Les chefs Daniel Bojorquez et Frank McClelland ont ouvert La Brasa au printemps 2014. La nourriture de La Brasa présente des influences culinaires ancrées dans les régions d'origine de beaucoup des résidents d'East Somerville, comme le Mexique, le Pérou ou le Moyen-Orient, pour n'en nommer que quelques-unes. We made a reservation at La Brasa for 1pm on May 5th wanting a great Mexican food experience on Cinco de Mayo. What we didn't know, but should have I suppose, is that this was a brunch menu which offered none of the specialities of the dinner menu. In fact, it was a pretty uninspired brunch menu at that with standards like avocado toast and pancakes; not even the fun Mexican options like Huevos Rancheros or Chilaquiles. Conflicted we thought about leaving but then the chef himself came to the table and offered us the dinner menu. YAY! Everything was delicious. True Mexican flavor uniquely prepared and presented. We will be back!

Really good food and great service. A little pricey but all restaurants seemed to have raise their prices. I would definitely go back here again. Wasn’t rushed at all either which I like.

We had their special date night menu, which was absolutely fantastic. It's a very nice building, and well decorated restaurant. The service we had was top notch. Was really fun watching the chef in the open kitchen. The meal itself started with a very generous salad portion to share, which was really quite good. We ordered salt cod croquettes in addition for my daughter, and she really liked them. So much that I only got to eat one, and it was great. The main dish was a bone in pork chop with rhubarb compote. The pork was cooked absolutely perfectly, and the flavor profile was very unique and delicious. We found this restaurant by chance scrolling open table and are so happy we did. It was an excellent meal!

The food was delicious and the server was very nice and accommodating. My only real complaint is that each dish was pretty expensive. For example, one empanada that was a normal size with a poached egg on top was $18. That was one of the more expensive items, but still

Wonderful! Our party of four tried a variety from the menu. Loved the Caesar salad, deviled eggs, wings and muscles. Steak was cooked perfectly. Chicken was an interesting curry sauce with a little heat. Fresh and flavorful guac. Fun drink menu. Our server, Alyssa, was great. Highly recommend!

Sunday the 14th. Had reservations, we were sat right away. The waitress was very nice and efficient. The drinks were great, enjoyed by all. Sat at the window area with views of the street. Would be nice if they cleaned the area outside, as there was a alot of debris on the sidewalk to stare at, not appealing. Ordered the muscles and oysters both fabulous. Ordered the fish, served with skin ontop, had some difficulty separating the meat of the fish from the skin. The fish tasted fresh but needed more flavor. Steamed vegetables were placed ontop of the skin My husband had the chicken wings which he liked and my frineds had the hamburger and the chicken dish which were also well liked. Ended with the chocolate cake with cream, liked by everyone. Will definately return but may not order the Fish dish as it was under flavor a bit.

Not at all what we expected. I would call it Mexican-themed but many dishes were not particularly Mexican. Many of the dishes were very good. Great service. It’s in a bad part of town and the music is heavy rock. If it were nearby, I would go back for casual fare. Not worth the trip.

Nachos, brussels sprouts, and flautas were all tasty. The salmon tostada was off putting. Drinks were okay. We came here for Christmas Eve dinner, so it was probably not an A+ night for staff either. Service was slow and lackadaisical. The decor and finishes were beautiful and warm. All in all, I probably wouldn’t return.

It was quiet and empty on a Wednesday, so hard to know how the noise would be if full, but the food was fabulous! We can’t wait to return for more! Service was fast and drinks were great.

Third time here. Brought friends to show them the great things of this restaurant only to experience the biggest disappointment. Appetizers were simply forgotten, the drink were meh, when asked about an interesting cocktail with mezcal the response was: we can make you a margarita with it??? Chocolate cake was our dessert and was so sad that we (4) all took a spoonful and left the rest. This place has some good dishes and days,’not last night. We wont be back

We were there early on a Monday so noise level was fantastic - can't say how it would be if full and busy. Food and service were fantastic - as always! Can't wait to return - maybe even just to sit at the bar and have just one of the appetizers - so many delicious things!

