Afin de maintenir une transparence totale envers leurs clients, le restaurant s'approvisionne de produits locaux et internationaux frais et de la meilleure qualité possible, afin de les mettre en évidence dans leur cuisine et/ou de les vendre dans leur établissement. There simply was not enough entree choices to select from. We had to pay $10pp upfront just to make the reservation. This fee was supposed to include bubbly for the graduate and a small taster for everyone else to toast the graduate. Our graduate got a glass of white wine and nothing for the rest.

Food and drink were good. Nothing spectacular and prices high for drinks especially. $14 for a glass of wine. That better be some really fine wine... I think the plating of the food appears to be what you pay for more than the quality or taste which I would say is good but not extraordinary in any way. Recommend but with this cautionary note. Depends on what someone is going for. Also the high ceilings made it quite loud.

this is always my spot for a dinner date! it’s good value for pretty great food, along with an excellent location. service is attentive, without being too rushed. you can stay for an hour or three, whatever is the vibe

Cocktails, food and ambience were very good. The fried cheese curd appetizer blew me away. It was amazing. We are occasional visitors to Madison and Wisconsin so we do not have cheese curds regularly, but I have tried a bunch in Madison. These were phenomenal! I look forward to coming back here next time I am in town.

Would highly recommend going to Merchant if you're looking for a high quality meal with great service and a nice atmosphere.

We were worried it would be too fancy for our kids (3.5 and 11 months), but they made us feel very welcome. They had a kids menu and coloring, and were thoughtful about getting the kids food quickly. Such a gem to find a place that feels fancy enough for date night but also fine for kids!

We chose this restaurant for a 21st bday dinner - they were very nice - offered complimentary glass of champagne and free dessert! Totally unexpected but appreciated. The cocktail drinks were excellent and starters were great. The only downside was that they have a brunch oriented and limited menu on Sundays (and my fault for not digging deeper into website.) That was not what we were hoping for.

We had the ceviche, there was a lack of shrimp, the shrimp was overcooked (marinated too long),lack of fresh most likely made too far in advance, vegetables, mostly cucumbers(more like a cucumber salad) and the saltines as part of this dish was sad, should have been tortilla chips, tostadas, fresh sour dough bread or crostini bread. Rate only on the ceviche. Normally rate a 4-5 on other items.
