    There’s really only two places to go for a nice dinner and this is one of them. The other wasn’t any better. This place has potential with the ambiance but the people at the bar ruin the vibe because the bar area is not closed off to the dining room. I ordered swordfish and it was overdone but I did not send it back. It was an expensive meal to be cooked incorrectly but I never send food back. The pasta that it came with was delicious and there was plenty of pasta on the plate. The dining room did get crowded before we left so I suggest reservations. I was not overly impressed but I would go back. As I said, not a lot of options but the service was good and the pasta was amazing.

    Great food and great service. Convenient location and very friendly staff. Portions are huge. The chowda and the lobster roll were top notch.

    Segor our server was INCREDIBLE. The server suggested a chef special and it wasn't on the menu, it was a surf and turf Asian burrito and absolutely INCREDIBLE. the server was what made our dining experience 10/10. Food was out of this world!

    A fun place for out of town visitors. We live on the island for about a third of the year so know the island restaurants well. Ordered a lobster roll which was $38. The server asked me if I would like it made their traditional way with some pieces of well cooked bacon. The roll was coated with bacon grease. Thought he could have explained it better. Some well cooked bacon is not lobster doused in bacon grease. Wife didn’t love her food either. good chowder though

    The food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the innovative lobster guacamole appetizer, and the to-die-for chocolate cake. Everything on MV is pricey, this place no more than others. A bit loud, hard to converse . . . but that too is true of pretty much any popular place here in season. Service was mostly good, although dessert took a very long time to come, which we would not have minded except our 16 month old was getting to the end of her rope. Generally, highly recommended!

    After all the text messages, we were finally able to experience the restaurant. Great time, wonderful service and just a super meal! Thank You and well worth it. Now you will see more of us when coming to the island.

    My husband and I had a lovely meal at the bar while waiting for our ferry. The friendly bartender brewed us up some great cocktails, and they have a good wine selection. The clam chowder is easily the best I've had. We shared an order of swordfish piccata as well, and it was also good. The reason I haven't given the food five stars is that both the chowder and the main dish were VERY salty, definitely to a fault. So while I loved the fact that the chowder wasn't thick and gloopy like so many others, and that it was filled with fresh clams and that the clam flavor wasn't overshadowed by bacon, I'm glad I only had a cup--anything more would have been a salt lick. I have been a culinary professional for 24 years. I understand that it's common for restaurants to salt more than home cooks, but the chef at the Chowder House needs to dial it back a notch. Thanks for a lovely evening. We really did enjoy ourselves.

    We received oysters on time but there was dirt on them. The horseradish on the cocktail sauce was old and dried up. It was almost unrecognizable. We did not receive a plate for our oyster shells. The tofu salad was a large bowl of lettuce that was wet without dressing and 10 cubes on tofu. Another order with fries had a hair in them. The Ahi Tuna was fine but was not very flavorful. An order of fried cod was thrown onto the plate seemingly, not in one piece. Our server was literally running from one end of the restaurant to the other. He was making drinks, clearing dishes, and correcting other orders that were sent back. This reflects poorly on management with the restaurant being understaffed. Our server apologized to us even though we didn’t say anything. He did a good job but service was at its limit. Food quality was good but with the number of staff it was difficult for the front of the restaurant to work effectively with the back and vice versa to meet the demand. It is not a good look especially with a $20 cancellation fee per person. Obviously there is a high standard from the restaurant, it should be reflected to the customer.
