Food was excellent as was our server. Sat outside and the heaters were perfect to keep us very comfortable even though it was a cool evening. Much quieter outside so highly recommend.

This is one of the best steakhouses that I've been to. The staff is really knowledgeable not only about their steaks, but I but about the drinks and wines. It was conveniently located right across the street from our hotel and at the corner of the Gaslamp District. I will definitely come back

We enjoyed our first dining experience overall. The pros: Good service Strong cocktails from the bar Great ambiance, we went before heading to a Padres fans, it was relaxed and not too uptight like other steakhouses The mids: Wait time for our steaks and entrees was longer than I’d like, they came out warm but not hot, it was obvious that it had been waiting to be served Wait time all around from bread, cocktails, to apps the dinner. Too big of a time gap in between Chocolate cake dessert was not good, it tasted store bought from a grocery store Espresso was burnt and bitter I would like to come back but afraid that the temperature of the food we’ll be served will be the same. We purchased a Wagyu Ribeye and to have to enjoy it warm at best was disappointing, especially given the cost.

Too loud and too expensive. The service was excellent and the food was good, but not great. I probably will not dine there again.

Adam our server, was awesome. Our drinks, our food and our service was amazing! Jim, Manager, came by to check up on us and everything was delicious. Can’t wait to return!!

Our server was quick to greet us and to answer our questions about the menu (this was our first visit). Gave great recommendations, although those dry aged steaks were just too large for us to give them a try (started at 24 oz!!), even sharing, since we were staying at a hotel and wouldn't be able to take leftovers. We ended up ordering the sirloin. It was so tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned! The soup and salad we ordered were both delicious, as well! Even though this isn't the type of restaurant we could go to on a regular basis, it was a delicious treat and definitely worth the price!

Lou & Mickey's is one of the best restaurants in all of San Diego. My family and I love it for the ambience, the wonderful staff, and the delicious food. Their steaks are out of this world and my brother who is a vegetarian has declared the salmon to be the best he has ever had. The prices are very reasonable given the excellence of everything on the menu. We have been dining there for decades and have never been disappointed. Our waiter even found a delicious slice of chocolate cakes for the birthday boy, and it was so big that everyone at our table was given a slice. The service from the front desk to the wait staff to the people in the kitchen are all well trained and very talented.

The appetizers were ok (nothing special) but the prime ribeye steak was absolutely phenomenal… like top 3 steaks I have had.

Have walked by this place many many times and have avoided going there because it is in a huge tourist area. We decided to walk over and try it and were pleasantly surprised. I put it on par with Del Frisco’s or Ruths Chris. All three of these are walking distance and Lou and Mickeys has the best lively atmosphere with the added benefit of fantastic people watching. Food was great and service was even better!

Having dined here a number of times, we have a reference for what the Lou & Mickey's dining experience should be like. This time the experience was sub-par. Service was fine but the actual meal was not up to expectation. Medium temperature ribeye was delivered as well done, and the medium rare tenderloin came out as very rare....

Great steaks! Came in at 6:00 before a 7:00 p.m. concert. Our server Adam was very attentive and got us out by 6:45 p.m. Kudos to the kitchen staff getting our order prepared and served promptly. Will definitely come back when we have more time to enjoy, perhaps a weekend brunch.

We reserved a standard table several weeks ago. Outside table was an option but we didn’t want or reserve outside. We arrived and they attempted to seat us outside on a cold & windy day. When we requested indoor the hostess said we could only sit at an indoor/outdoor table in the bar area. After seated it took 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Finally someone, who was not our server, offered to open our wine and took our appetizer order. Then a manager arrived, apologized for the wait, and said she would comp us dessert and/or drinks at the end of our meal. My wife ordered a wedge without the bacon (she’s a vegetarian). The salad arrived with bacon and she immediately told the person who brought it that she is a vegetarian and it was to have no bacon. He then asked if she wanted them to “pick it off” or “do we have to make you a new one.” Of course she wanted a new one, this is supposed to be a nice restaurant. She would have picked it off herself if that was ok with her. When our server showed up, she seemed indifferent that the salad was brought with meat. Halfway through our meal, two more people were seated at our 4-top table. We proceeded to pick at our entrees, which were mediocre to gross, and not worth the price. We then had the apple tart, which was good, plus after dinner drinks. When the check arrived, nothing was comped. We paid and left, disappointed with a terrible experience.

We went yesterday before the Sting/Billy Joel Concert and loved it! The restaurant has a unique classic ambiance to it and to us, it is sure the place to be in Downtown San Diego and in the Gaslamp Quarter area! The restaurant has been in business since 1945! Our server Libby was fabulous and such a doll! She knows about what the best items on the menu are and everything in between about Lou & Mickey’s! Marla & Yale Baum, Desert Hot Springs, CA

Enjoyed Burger & fries Fish n Chips was extremely greasy with mostly breading and little fish. 😕 Chicken Caesar salad was delicious Butter for bread was amazing. Locals from San Diego and dined before Padre Game.

I dined at L&M on April 8th(I know, I’m behind), and it was my first time dining here! The staff was so friendly and professional. My girlfriend and I were seated at a window seat with a view of the convention center and Main Street, it was a great ambiance in the restaurant . Our server (Kathy or Kimberly, I can’t remember and I deeply apologize!) was so hospitable and made sure to answer any questions we had about the menu. She gave us some suggestions, which were the ones we were thinking of ordering. She timed our cocktails and apps out well and made sure our entrees were out in a timely manner. It was such a pleasant and welcoming experience, definitely will come back again! Also thank you to the managers on duty , they touched our tables and we couldn’t stop giving positive feedback.

Karlton is the best! We fly into San Diego every other month and he remembers us! So many choices in downtown but we definitely come back here bc of his hospitality. Fave is the clam linguini and apple tart dessert.
