Le restaurant La Masseria est inspiré des anciennes fermes fortifiées appelées "Masseria" dans la région des Pouilles en Italie. Le chef exécutif et co-propriétaire Pino Coladonato a grandi dans une ferme de la région des Pouilles. Parce qu'il était obligé de manger ce qui était disponible et qu'il s'est vite lassé de manger de la purée de haricots, il a décidé de prendre les choses en main et d'être créatif en utilisant les mêmes ingrédients. Même avec la multitude d'ingrédients qu'il a à portée de main, les fèves, les pois chiches et les lentilles restent un élément de base de ses plats. La décoratrice d'intérieur Libby Langdon a créé une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante, rustique et décontractée, avec tout plein de charme du vieux monde. De grands bougeoirs en fer fabriqués sur mesure à partir de portails en fer forgé antiques ponctuent les murs, tandis que des outils agricoles d'époque exposés de façon artistique avec diverses photographies italiennes authentiques accentuent le côté fermier. La carte des vins, qui compte 250 bouteilles, représente toutes les régions d'Italie et comporte quelques-unes des meilleures bouteilles américaines et du reste du monde.

The food was very good but they cram too many tables & it’s very tight. We were sitting in the middle where the waiters were constantly squeezing by to get to other tables & it was pretty annoying. I ordered pasta & had to wait like 5 minutes to get the waiters attention for grated cheese. Not a place to go if you want to enjoy a nice, relaxing dinner.

The pasta was very fresh especially the mushroom ravioli which was a little dry but delicious non the less. The apple tart was so yum. The service was excellent and I asked the waiter not to rush us between courses and he said no problem.

My dinner was flavorful but very rich and heavy. Had I been at home, not on vacation, I would have happily taken it home. There was enough leftover for two additional meals. As it was I wasted much of this expensive meal

The manager could not be more gracious and friendly. The servers were attentive, responsive and very accommodating to a young child with us. The food was outstanding and generously sized. In a city with unlimited Italian options, this is a reliable standout and so delicious. My out of town guests all loved the food and the service.

Everything about this neighborhood gem is simply fabulous. Near many of Times Square theaters, we always have at least one dinner here, when visiting NY and especially in conjunction with a Broadway show. We celebrated a birthday recently-- 5 ladies-- we shared several appetizers and entrees, and we literally couldn't name a single favorite, because everything was simply delicious!

A shame we were seated so far up and at back on the balcony! We asked for 2 Aperol spritz with white wine, not prosecco and ended up with white wine spritz, which we questioned with the waiter, and then we got the right drink. The Steak at $74 was a sad state. The chicken parmigiana was so saturated in cheese it didn’t really taste of much else. Nice to get a birthday song from 2-waiters, when others had all the waiters, I guess climbing the stairs to the balcony seats was too much effort, but nothing else, as we ordered one dessert to share and that’s all we got. Not a great experience all around. A shame, as it was my birthday dinner.

We came to La Masseria with high hopes and were left pretty disappointed. We had a 10pm reservation, which I understand is the late reservation, however we were seeing a Broadway show around the corner which started at 7pm. The show got done relatively early, ~9:30pm and we made our way to La Masseria. Front of house staff was very nice and considerate, we were sat right away. The issue was that as soon as we sat down, everything felt very rushed. The waiter within 5 minutes of us sitting down asked if we knew what we'd like to order, when I responded not yet he said that the kitchen was closing very soon. This was at 9:50, 10 minutes before our scheduled reservation. I get that it was late on a Sunday night, but isn't this New York? When we did get food, it was simply okay. The Bolognese was very good, the chicken parmesan that I had was under-seasoned and covered in a half inch thick mozzarella. Overall, disappointed, and would not recommend.

Very accommodating. We started with a party of four, and someone else came to join us, and they quickly gave us a table for five. Excellent service and great food with nice portions as well. The The fried zucchini appetizer was excellent! Good variety of specials.

As usual, the food was amazing. I had the gluten free penne and it was just as delicious as the original! They also sang to my daughter and gave us a free dessert for her birthday. We love to visit La Masseria when we are in the city!

Great experience! The staff from hostess to waiter were very pleasant. The staff seemed seasoned and all worked well together. The menu had a very good selection and the items we ordered were very satisfying. Would highly recommend this place.

La Masseria was and is always a wonderful dining experience. The food is superb, which, as a native Italian cook, I feel qualified to give such high praise. I have been dining at La Masseria for more than 6 years and it is consistently outstanding!

Glad I booked this reservation a month in advance post-matinee on a Wednesday. Dining at 5 pm was the way to go, by 6 pm it was packed. The tables are very closely spaced. We were against the wall, but sitting right on top of two women next to us. I don't like to dine this way on Long Island but it was just one night. On a positive note, everything about our meal was perfect -- the bread, wine, calamari appetizer, pasta bolognese, veal chop with mushrooms, apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Service was attentive, all food came out quickly, was hot and delish. Wines by the glass were great too. Next time will try their other restaurant on 9th Ave & 57th Street.

Staff was very attentive. We received complimentary champagne for our anniversary. My husband’s linguine and clams meal was outstanding he says and my gnocchi was absolutely incredible. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
