En avril 1983, le National Exemplar a ouvert ses portes dans le Mariemont, un monument de l'Ohio, The Mariemont Inn. L'hôtel a été construit au milieu des années 1920 en tant que petite partie de la communauté tout à fait unique de Mariemont, fondée par Mary Emery. On vacation and met friends here at their suggestion for dinner. The food was wonderful - we had the Branzino and the beef ragu. Both were generous serving sandwiches delicious. We had a corner booth and it was quiet, easy to converse. Service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive.

The National Exemplar is a long-standing Cincinnati treasure. The menu is comprehensive, and has options that will appeal to most anyone lucky enough to dine there. The food is backed up by attentive service and an extensive and friendly bar. When weather is nice, tables are available outside, with an attractive garden setting under umbrellas. Passersby impart a neighborhood elegance there. Private parties can be accommodated in rooms that glow with the traditional feel that the historic hotel hosting the restaurant imparts. A peek into the hotel lobby is recommended, so as not to miss out on the history held within these walls. During the week you will find daily specials that add value to the dining experience. A Cincinnati must do, bucket list or not.

Everything was great! We loved the music (type and noise level)! We were well taken care of and the atmosphere was inviting and temperature was perfect inside!

Three of us had the prime rib. We especially love the fact we could order smaller size entrees, including the prime rib, which was excellent. We were celebrating an anniversary and the staff were all friendly and attentive.

Sebastian, our server, was awesome, and his service was impeccable. I ordered the NE cut Prime Rib and was not impressed. It was dry and had no flavor. Initially, it was served with no au jus and had to ask for it by whoever served it. She brought out about a 2oz portion with a creamy horseradish. Luckily, Sebastian checked on us almost immediately and went and got me a larger portion of au jus. My wife's filet was cooked perfectly, but she asked for the carrots on the side, and everything was served on the same plate. In the long run, my wife enjoyed her meal, and that's what's important.

A great place to go whether you want a full meal or a just a drink and lighter fare. We opted for salads and sliders this time and were not disappointed. Be sure to check out the adjacent hotel lobby with its Maisonette private dining room, a cozy bar, a book showing ads from years ago (dinner $1.00-$1.25; dancing nightly no cover charge but a 75-cent minimum, etc.!).
