In the mountains of North Georgia the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1922. Restored in 2008, the hotel and restaurant offer the best of rustic elegance. From the antique heart pine walls to the locust beams on our deck, expect unique, local craftsmanship. The decor is rich with period antiques, hand-woven rugs, and local artwork.

It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."

Overall it was pretty good but didn’t live up to the hype that I found on the internet when I was researching places to eat in the area. The food was not bad, but pretty typical and nothing super special. The website made it sound like it was elevated farm to table dishes and that wasn’t the case. Typical American dining experience but the service was great and the waitress was very sweet and attentive.

What an unexpectedly delicious dinner in a beautiful restaurant with so much character and personality. I had the pecan crusted trout and it was the most delicious meal I’ve probably ever had! The kids had lobster rolls which were also delicious. My husband had shrimp and grits, and although that was ok, I know he wished he had ordered my dish. I will definitely come back here next time I’m back this way.

Service and food were excellent. We had the pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam. It was perfect for sharing. Our entrees were pecan crusted trout and broiled salmon. Both came with a variety of vegetables. The food could not have been better. Two incidents caused less than perfect marks. Initially, the sun was setting and shining directly in my face. No offer was made to reseat us, and other tables were available and were not used while we were dining. Sitting next to us was a couple so close we could have participated in their conversation; one of them even tried to include us in their disagreement. All in all we had a wonderful meal and would not hesitate to return.

We came for brunch and had a 1:00pm reservations. Arrived at 12:50 and we did not get seated until 1:15pm because they only had one server and had to stagger seating to accommodate the short staff. Once seated outside we waited to be served about 10minutes. Food came out pretty quick and was delicious. However, had to wait several minutes for waitress to return so we could request salt/pepper which weren't on the table, and for drink refills which we emptied waiting to order. Overall the Inn has a wonderful ambience, and food is excellent. Just need to tweak the service. For instance the Hostess does not seem to be doing anything in-between waiting to seat people. Why can't she refill drinks, get salt/pepper. She walked past our table several times and when we asked her for things, she just said that she would tell the waitress. REALLY! It would have taken her 2 seconds to get water and salt/pepper. Instead she was going to tell the ONLY waitress to do it. Then she didn't even do that. You need to cross train your staff, and maybe get some more if possible. We know that all restaurants are having problems right now. I will say as locals service is one of the main reasons we don't choose this location for dinner as often. The servers are all great and friendly, its just that there are not enough.

We have eaten here many times over the last decade, and I must say that my dinner last night was one of the best ever! The current chef is doing a great job bringing some new options to the menu, and the salmon I had last night was amazing--perfectly cooked with an innovative "crust" of feta and dill...which was not a crust at all, really...just a lovely thin layer of melted feta with some seasonings that was much more of a topping than a crust. Delicious!!! My dinner companion had a bison burger which he said was quite good. There were twice the previous number of salad options, and we tried a new one--all ingredients were fresh and wonderful. Our service was excellent also. If you have not been to Lake Rabun Hotel restaurant in awhile, come back and see what's new!

Our server Jesse was great, very charming and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. We had a party of four and all ordered cocktails, which were made perfectly. The dinner was delicious. We loved it and definitely will return soon.

We were very impressed with our visit to this restaurant. The food was delicious and the presentation was perfect. We had the most delightful waitress. Her name was Taylor! She was very professional but very friendly and had a great personality! We will definitely be back. We appreciate so much that this restaurant did not play loud music. Thank you!!
