Le Bouchon Brasserie and Hotel est un monument classé de grade II de style géorgien vieux de 300 ans, entièrement rénové afin de lui rendre sa gloire passée. La période de rénovation a permis d'allier certaines des caractéristiques d'antan de l'édifice à des meubles et à un décor de style classique qui complètent le style original de la maison. Le Bouchon Brasserie propose un mélange de cuisines française et britannique servies dans un cadre relaxant et intime. Dégustez un repas du menu à la carte ou choisissez dans la grande sélection de formules disponibles à différents moments au cours de la semaine. À côté du Bouchon, vous pourrez admirer le superbe canal de navigation Chelmer and Blackwater ouvert en 1797, qui s'étend sur 22 km depuis le bassin de Springfield de Chelmsford à l'écluse du bassin d'Heybridge, à proximité de Maldon. Food was OK, but certainly not special considering the price. Gravy was very runny, beef could of been cooked more and to pay extra for having all three meats, I don't mind but for that the portion size of the meats and the veg were small.

Went to celebrate my birthday and had a great meal. It was not busy as it was a Thursday but the service and food were excellent. I tried the French menu and dally enjoyed the food. The main pork loin dish was delicious and overall this set price menu offered great value for money. My wife had the prawn starter and Beef fillet of the main menu and she really enjoyed both of them. Thank you for a nice evening and we will be back (soon)

Have been many times and did not disappoint on this visit either Food was excellent with the fillet of beef being wonderfully tender and cooked well Service was also good Had a very nice evening and will be back again soon

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at Le Bouchon & they cater exceptionally well with my gluten & dairy intolerances most meals can be adapted. We are always looked after very well by the staff who are very attentive without being intrusive. It has a lovely ambience which makes you feel very relaxed.

Fantastic venue with excellent food and service. We were made to feel very special as we were celebrating our 30th Anniversary As a chef I appreciate all the attention to detail and the flavour of the freshly cooked foods. I highly recommend Le Bouchon.

Fabulous service always, just very disappointed to not have roast lamb for an Easter Sunday choice. I should have checked online I suppose.

We had a wonderful evening dining with you. The new menu is very interesting. We had the Scallops to start and the Hake for main. Both dishes were beautifully presented and were delicious. Our waiter James was very knowledgeable about both the food and drinks menu. He served us with pride and kindness

Excellent, friendly but not over-stuffy greeting. Natural welcome and order taking from waitress. Young waiter splashed large quantity of gravy over the table as he lowered the plate, for which he apologised, but didn’t offer any additional gravy. Close-up magician was nice unexpected touch (his tone was perfect for the surroundings). Our departure was also subtly but warmly acknowledged which rounded off an enjoyable experience. Food-wise, the duck croquette, singular on plate but plural on menu, was underwhelming predominantly through lack of seasoning. Main roast was a substantial meal and the vegetables were the best we’d had for a Sunday roast. Desserts were well presented and the right size following such a large roast. Would happily return.

Booked for a special occasion, was slightly disappointed with our table position as was amongst large groups who were particularly noisy. My main gripe was the time allowed between our starter and main course, our main was served before we had time to digest our starter. Also our mains weren’t particularly hot, which is probably why they were rushed to us. Again we were offered a dessert before we had time to digest the main course, it was as if they were trying to rush us out. Disappointed as this was meant to be a special occasion.

Fantastic lunch. We chose the set French menu and it was such good value for money. food was plentiful and very tasty. The service was brilliant, attentive but not too much and the lady that served us was lovely. I scored only 3 stars for ambience as it was so quiet at lunchtime, would have been nice if more people were in but it didnt spoil anything. Will be back!

Very nice restaurant, good food and very professional staff. Some delay waiting for the menus but it did not spoil the meal, I would highly recommend this restaurant, it is far better than most in this part of Essex

One of my favourite restaurants in and around the chelmsford area. Excellent staff and consistently wonderful food. We had the tasting menu which was really good - try it.

Valentines meal for my husband and myself, shown to our table promptly and coats taken. Menus given quickly, choice of A La Carte or a Valentine Special, both menus quite a variety. Starter of Chicken Parfait adapted with sour dough bread for me, large portion for a starter, very tasty. My husband had the beef choice for main, requested medium to well cooked but was a little on the rare side but not enough to want it changed. I had the lamb, it was delicious. Cheese for desert which again was a large portion. Overall the food was very good, not overly priced either. The atmosphere is very good, felt comfortable there and not rushed, waitress assured us the table was ours for the evening which enables you to relax a bit more, lots of restaurants we go to have two sittings, ie Smiths, which only leaves you a two hour slot, therefore does lead to you feeling pressured. Would definitely go back to Le Bouchon Brasserie.

Booked a table for valentines lunch time, it was quite in the restaurant so not much atmosphere but even still service was all ok but just not great and felt it let down the experience, plus the chocolate dessert was disappointing and dare I say a tad bland, sorry but compared to the rest of the food it was a let down!

Very quiet on arrival so had some qualms but the welcome could not have been warmer or more efficient and the food and wine were of excellent quality and value. We will certainly be back - highly recommended.
