we went here for our anniversary last night and it was the best restaurant we have been to in a long while! everything was perfect, the food, the ambiance, the wine, and the staff were spectacular on every level! we have definitely found our new favorite place and will be returning!

We arrived 20mins early at this cozy neighborhood gem & got seated immediately. We had the Escargots En Gueusaille & Mushroom soup (of the day), Crispy Chicken Breast & pan seared Rib eye steak..all delicious. We shared a Valrhona Chocolate Fondant for dessert which was good. Table service was excellent & we plan to dine again at L’Ardoise Bistro together with our friends.

Excellent as always. Wine list is varied and priced reasonably. Mushroom soup and Goat Cheese salad were incredible. Mary’s chicken in succulent and they weee happy to swap out the cooked spinach (yuck) with another delicious veggie. Floating Island with strawberries carmel and almonds topped us off nicely.

Thank goodness this French bistro exists! The brussels sprout salad, escargot in parsley sauce and the starter ravioli are all mouth watering. I’ve only been here twice but I intend to know the menu by heart very soon!! Bon apetit

What a find! Fabulous food!! Friendly, unobtrusive, attentive service. Noise level was bustling but we could easily have a conversation at a table for 4. This is an elegant, comfortable, french, neighborhood restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Exactly what we prefer in a casual French restaurant. Everything was excellent, the ravioli starter is alone worth a trip to L'Ardoise. Wine selection includes mostly French selections with excellent values in red Burgundy. The best cut f meat is the filet. I suggest asking the server to greatly reduce the size of the delicious potato side as they are overwhelming.

The food was excellent. The Tiger Prawn Ravioli was incredible. We had rib eye and that was excellent. They did not charge us to split the steak as my husband and I can’t eat one individually. And they gave us each the same portion of sides which I felt was excellent. The pricing is reasonable considering how wonderful the food, service and atmosphere is.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Ambiance and noise level was great, however we were the first seating of the night. We would go back in a minute. Try the lamb and risotto- beyond incredible. Great glass of Rhône to pair.

Our first visit, curious after a first visit to Mathilde shortly before. We loved both but found the food and wine even better at yours, plus the setting and ambience were truly outstanding--classic bistro in a wonderful neighborhood where the staff seemed to know all the customers. Couldn't have been better, and we plan to bring our adult kids here when they visit.

Very special restaurant! Authentic French vibe and truly delicious food. We will certainly return. Only downside is we felt a little rushed to order, finish, and vacate to make room for the next reservation; understandable given the limited number of tables and the apparent need to turn them, but unexpected nevertheless. Otherwise, everything is on point including the warm welcome. Highly recommend!

The food and the staff are wonderful. Very attentive service without being overbearing. The only negative is the size of the restaurant is very small & the tables are very close together, making it difficult to get in & out of some of the seats with ease & grace!

L'Ardoise is an absolutely charming French bistro in a residential area, an easy block or so walk from the Market-Sanchez muni/bus stop. The food was simply wonderful from start to finish. Appetizers: tiger prawn ravioles and escargot in crispy potato cups. Entrees: coq au vin and duck leg confit. Desserts: Valrhona chocolate fondant and floating island (meringue) in caramel sauce with creme anglaise. Lovely wine selection to go along with anything you choose. Our server, Raoul was truly kind, helpful, and attentive without being over-solicitous. You really should make reservations, but if you're in the area, stop in and give it a shot--they also do takeaway, if you can't get a seat. ALL the stars to L'Ardoise!!

We always try to book this place every time we come to San Francisco- it’s that good! They are always consistent in food quality and flavor. Their service is friendly and attentive. They go out of their way to take of us. Perfect place for a lovely dinner!

The point of reserving a table for a special occasion is to have a table for the occasion. The table that was offered to us was the same small tables offered to walk-ins. Patrons were below to elbow. I specifically requested to be seated side-by-side but that was not accommodated. The food was flavorful and authentic but the “dessert” they sent out for birthday was whipped cream (probably from a can) with a candle. What an embarrassing presentation from French restaurant. Overall, the food was good but we were not impressed with the services.
