The food was exquisite (kudos to the chef); had the salmon and my husband had the pork loin..both were outstanding. We shared the orange date pudding which was absolutely amazing. Loved the setting but noise level was very high… One of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time; highly recommend but be warned it isn’t a quiet romantic spot despite the wonderful almost hidden setting

Fantastic date night in Edinburgh! Entry is a little obscure with no host desk to help, but once past that, the service and food were outstanding. Had a great evening!

Je recommande à 100% ce restaurant, non seulement le service est très agréable mais surtout la qualité des plats est exceptionnelle. Les saveurs sont au rendez-vous, le tout dans une belle ambiance tamisée. Nous avons passé un merveilleux moment !

Great food in a very nice, cozy but cool ambience. The smoked haddock starter was simply spectacular. A bit on the pricey side.

We had a wonderful dinner and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The salmon was beautifully cooked. Our servers were very attentive. A lovely time for our last meal in Edinburgh.

Loved the restaurant disappointed only having 2 scallops for the price of the starter. Main course was really nice but presentation messy and mismatch on the plate, venison loin was amazing and well cooked. Dessert was delicious

We had a great dinner here in March 2024. We had the pork belly, mushroom and goats cheese wellington and orange sticky date pudding and were very happy

Excellent food, service, ambiance, and drinks! We thoroughly enjoyed everything from pre-dinner drinks to post-dinner coffee. Our service was attentive and warm, and each dish we had was amazing.

The food was outstanding, could not fault a single dish! We were waiting on our starter for longer than we had hoped, but after this the service picked up and all other dishes & drinks were served within good time. The ambience is lovely - a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere with dimmed lighting. I highly recommend this restaurant for couples or friends.

The food is unreal at Monteiths... I honestly couldn't recommend it more. The team and ambience are fantastic too... Worth every single penny.. Cant wait to come back!

An outstanding meal in a great restaurant with terrific ambiance. You will not be disappointed if you book Monteith's, the service was excellent as were the Tiramisu Cocktails. I'll be back!!

Been going to Monteith's for years but only ever for drinks so decided to have dinner and it was outstanding! The food was some of thr best I've ever eaten and the service as always is friendly, warm and just overall amazing!! Will always be a regular for drinks but now also for food! Thank you!

I've been here twice before several years apart and it remains outstanding. I had the scallops to share with my other half, and the venison, whilst she had the fillet steak. Cooked to perfection; the sauces, the seasoning. Everything was just lovely. Despite spending the whole day laughing and chatting together, we were silenced during our meal how much we were enjoying our food. Staff were polite and welcoming, and attended us well without doing the usual waiting until your mouth is full before asking how the food is! The cocktails were nice, as was the wine we had with dinner. I spent £150 on the venison, steak, the scallops, a side of chips, two large glasses of wine and a cocktail. Definitely the upper end of what I'd be paying for a date; I didn't regret a penny. I couldn't recommend Monteith's enough. Such a gem of a place. Thank you kindly to all the staff for making us welcome and comfortable, and especially the chefs for such excellent food.
