Monte's Trattoria is an Italian Restaurant located in the heart of Greenwich Village on MacDougal Street between West 3rd and Bleecker. This vintage Italian restaurant has existed since 1918 and the Mosconi family has continued its rich tradition. Chef Pietro Mosconi delivers authentic Northern Italian dishes from his region of Emilia-Romagna and is often seen in the dining room conversing with patrons.
You'll find a friendly cozy atmosphere. The waiters and bartenders, whom you'll know by name, are always affable and ready to please. Dine as a couple for a romantic dinner, a small private party or as a large group while you take in the sites, sounds and tastes of Greenwich Village. We love Monte’s! It’s like having dinner with family! We had some great apps - Caesar salad, zucchini and cured salmon/asparagus and the Chicken cacciatore, Chicken parm, Chicken piccata and chicken scapariello. All were delicious! Finished with a tiramisu and we were all happy. We’ll see you soon!

Another splendid evening at Monte's ~ the staff is attentive and wonderful, without being overbearing. The food is delicious AND the atmosphere is perfect ~ timeless and fresh at the same time (which gets harder to find in the neighborhood, as the years pass & is to be cherished) ~ it was my mother's favorite dinner spot in the west village for a reason AND remains mine to this day.

Montes is a village staple and a great place to feel that Old New York ambiance with delicious homemade food and an incredible staff. Four of us had dinner last night ranging from appetizers, pastas and veal dishes. We have eaten here several times over the years (growing up in the village), and while the food is always delicious, last night the portion sizes were way off. I never leave hungry from there, but last night I did. My portion of pasta was half of what is usually is, as was my cousins. Even the fried calamari, while super delicious, was very small

My wife and I go there every time we come into the city for a show or concert. The restaurant is absolutely amazing. The food is top notch and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. Our waiter, Daniel, was great. The chef, my compliments to, occasionally comes out and chats with the customers. We highly recommend one to make a reservation. PS- you MUST try the artichoke oreganata appetizer

A fantastic neighborhood Italian restaurant! Monte’s is a must-stop whenever we’re in Manhattan. Sydney was an absolutely fabulous waitress - super attentive and friendly! Food is phenomenal. Always a great experience!

Three waiters were rude and then they would not provide separate checks which we were counting on. Will not return. Restaurant was mostly empty but they would not give me a larger table for two. The other empty tables stayed empty the entire time we were there. If they had reservations it was for some later time.

Made reservation for myself and my partner It was to celebrate our 8yr anniversary as well as a birthday Upon arrival was asked if had reservations? Yes Not asked for name. Ok well maybe only one at the time. Mostly empty restaurant was Sunday so ok. Was sat immediately handed menus and wine list Was barely opened wine list and waiter was pressuring me to pick wine, asked for some tine. 2 min later back I chose a medium priced wine 50$ Then was asked are we ready to order, what ? It hasn’t even been 20 min in restaurant. Ordered an app Eggplant rolatini to start and Said could we have a min to look over entrees. 2 min later back again (ugh) We said we’d like st split a Caesar I ordered as did my Husband. I had chicken he the fett Salad and app showed up together. Mind you we ordered them at sep time on purpose we were out to spend time and money. They cleared the bread away and rushed off I got the waiters attention (who was suddenly away) I said could we get more bread as app was sauced , and I mentioned we aren’t in a rush could you slow down as we hadn’t wanted salad and app at same time (Was tiny table) restaurant had 2 other tables He said he take back app I said no it’s already here I didn’t want it sitting under lamps Could you just slow entree. He apologized and said sure. Well barely dropped fork and low and behold entrees Good for over all .. but why are you rushing me no one was waiting for our table. Poured my own wine whole meal So we usually have a dessert especially if celebrating And after dinner drinks. Got dessert was tasty didn’t feel comfortable ordering a after dinner drink No mention of bday or anniversary (I’m a server so just a congrats ect I don’t need free things) Over all detracted from the night and experience Still tipped 20% cause I’m a server but needs to be better

Fun place Service was good, meal prompt Noise level acceptable, it was busy. The maître did his best to get us a decent table in short time. Food was ok, mine was a pasta that I enjoyed My dinning partner’s meal was a chicken bolognese that was unfortunately not great, but you never really know how food comes out. I would not order that again Caesar salad was good ! I enjoyed the restaurant
