The description "Neighborhood gem" definitely applies to Libertad. It is a world apart from the typical 'local' restaurant, with a creative menu and an upscale attitude about the dining experience.

Great little neighborhood gem. Very good food and drinks. Need some padding on the walls to absorb the noise. We were screaming at each other across the table and could not hear. Service/ staff was great. Check it out. Need reservations for sure.

Unique themed dinner for ARETTE TEQUILA BRAND. Excellent service and accommodated a vegetarian diner with meal items that were not on the mostly meat Mexican prix fixed dinner..

The patio was nice, however the floor of the patio are wood boards, and the boards would flex so much when someone walked by our table I was worried my water glass was going to fall over. We were also seated in the center table on the patio, so we had servers walking by on both sides of our table, so it was distracting. I’d suggest taking that table out all together- it’s not a good experience for diners. Food was great, definitely get the chicken flautas- they were amazing. We also had the asparagus with crab salad- there were still stringy ends of the asparagus- need to cut those off. My husband had the pork chops with salsa, and I had the grilled octopus. His pork chops were great (order envy) and my octopus was very tender, but the rub on it was a bit overpowering. Definitely have the tres leches for desert, or better yet share it- it’s big enough. Drinks were very good and fresh- a bit on the strong side but mellowed out as you drank it.

We’ve been to Libertad many times and always love it! The food and drinks are consistently delicious (so glad the hummus is back…and warning that the shrimp is spicy!) We enjoy sitting in the covered patio and will be back again soon! Highly recommend this cute Skokie gem!

Took my work team there for a celebratory dinner. Was very good food and great service. Was just a little on the pricey side.

Libertad offers outdoor seating; however, as of May 8, the patio was completely enclosed by a tent. I'm not sure if the tent was seasonal, but the patio didn't offer the benefits of fresh air and sunshine. There were also some loose floor boards, so my chair shook whenever someone walked by. The menu isn't separated in to appetizers and entrees, but our server pointed out the smaller dishes that could serve as an appetizer. There were two of us, and it was suggested that we order 3 dishes, 4 if we were really hungry. We ordered the broccoli, papas, pulpo & carne asada. The broccoli dish was MASSIVE, even though it was pointed out as one of the smaller dishes. I think there were four crowns of broccoli, which were kind of overwhelmed by sesame seeds. The rest of the dishes were generously sized as well and very delicious!
