Though this was not our first visit, Okane once again exceeded our expectations in all areas. It is relatively easy to find “good” sushi in San Francisco, but the level of creativity and inspiration exhibited by the chefs at Okane distinguish it from others in a way that provides a delightful and unique experience. When combined with the excellence in service and uplifting yet tranquil ambiance, Okane is the premiere sushi experience for those looking for a place that exhibits quality while remaining accessible on a regular basis.

The food was delicious. From what was on the regular menu to the specials. If you don’t know what to order ask your server, she recommended a few rolls and there’s were amazing. Service was excellent.

Unfortunately, our first dish, bacon wrapped scallops were not great. I should’ve said something, however service was not always attentive. The bacon was all fat and inedible to me. I was very surprised. You were also out of a lot of items/fish we ordered and we weren’t promptly told. It would’ve been nice if the staff had quickly suggested a good substitute. You did bring one item on the house, which we appreciated.

Waiter barely spoke English, was comedic-level unclear on what the chefs assortment included, and then took so long to bring out one dish we thought they forgot about it. There was also one loud party having a great time but swearing and yelling, which killed what would have been a nice date night ambiance. Food was great but overall experience was still very frustrating as a result. The previous time I went everything went great though, so YMMV!

Really lovely, not busy due to it being Christmas Eve. Wonderful service and very hospitable. Just a little disappointed with the menu options. When I made the reservation on open table I looked at the menu on open table and saw a handful of things I wanted to try but the menu was different when we arrived. I know that happens sometimes but open table should be more updated as it’s their reservation platform. High price point but the quality was incredible. Val was great!

We enjoyed our dinner last night. The extra fatty Toro melted in my mouth , the mixed tempura was crispy with 4 delicious prawns and assorted veggies. The highlight was the hamachi Kama grilled just right. I will go back soon!!

the sushi is ridiculously melt in your mouth tender, i was shocked that there was a place this good in the super quiet, low key design district. it feels a little out of place and like it should get a lot more traffic. interior is modest and it seemed the sushi chefs were getting takeout orders (might have to look into that…) but this place serves super upscale, high quality product. yummmm!!

I was happy with the service and food but what shocked and annoyed me was a bill of $380 for food prior to tipping (this was food for 3 people). I didn't think we ate very much. When I saw the bill ---- Didn't want to make a fuss bc I didn't want to alarm my best friend(it was her birthday)....It was only when I got home that I saw the final bill and dissected it that really peeved me. With your food and bev total is a 6% employee surcharge. What is that? Now - before you get annoyed and think I don't know about the SF Mandate...There was an additional SF Mandate added to the bill as well. Let me summarize my bill $348 food and bev that included a 6% employee surcharge(The employee surcharge was roughly $20) $37 - that included SF Mandate and 8.625 Sales tax $385 -total bill for 3 people prior to tax. So before you star to tip, you need to realize that the $348 includes $20 which is already a surcharge for their employees. I wish I knew because I left quite a nice tip so in reality, I actually tipped close to 28% on the meal because I didn't see the $20 for the employee(aka 6% charge). Wow....next time, I will adjust appropriately bc I do like the food, but I have been to this place so many times, and never scrutinized the bill. Now I will.

YUM. High quality sashimi and dishes. My young child devoured the edamame, kanpachi collar, seaweed salad and tobiko sashimi. Great flavors. Been here twice & will want to go back! Would give it 4.5 stars if I could.

Parking was great. We had a reservation for 2. We were given the table next to the door. We requested another table we saw for 2. We were told no they have other reservations. We settled for the table by the door. About 5 min later another couple came and got the table we asked for. The waitress was not accommodating. Food was good. Will not return. My husband and I eat in San Francisco every Sat. Waitress should have been more accommodating we were there first.

Excellent food from start to finish. Probably the best nigiri I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious. Not necessarily cheap, but a great price point for the quality of the food. A great value overall. Would absolutely eat there again.

The food portions were so small. We ordered the $45 chirashi bowl & we’re given a bowl that was smaller that what they’ve previously served before. It was the size of an appetizer and not worth the amount you have to pay. We all left hungry after our $400 bill. Not worth it.

Parking was SUPER easy since there is a clean, safe, secure garage attached to the restaurant so little worry of break ins while dining. Maybe the best sushi and rolls in the Bay Area, definitely best in SF. Hot appetizers were good but nothing extraordinary. Very reasonable $$ for the quality of food and service. Will go more routinely even for takeout bc parking is so easy/convenient.

The standard dishes we order, the tempura and sukiyaki were excellent. As were the green beans. But the miso soup was missing something and the special sushi roll (snow crab, hamachi) was so unappetizing we didn’t finish it. It was the one less than wonderful meal we have had there.

Recommend ordering to go, don't bother dining in. We had such high hopes and were really excited when we were able to book a reservation at the sushi bar. Turns out unlike most sushi restaurants where you receive better service at the bar, we basically sat there for 90 minutes watching them make a bunch of togo orders. Service for dine in was so slow that we had to cancel our last plate, and never got to try the delicious sounding desserts. If you are going to make your dine in customers wait while you service those that couldn't be bothered to show up, you should at least come by to offer more drinks. Food was great, service was atrocious.
