Service was amazing. The staff are nice and personable and being in an old small house was charming. The foie gras and table side made Cesar salad were 5 star delicious. The pork chop and the halibut were both dry and lacking flavor. But their sauces saved them and the sides were excellent. It was all but impossible to cut the pork chop because it was dry and because it was served in a bowl. Somewhat strange I thought. I wonder if anyone on staff has tried it out.

We chose Marx Bros to celebrate our 53rd annivaersry. Selected 5:30 as our reservation time thinking about parking availability and were able to park out front. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman who took my coat and seated us in front of the window for a sensational view of the inlet. For starters, we ordered Van’s Caesar Salad, of course, which was prepared at our table and was fresh and as delicious as I remembered. Our main course were perfectly prepared tender Filet Mignons accompanied by yummy roasted potatoes and shiitake mushrooms. We purposely ate only half of our dinner to save room for dessert, Warm Berry Crisp, which I topped off with a cup of fine coffee. We had a lovely time. The meal was spectacular. The staff were attentive to all our needs. We couldn’t have made a better celebratory choice.

It was our first time at Marx Bros. We have always heard wonderful things about them for years. And they did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. You could tell that most if not all the food was house made. The Caesar salad is the best I’ve ever had. Truly a great experience. Though not the most affordable place in town, you definitely get your money’s worth. Instantly can tell the difference in the far superior quality of the food at Marx Bros over other places like Simon’s, Brewhouse, Suite 100, Kincaid Grill, Altura Bistro, etc.

As always, Marx Bros was a perfect place to celebrate my trip around the sun. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the atmosphere so sophisticated. It is always fun to get to play dress up!

Only just got 4 stars, it is one of Anchorage’s best restaurants but it just didn’t meet my expectations. It snowed and the walk/steps were not shoveled. Doesn’t affect the meal but for what is “one of the best” this is slacking. No specials. . . . . Ok, but again for “one of the best” this seems like slacking. Word is “The Marx Bros.” Is for sale. Again, it is one of the best in Anchorage but it feels like the “man behind the curtail” is loosing interest. I did enjoy the meal (Seafood Neapolitan for starters, scallops for dinner, and cheesecake for desert) but it didn’t quite meet the overall satisfaction I wanted. I’ve gone to Marx Bros off and on since 1979; it could just be me.

Marx Brothers Restaurant continues to be THE FINEST dining experience in Alaska. Food is fantastic, and service is elegant and efficient. For more than 40 years, my wife and I have celebrated our most important and enjoyable occasions here. To paraphrase Arnold: We will be back!

It is Marx Brothers. Everything was flawless as usual. A little expensive, but it is fine dining so on par with other comparable restaurants, but it is unmatched with intimacy, quality, and presentation. It is my go to restaurant if I want to celebrate something extra special or to make an impression.

Incredible meal! A seat by the fireplace, a beautiful bottle of wine, and incredible food. In one of the oldest homes in Anchorage, the menu changes nightly, and features fresh local seafood. We enjoyed table-side Caesar salad, lobster bisque, seared Kodiak scallops with housemade pasta, pistachio-crusted Alaska King Salmon, cheesecake, and amazing, friendly service.

The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented; the service just right. Our table was less than desirable, as I was sitting in a doorway, in a relatively high-traffic area. Still, we enjoyed it immensely and will definitely eat here again.

First and last time at the Marx Bros restaurant. Superb location with a view, nice decor, and very nice staff. Has an extended, wine list, however selection is rather primitive. The food was disturbing, if not disgusting. We had seafood mousse, foie gras torchon, seared kodiak scallops, and the tea smoked duck. Seafood mousse was spongy and tough. Foie gras was still frozen. Superior Kodiak Scallops did not survive the kitchen massacre. They were boiled rather than seared. On the side they had some sort of wannabe pasta with sorry imitation of pink alfredo, which was called "Paquillla pepper-truffle veloute". Not sure if chef has seen or tasted 'veloute'. The triumph was the duck. Neither the duck, not the sorry, stinky, mushy, mess underneath it, were edible. The duck was old, stale and rubbery. The mess underneath was disgusting to even look at, although we tried a bite or two to confirm the visual. Our advise to the owners is to get a CHEF! On the bright side, the dessert was very impressive. One of the best creme brulee and chocolate mousse we have ever had. That's what earned the food a star in our review. Our advice is to go there, order dessert and sip port, and wait till they get a chef! If you're hungry go somewhere else. Start with Kincaid Grill.

My wife and I dined at Marx Bros for our anniversary. Service was excellent, food quite good. What we ordered: Pork belly - just okay, probably skip next time Table Caesar salad for 2 - Unbelievably Good! Highly recommend Tea smoked Duck - excellent, duck was cooked perfect Scallops - again excellent and cook just right Tiramisu for dessert, Devine !
