En avril 1983, le National Exemplar a ouvert ses portes dans le Mariemont, un monument de l'Ohio, The Mariemont Inn. L'hôtel a été construit au milieu des années 1920 en tant que petite partie de la communauté tout à fait unique de Mariemont, fondée par Mary Emery. Le restaurant National Exemplar a été nommé ainsi après qu'on ait appris que Mary Emery avait déjà fait référence à sa communauté en développement en tant que National Exemplar, ce qui signifie un modèle de communauté national. Ce restaurant de quartier propose un service complet, et sert le déjeuner, le dîner et le souper, 7 jours par semaine. Chaque repas est préparé à partir d'ingrédients frais de première qualité. I don't know whether the restaurant was short-staffed or what, but service was very, very slow. We had to ask twice for a second glass of wine, and my side salad never came. One in our party asked multiple times if the music that was playing could be turned down a notch, she was right next to a speaker, and nothing happened. My husband's risotto was overcooked and when mentioning that they did give him a free dessert. We have dined here in the past with excellent service and an enjoyable meal. Things were really just "off" this night.

We went for the prime rib for a few fiends and I got the filet which is really enjoyed. Their cocktails are excellent.

We enjoyed a delightful meal starting with fresh oysters followed by a tasty smoked salmon flatbread then perfectly prepared grilled branzino or the nicely seasoned volcano pork shank. Finished our dinner with a generous portion of rich chocolate cake. Mary provided courteous, efficient and well paced service. Overall, a very pleasant experience!

I decided to treat my wife to dinner last night (she had a very busy work day). At the National Exemplar our waiter Steven, was outstanding. The food and mood of the restaurant, provided us with a delicious stress free experience. I gained high husband points.

Once again another amazing dinner at National Exemplar. It’s their anniversary week with throwback menu items. Their filet feature was amazing and cooked perfectly- very tender! Just like our wedding reception dinner we had there back in 2006! Absolutely love this place. Service was outstanding. Lisa has a great team!

Because of the distance from our home, this is always a treat for us to come here. It is always an enjoyable experience. We were lucky to have Madeline again. She truly makes the us feel special. The mushroom soup is excellent as usual.

National Exemplar was such a great experience and the food prices were very reasonable. The restaurant is beautiful and has a cute patio area. They play great music and their service is exceptional without being too much. I had the Hungarian mushroom soup and the prime rib (house cut) both which were delicious and good portions.

We made reservations on 3/5/24 for a booth in the bar area; for a special dinner for our friends that have never been. We arrived on time and while waiting to be seated the hostess gave our booth to others standing in the waiting area; we were seated in the main dining room much to our disappointment…..what is the purpose of making a reservation three weeks in advance? Spoke with manager with no resolve….

You cannot go wrong by visiting this 40 year old institution in Mariemont! We have dined there 2 or 3 times a month over the past 3 or 4 years. Sampled virtually everything on the menu and it is always deliciously and beautifully executed. The service is outstanding! The management better! Come visit us at The National Exemplar. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Steak was very & repeat very salty. Prime rib while not very fatty was extremely stringy. Dinner came across as restaurant serving cheaper cuts of beef but charging premium prices. Choice of baked potato over vegetables would have been nice. Honestly don't see how this restaurant gets so many glowing positive reviews. Waitress disappeared for very long stretches. Definitely not worth the money we paid

Slow drink service to start, but not Sarah’s fault, she was very attentive and wonderful! Small dinner entree portions. Didn’t know we were celebrating a birthday, even though I advised on Open Table reservation, however, I mentioned something to Sarah after dinner and she promptly brought out flutes of champagne for the table to toast, nice touch! Good, but not great value.

Service was very slow but Taco Tuesday was a huge hit. The food was unusual and fantastic. Everyone loved their order. My son had an Old Fashion cocktail and he said it was one of the best he ever had. The attention to detail was great; clear ice cube with logo, chilled bourbon, and vanilla bitters. I would absolutely recommend them. I think the slow service was just an anomaly, as I have been there before for breakfast and the service was great.

The branzino was unique and perfectly prepared. One of the best fish dishes I’ve ever ordered. The service ages atmosphere were also pleasant. Overall, a good value.

Someone at your table has to get the prime rib french dip. It is melt in your mouth delicious! My husband also liked the truffle pasta. We went for Valentine's day and it is a nice, cozy atmosphere for a data night. Not too expensive and they even gave all the ladies a red rose to take home that night. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the mac&cheese side I got - bland and not very creamy but mac&cheese is hard to please everyone with.

The prime rib is very small- didn’t used to be! You couldn’t even make a sandwich-very disappointing. I’ve been coming for years.
