We had booked our table 2 months in advance as visiting Edinburgh for the weekend. It was very busy when we arrived on time for our booking. We had popped in earlier in the day and had been told which table we would be have that evening. Unfortunately we were told our table wasn’t ready and not sure how long we would have to wait and were then asked to sit at the bar to wait and were offered tap water rather than a complimentary drink. It was only by chance that another couple left that we were given an alternative table - which wasn’t as nice as the one we had been originally allocated. Once we were seated the service was very good and the food was superb. It was a shame that our initial experience on arrival was disappointing as this could have been handled much better.

Monteiths was great! All the food we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff was extremely welcoming and took time to talk to everyone; they offered some amazing suggestions and couldn’t have been nicer. Easily the best meal I’ve had in Edinburgh, I’ll be back for sure!

The food was exquisite (kudos to the chef); had the salmon and my husband had the pork loin..both were outstanding. We shared the orange date pudding which was absolutely amazing. Loved the setting but noise level was very high… One of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time; highly recommend but be warned it isn’t a quiet romantic spot despite the wonderful almost hidden setting

Fantastic date night in Edinburgh! Entry is a little obscure with no host desk to help, but once past that, the service and food were outstanding. Had a great evening!

Je recommande à 100% ce restaurant, non seulement le service est très agréable mais surtout la qualité des plats est exceptionnelle. Les saveurs sont au rendez-vous, le tout dans une belle ambiance tamisée. Nous avons passé un merveilleux moment !

Great food in a very nice, cozy but cool ambience. The smoked haddock starter was simply spectacular. A bit on the pricey side.

We had a wonderful dinner and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The salmon was beautifully cooked. Our servers were very attentive. A lovely time for our last meal in Edinburgh.

Loved the restaurant disappointed only having 2 scallops for the price of the starter. Main course was really nice but presentation messy and mismatch on the plate, venison loin was amazing and well cooked. Dessert was delicious

We had a great dinner here in March 2024. We had the pork belly, mushroom and goats cheese wellington and orange sticky date pudding and were very happy

Excellent food, service, ambiance, and drinks! We thoroughly enjoyed everything from pre-dinner drinks to post-dinner coffee. Our service was attentive and warm, and each dish we had was amazing.

The food was outstanding, could not fault a single dish! We were waiting on our starter for longer than we had hoped, but after this the service picked up and all other dishes & drinks were served within good time. The ambience is lovely - a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere with dimmed lighting. I highly recommend this restaurant for couples or friends.

The food is unreal at Monteiths... I honestly couldn't recommend it more. The team and ambience are fantastic too... Worth every single penny.. Cant wait to come back!

Been going to Monteith's for years but only ever for drinks so decided to have dinner and it was outstanding! The food was some of thr best I've ever eaten and the service as always is friendly, warm and just overall amazing!! Will always be a regular for drinks but now also for food! Thank you!
