Old Tbilisi Garden Is The Only Georgian Restaurant In Greenwich Village, New York City. Old Tbilisi Garden opened on July 4th, 2014. Since then, it has been one of the only few restaurants that offer authentic Georgian Cuisine in Manhattan. Winemaking is deeply rooted in Georgia’s history, culture
and economy. The world’s first cultivated grapevines are
thought to have originated in the country’s fertile valleys
some 8,000 years ago. Georgia’s long winemaking history
has given rise to unique methods of production, such as
the “Kakhetian rule”. Georgians make wine that is aged and
stored in a special cone-shaped clay vessel known as
a Qvevri.

    Excellent! First time enjoying Georgian food and it did not disappoint. Service was wonderful. Wine selection was exciting and varied. Loved the glass options for many of them. Highly recommend

    Wanted to try out Georgian cuisine and found this place in the Village. It was disappointing as the Branzino whole fish was not fresh , the Baked Bassa fish was so so . There was no bread , no sides options. The server didn’t even pour water in our glasses and towards the end they tacked an automatic 20 percent gratuity for a party of 2 . What made it worse is the service and food didn’t warrant that automatic. 20 percent tip that was done in poor taste. I think that was the icing on the cake as that completely put me off. I will never come back here.

    Excellent Georgian cuisine - if you’ve never had it, go and enjoy! And the Georgian wines are wonderful! Gracious service, lovely garden room!

    Went back today because I ate here 5 years ago and haven’t wanted to go again ever since. It did not disappoint!

    Our waiter was so kind and patient and fired our plates with precision. He knew exactly when to pick up our plates and when to bring us our next course. The food was delicious and the restaurant was so relaxed and intimate. I loved it!

    My partner and I came to Old Tbilisi for her birthday. The appetizers we ordered, the walnut-stuffer eggplant and the sautéed mushrooms, were both outstanding. The borscht and the chakapuli (lamb dish with greens and white wine) were very good but not quite as outstanding as the appetizers. The imeruli khachapuri was essentially a variety of cheese pizza— while satisfying with the salty sulguni cheese, it was somewhat plain and the ajika sauce that was provided on request helped round it out. I also had a glass of the sapevari qvewri wine— this was excellent. When I asked for a second glass, however, I was given a different wine without being informed as such, and only received an explanation that “they had run out” (which I find suspicious considering it is one of only half a dozen wines they carry and clearly a specialty) when I called them on it. This is why I felt the service was not quite top notch. That said, overall we enjoyed the experience very much… specially the ambience sitting in the covered garden at the back was very nice.

    Tip is automatically added which I think is wrong. In addition the standard way to add a tip is also presented causing clear double tipping issues. Either add the tip and remove the option to tip or don’t automatically add the tip which I prefer.

    It was our first time trying Georgian food. The service was good, the food and drinks suggestions were amazing!