Of the many dining options available, I would not recommend giving this restaurant time or business. The primary reasons why: Service was unaware of the menu, prep, drinks, anything. Which required constant disappearances “to check” and long delays returning. The menu is unclear regarding descriptions while some clearly described dishes, like a sweet potato, arrived underwhelming in terms of taste, portion, and execution. Oysters arrived which shell fragments, over half of the dozen. Complete lack of shame with overpricing and upcharge on drinks. Ordering a martini results in 3 separate charges - the drink, the booze, and the olive juice- just as an example. $22 drinks like you’re at a hot trending establishment and it isn’t Tito’s vodka … shameless. The ambiance was quiet - it was Friday night and only three tables occupied - I can only begin to imagine why. Our party of six was given the bill, with a 20% tip automatically attached of course. With this absolutely dismal rip off - give some other establishment a shot.

This is a great place. The food is very well-prepared, the space is dramatic and lively, the staff is joyful. We were there on a Sunday night and it was quiet; I suspect it gets very noisy on Friday and Saturday and the acoustics could be unforgiving. We had an excellent meal and a very good time.

Easily our favorite place for miles. We’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and each time it is incredible. The drinks are amazing. The chicken is different with the seasons but perfect every time. Their steak is the best steak I’ve ever had (literally, ever). The cooks, management, hostess, bartenders, waitresses….everyone has been so nice every single time. Bonus points for the best music every time.

We went on a quiet Tuesday night. Server seemed nervous and new, but they did a good job. Nachos were good. Chicken, steak, and brussel sprouts were flavorful. We’d go back again.

The staff was very attentive. It was a quiet Wednesday night. Really enjoyed the colorful and creative meals, especially the small plates and apps - Street Corn, roasted oysters, chips and guac. - Yumm! The olive oil cake was delicious. Very nice atmosphere, clean bathrooms.

I worked a La Brasa a while back, and I always come back because they kill it every time, This time my wife and I brought my father out for a special dinner after we couldn’t see each other for eight years The chicken and the fried rice were out of this world, and the drinks were great as well There was a thunderstorm outside, but it didn’t matter because we felt at home 🙏 I’ll always come back to this place

Food was ok but agree with other reviewers, it was overpriced. Server was nice but inexperienced. For example, asked for 4 of the same drink and she suggested that we get a pitcher, which would be the same price as the 4 separate drinks. When pitcher arrived, we were one drink short. We asked about this and were told that if we wanted the extra drink, we had to pay for it (an extra $15 beyond what we would have paid originally for 4 drinks!) When we pointed this out, we were told that the pricing on the menu was wrong and that we had to pay full price for another drink (in essence, total of $75 for four drinks!) No substitutions are allowed on the menu, as everything is “pre-made” (per the server) and cannot be changed. Again, food was pretty good but the experience left us with a bad taste, given the lack of costumer service.

Amazing ambiance here. Good for dates or even group dinners. Was there as a group of 6 and had a lot of fun. This place seems like it's still new but it's soon going to get a lot more traffic. Great service, good, good music. Would 100% recommend!

The food was very over priced, and some of it wasn't very good. For example, the pork ribs had some BBQ sauce slapped on, and the sauce was excessive and didn't taste particularly good. The beef we ordered was cooked far more than we requested. They forgot to bring an item. The service overall was nice, and I liked the aesthetic.

Great vibe when you first arrive. Service was really good to start; engaging and making food suggestions; very helpful…. but then somehow they forgot about my entree! Not sure who’s fault it was but when my pork chop finally came out everyone else was done with their meal and the chop was completely charred. House margarita was only ‘meh’. Given this is quite pricey Mexican dining experience, I expected better.

La Brasa is rebounding after lockdown! The menu seems to have grown, and the service has really improved. The space is so lovely. Our favorite dishes were the ribs, fried rice and elote. Nice cocktails too! Worth a drive, and easy metered parking.

Cool vibe but would not recommend. Food is overpriced. We ordered nachos and only a few chips had toppings. Drinks were pretty good. Charged us for water. Left after appetizers because service was so slow.
