Le Krebs est un restaurant historique fondé en 1899 par Fred et Cora Krebs. There should be a sidewalk or something for guests to walk from the too small parking lot. Brunch was absolutely wonderful, except the waiter should’ve ask permission to cut the bone from my leftover pork chop. He said they didn’t have boxes big enough for the long bone. Idea! Wrap the chop in foil or get bigger boxes! Please tell me where I can buy pork chops like the one I had May 13. Thanks

Yesterday, we arrived a half hour prior to our reservation and enjoyed delicious cocktails (I highly recommend the Rosa Fresca) in the bar area while we waited for our table. About 10 minutes after our reservation time, we were approached by a young woman who informed us that our table was ready. I didn’t mind they were behind because we were enjoying ourselves and they were busy (SU commencement & Mother’s Day weekend). What I did mind was that she was very speedy getting us to our table. I didn’t want to lose sight of her, so I awkwardly hurried after while trying to keep my husband and mother-in-law (both of whom were paces behind) also in sight so they knew where to go. I didn’t appreciate that she didn’t wait to guide us to our table as a group. After getting to our table, it took 20 minutes to be greeted by our waitress (always very pleasant, she’s usually our waitress when we go for brunch). Again, I understand they were busy, but a greeting only takes a minute. Plus, considering the size of our party, it would have taken an additional minute to take our drink orders. Our first course consisted of the asparagus soup, bison tartare, and wedge Caesar. The asparagus soup wasn’t served hot, but at room temperature. The style and presentation of the bison tartar was different than I’ve had it previously (less palatable) and the wedge Caesar was just okay. For our main course, my husband ordered the center cut tenderloin with the signature herb butter “sauce” (a ramekin filled with whipped room temperature butter with herbs), and my mother-in-law and I both ordered the black sea bass. Although the tenderloin was incredibly tender and cooked to his liking, it wasn’t the slightest bit warm, but at room temperature. Both sea bass entrees were okay, though pretty thin, overly salty, and served at room temperature. We concluded our dinner with passion fruit tarts that were delightful.

Great food, service, and ambience. We loved everything about this meal! We had the fried pickled green beans, burger, daily catch, asparagus, and pomme purée. And the bread is divine! A great way to celebrate my fiancé, the MBA grad! We’ll be back if we’re ever back in Skineateles.

As always, a pleasure and a treat. The daily crepe (pineapple and cream) was mouth-watering, the tiny pastries (croissants and madeleines) were perfection, and the mimosas mixed just right. Entrees were savory, well seasoned, packed with flavor. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, too, and the table settings are always lovely. We will continue to be regulars visitors :)

We had a very nice relaxing evening. Promptly seated, but not rushed. Servers were so, so sweet. Food was fabulous. I even had dessert. We'll definitely go there again... and again...

First time visit at Skaneateles Lake and booked Krebs 1899 for my Husband`s Birthday dinner. Great location, impeccable service and exquisite food! Jasmine was our server and took care of all the details necessary for a memorable evening out. Would definitely return and recommend this 5***** restaurant.

We drove an hour to have a birthday brunch at Krebs. Made a big point of telling the person who seated us. The waiter never asked if we were celebrating anything and he did nothing to acknowledge our daughter's birthday. He was (Marshall) pretty uninspired/not friendly or engaging over all. But we were pretty disappointed that the birthday had no fanfare whatsoever.

Exceptional from start to finish. Dishes were inventive but not overly fussy, even the cocktails. A lot of attention went into every aspect of the dish. For instance, we were allowed to split a bowl of the soup d'jour, roasted cauliflower and red pepper. Perfectly seasoned, with a few shavings of dried sunchoke on top but also a mirepoix on the bottom that was perfectly cooked--not too soft, not to hard, giving a nice texture to the soup. All the dishes were like this. The blue crab appetizer came with a generous portion of crab meat, including large chunks not just shreds, but what made it really stand out was the very light sauce of tomato water, high quality olive oil, and finely minced chili pepper. Another appetizer of bison tartare was served with a delightfully thin slice of toasted bread, almost cracker like (but not starchy like a cracker) to scoop the tartare, which was seasoned with grated horseradish to give it some bite. In fact, all the dishes had a little interesting bite or twist of seasoning -- cinnamon in the duck breast main course comes to mind -- that raised all of them above the mundane 'fine dining' offerings you find in places that cater to less adventerous palates. Yet it was well balanced and not muddy. The chef understands how flavors and textures work together. The ambience is elegant but not starched and very comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. Price was less than what I would expect from such a fine meal.

Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table on Easter Sunday. Excellent bartender who knew how to make drinks! Staff were very busy in the dining room so not the usual attentive service, but that's to be expected when you dine out on a holiday.

Excellent food and staff. The general manager came over to the table and helped me pick out a delicious wine. He gave us the history of the inn. We felt like regulars on our 1st visit.

Great spot! Took my wife and two kids (19 and 20) and we had a great meal. Apps, meal and dessert were all A+. Great options, great service and a cool vibe to the place. I saw the 1899 sign outside and expected some thing dull and oldschool, but was impressed by the class of the whole experience.

We enjoyed a delectable brunch and exquisite service. The ambience is tasteful, comfortable, and dignified. The wait staff is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Learning that the proprietor is a generous philanthropist is another good reason to dine at Krebs.

Jessie took great care of us making sure we were comfortable and answered our questions well. service was well executed making us relaxed and enjoyed the experience. Food was delicious and served hot. Very nice experience.

We really enjoyed our cocktail at the bar. Super friendly bartenders. Enjoyed a couple of delicious bourbon drinks. Dinner was delicious. We had the salmon and the special meatloaf of the night. Both were excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Next time I’m going to ask to be seated in the front room with all the windows.
