted clearly anywhere, and I’m still working on resolving the issue after calling the very next day, being assured they would take care of it. Food is great, but I don’t like being misled like this. It would make me think twice about recommending it.

We had a lovely dinner at Old Tbilisi last night. The staff was welcoming & kind. The food was on point & delicious. It was a blustery cold evening and we were able to dine indoors with our sweet well behaved dog in a cozy spot under our table. Just a warm experience all around. Thank you!

Georgian food is worth trying! Lots of flavorful dishes, and plenty of cheese, in the best way! Try the Chacha spirit in a cocktail or just by itself -- this was the most incredible discovery of all. You cannot go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu -- from appetizers to desert. The restaurant itself is huge and lacks ambiance, toward the front of the space, but the "garden" area at the back is heated and really great.

Great local gem. Really good food and great service. We liked sitting in the outdoor garden in the back, even in the cold. They have heat lamps and it’s pretty charming. Overall good spot

We were in a hurry for a theatrical performance and asked for a quick service. We got valuable recommendations from the waiter for a quick and nice meal. The staff paid close attention and reacted immediately to all our inquiries. Service was nice and quick, and food was delicious. Great environment.

This was my first introduction to Georgian cuisine, and I really enjoyed it. Some similarities to Russian and Greek food, but delicious in its own right.

Waitstaff got order wrong for a couple items and then seemingly pretended they couldn’t replace the main item they got wrong. Visual ambience was nice, but indoor seating was still too warm on a hot day. Also bad was that they only take cash or AmEx (huh?), which I didn’t find out until I sat down and then had to use shady ATM in basement. This last point should be much more visible on the OpenTable listing. I wouldn’t have picked it if I knew.

We absolutely fell in love with the dishes. We had been excited to try this for a while. We had the sauteed mushrooms dish, the minced meat grapeleaves with sour cream, all three versions of Georgian dumplings, one each of the Qveri Gerogian wines offered, and the branzino. Literally this was an amazing dinner to experience the crossroads of silk road cuisine showing mix of mediterranean, middle eastern, and asian. super nice staff and wonderful food that is affordably priced. Quaint and delightful location!

Have been to Old Tbilisi twice already and enjoyed it each time. Would suggest to anyone going to get a later reservation - during my second time I had an earlier reservation and the food(while still great) was a bit smaller portion-wise across the board but still worth the price! The Tolma, Portobello Mushrooms, and Megruli get the gold star from me!!!

The food is amazing as is the wine. If you want to try amazing Georgina food this is the place. Also the staff is super nice and attentive. We went on a tuesday night and the Ambiance was quiet.
