Excellent service, super friendly staff, heaters more than adequate to keep the rooftop comfy in winter, great music, phenomenal food. Absolutely a 10/10.

We love this underground cosy dining room with its calming ambience and rich decor. Service was a team effort and collectively it was warm, professional and efficient. The mulled wine offering is a stroke of genius- hot and indulgent. Lucky there’s a sign out on the street promoting it. Otherwise the wine and drinks list is all we need it to be- covers the range and geography nicely. I’m glad to see conventional wine glasses in use. Gnocchi is superb- in this case less is more with this simple hearty dish done well. A green salad is part of the deal, presented nicely if a bit underwhelming. The Moat is a beloved go-to central Melbourne restaurant for us and will continue to be.
