Great night out. Food is delicious. The butter beans are a must try. Staff is friendly and fun to talk to. Sit at the bar, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent food & crafted cocktails, friendly service. The Gulf shrimp with red rice was a stand out & biscuits are legendary for a reason. Only area that could be improved - below average wine list and lack of variety of wine by the glass options.

The service was outstanding. They were as welcoming and attentive as a 1-2 Michelin Star restaurant. We enjoyed our food and the little house is lovely.

Every time I come to Olamaie I am wowed. The new dishes (Oysters Rockafella, and Chicken Presse) were fantastic. The grasshopper and strawberry beet deserts were killer as well. Can't suggest enough.

Excellent meal. Lovely service, good sense of humour. Blackened fish was a standout, as was the shrimp red rice. Biscuits were to die for.

Olamaie is a lovely restaurant, but we had few things that didn't sit right with us after our meal. First, there is a 20% automatic gratuity added to your bill. I don't have a problem with this. As a former hospitality professional it is encouraging that they compensate their staff fairly. Our issue is that this automatic gratuity is not stated anywhere on the menu or by the staff, only to be highlighted on the bill after your meal. Guys, Union Square Hospitality Group figured this out over a decade ago. Just say it on your menu and increase the prices accordingly. Second, for the prices there are other restaurants in town that offer a better value for money on the quality of food (which is good to great). Olamaie was an expensive night out that didn't feel quite "worth it". Thirdly, there was a small bone in the rabbit roulade. We're all human, it's a small mistake, but for $45 a dish I expect better. The biscuit remains the best thing on the menu. My recommendation, get a cocktail or two with a bunch of appetizers and the biscuit for dessert if you don't want to break the bank.

Food was good. Service was okay. But where you lost me was when you seated us by the front emergency exit door when other tables were available. I had reservations as well but that didn't seem to matter. So long Olamaie.

The biscuits were awesome. My shrimp dish was nice but just way too much butter in the rice. Wife had the pork dish. No way anyone could possibly eat all that meat.

Staff was cordial but conceited. Ambience and acoustics superior. Food was a mixed bag. Some dishes like cabbage were creative and pleased the palette. Texas “wagyu” was almost as tender as my heavy duty boot sole…steak knife was barely adequate…a sawzall would have been suitable.

Chef Amanda stopped by our table & took pictures with us. The food was PHENOMENAL!!! Our 10 dishes were flavorful & plentiful. When I come back to Austin, I’ll return & will recommend to others!!!

First visit and it won’t be our last. The smoked beef belly & smoked cabbage were excellent starters. Dayboat fish & pork chop were solid entrees. Hummingbird cake & strawberry beet sorbet were amazing. Service was attentive & efficient.

Vey nice expirience! The food was delicious and inventive. We had the oysters, fish, and chicken. Good recommendations from Mathew. No sure about the hummingbird cake, with all the other nice ingredients in the dishes, I thought fresh pineapple on the cake would have been a more elegant option. Overall, very good food.

The food at Olamaie is undeniably good. Clear POV, is executed perfectly, and very delicious. The problem is the inflexibility. Nothing can be altered, I mean NOTHING. Don't get me wrong, I understand that executing the chef's vision is important to a restaurant's consistency and overall ethos. But they overdo it to almost comedic effect. Can a sauce or a dressing come on the side? No. Can a topping be left off so a dish can more easily be shared? No. Can a vegetarian at the table have the salad without the beef fat dressing? No. (That's true, by the way. The one salad on the menu is made with beef fat). This level of unbending inflexibility puts the servers in a bad position. They have to become naysayers and deniers. Right at the start they are forced to disappoint rather than delight. And, unfortunately, our server delivered that bad news with an air of superiority, to boot. As if only rubes and novices, unaccustomed to finer establishments would dare ask a chef to compromise their vision. Ugh, spare me. In the end, the biscuits are so good as to almost make up for all the rigidity. But I can't recommend the place overall, unless you like exactly what you see and are willing to hold your tongue.

Amazing! Fav restaurant in Austin right now! I love the food, vibe and service. We’ve been reserving special occasions at Olamaie, and when I book I look forward to it! I dream about their biscuits! One of the best things you can put in your mouth. How could you top it? IDK how it happened but before I knew it I was ordering caviar on my biscuits… did not regret

The food was wonderful. My friend had rabbit that she loved. I had shrimp that was insanely good. Molly, who took care of us, listened and paid attention. Chef Amanda came out and said hello. It was a great experience. I don’t have a picture of it but … the biscuit defies description.

The non-alcoholic beer was not very good. The fish with rice dish, which I have had before, was not as flavorful as before. The piece of red snapper, however, was very well-cooked and delicious. Delicious dessert.
