I've always imagined that restaurants at the Mission Inn would reflect the quality of the hotel, so the idea of going to Las Campanas for our anniversary dinner was no brainer. I hadn't bothered to read the Yelp reviews, because why would I need to? The ambience was pleasant, and we were seated in short order. I ordered the Carne Asada plate, with the carne asada medium, and my wife ordered the cheese enchiladas. As soon as the plate arrived, I should have known something was amiss since there was a very apparent streak of gristle covering the middle of the chunk of carne asada. I ate the outside edges which were very overcooked. Once i tried to eat parts of the middle, it was so bad, I couldn't cut through it with the provided knife. Every single nibble I was able to tear away was overcooked and most of what was served was inedible. It was shockingly appalling. To say that I was disappointed with the experience would be a vast understatement. To his credit, my waiter did offer to have the meal remade, but it would have been a colossal waste of time since there's no way I would even feed that to my cats. Also to his credit, he did leave an apology for the carne asada on full priced, unadjusted bill as well, so that was pleasant. On a positive note, I've had many mediocre meals at various restaurants over the years which fade with time. Had this meal made it anywhere close to the threshold of mediocre, I would have never left a review and it too would have faded into the lost jumble of forgettable meals. This experience , however, stands alone as the single worst meal of my adult life and has attained the status of unforgettable. So, thank you, Las Campanas, for providing me an anniversary memory I'll never forget. In conclusion, and I cannot say this more emphatically: I'd heavily recommend you trying other options.

The food was great, however, our main server was very rude when asked about separate checks for a party of 4 based on information given by open table when reservation was made. She proceeded to chastise us, stating regardless of what OpenTable says the rules of the restaurant are… then went on to explain that if the party is 6 or more checks can’t be separated. Which was unnecessary as we were a party of 4 with a 4 person reservation! The young lady that was assisting the service was polite and very attentive.

The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The weather was perfect so it was so nice to sit on the patio and the other diners were laughing and having a wonderful time so the ambiance was just wonderful.

Usually we have a good lunch at Las Campanas but our favorite dish the open face quesadilla is no longer on the menu. This lunch service was the slowest we have ever had. Lunch and appetizer order was placed at 12:15 and the we didn’t get out appetizer until 12:45 with entrees finally served at 12:50. I got the “mini” carne asada taco plate. Two small street tacos with flavorless rice and beans. The tacos were ok but nothing special at $19 for the plate. The chips had no salt and were lacking in flavor. The waiter mentioned they have new management in place and in my opinion, the changes may be effecting the quality of the food and organization. Still a beautiful location for lunch but this visit was a miss.

We checked in and we were seated promptly. Appetizer was very good and they was tasty. We had drinks that were very strong and tasty. Waitress was nice. We had a nice comfortable meal.
