My birthday dinner at Kusakabe was truly unforgettable! From fulfilling a special request to sit in front of the chefs (a bucket list item of mine!) to the impeccable service and attention to detail, every moment felt like a dream. The chefs skillfully crafted each dish with the freshest ingredients, resulting in flavors that simply melted in my mouth. The special Valentine's menu added an extra touch of romance and made the evening even more memorable. I can't thank the staff enough for catering to my needs and creating such a wonderful experience. It was truly a birthday celebration to remember!

Good food and nice experience. They tell you what each dish is when they serve you but not the source of it. There’s no story to the meal and no interaction unless you ask questions. A few dishes were delicious with beautiful presentation yet others pieces of sushi were so-so (chewy fish). Dessert was meh. You get a lot of food for the price.

I’ve been here multiple times but the last time was one of the best! We booked it a bit last minute and was seated at the bar which I highly recommend. Our sushi chef was amazing and attentive!! He made our experience a whole lot better this time around!! The food was great, definitely worth a try. I enjoyed the company of our chef more than our omakase lol

The food, service, and ambiance was impeccible. I had the petite omikase (which is plenty of food - I don't know how anyone consumes the regular) with sake pairing. Absolutely stunning, sweet, and tender fish. My compliments to everyone who worked together as a team. I will definitely be going back.

The restaurant and food is great! The beverage pairing was also wonderful. However, with so much sushi (12 different kinds) I couldn't really understand the names and have no idea what I ate for much of the dinner and didn't really learna much. Would be great to have a menu or something that describes what is being served (that is written). Overall, a great experience!

I had the most incredible dining experience at Kusakabe! The sushi omakase was an absolute masterpiece. Each piece of sushi was a work of art, and the flavors were exquisite. The chef’s skill and precision were truly remarkable. The service was top-notch, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was intimate and relaxing, perfect for a special occasion. Kusakabe is a gem in San Francisco, and I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable culinary journey.

A more delicate, lighter but balanced Kyoto style omasake sushi. We love them all, especially the otsumami (9 kind of appetizers).

Food and service were great. However, we were very surprised that we were limited to fixed price menus, both of which were extremely expensive. There was no indication of this on Open Table, and we would have picked a much less expensive restaurant had we known this was the case. We felt a bit duped.

Good experience and would definitely recommend to any first-timers. Sushi with complimentary dishes. There were great standouts, but I feel like some items were left wanting for the price point.

As to Mushimono, ginger olive oil seems too much since already so many flavors there. Overall, taste/flavoring level is stronger than simple flavor materials. I know current audience needs stronger flavor, but I wish to remain each special weak flavor of sea foods without strong flavoring.

Great restaurant with high quality food. It’s comparable to the quality of food one would find in a restaurant in Japan. This is a different experience and price point than what you find in the typical U.S. sushi restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you’ve never had great sushi in Japan.

The best sushi in San Francisco with Kyoto style Omakase inspired by Kaiseki cuisine. The nigiri is garnished with flavor enhancers like shaved truffle or egg yolk and the fish are perfectly aged to bring out peak flavor and texture.

Great food! Wonderful sushi chefs explaining what is served! Good selection of interesting sake, wine, etc. But bait & switch on the menu. There is only one option: full omakase. KusaKabe needs to be more clear when $ and calories are involved. 5 star is possible if this is fixed.
