Slow. Lots of Waiting. We’ve been twice. Same both times. Lots of people work there but not as a team. Management watched us sitting there with no food or drinks and only came over after we had finally received dinner and drinks. We had half of the food for the 4 of us and waited 10 mins for the other two meals to come out. Both sushi. Food was good. We won’t be back.

Kona Grill is a nice place, but it seems to be more hype than quality. My Ribeye steak that the server said was amazing, was tough and gristly. The surf part of the surf and turf was a sauce on top of my steak. I was disappointed. The quality was more of what you would expect in a tourist destination where they are not counting on you returning. The ambience is nice and it’s partial open air which makes it feel like a restaurant in Hawaii. I probably won’t return. The parking at Avalon is a nightmare too.

Wonderful location - friendly server. The pricing is just outrageous for what you get. $21 for a dry flavorless roll, sugary cocktails. I won’t name drop but there is a very highly regarded sushi establishment just a few doors down where your money will be better spent on high quality thoughtful sushi. 😉 This particular night we decided we were over this sad attempt at sushi, closed our tab, and walked over to Marlows because it was late at that point and decided this was the best decision we made all day. Kona - narrow down the menu - either lower your prices or raise your food quality - and all other things remaining the same - we’ll be happy to give it another shot someday.

The server was a little inexperienced and rude. When does a waiter correct a customer on how to say “salmon”? It’s Kona Grill, not an exclusive 5 star restaurant. Regardless, it’s tacky.

Water glass ran dry twice. Kitchen was terrible They tried to bring one of our entrees out twice before we ever received our appetizer. Appetizer order was put in well before we placed our meal order. Brought appetizer out with both entrees at the same time. Waiter barely around. Food was tasty but overpriced. This place seemed understaffed and disorganized.

The food was ok, but not great. The burger and fries were good, the tomato soup was ok, the Pad Thai was not good enough to order again. Based upon the quality of the food it was overpriced.

We went to Kona Grill to celebrate my Mom’s birthday tonight and had a fabulous time. Our server was Grace, who was super sweet and personable and knowledgeable about the menu. We all enjoyed our food and drinks and over all had a great time. The hosts were also very sweet and helpful.

Spencer was an excellent server/host. However, the food was okay. The Australian Wagyu was bad; sadly, it was the most expensive dish on the menu. The standard fare was good (burgers, ribs etc). The drinks were great. I'm not excited about repeating at this venue. The location bias makes it so that they might not take this feedback since there's plenty of foot traffic in that area, given that it's in the Avalon, which is quite popular. I should have used the Star Rating of 3.7 and avoided this place.

We went for Easter brunch and it was fantastic! I had the lobster Eggs Benedict, so yummy! Our waiter was Reid and he was the best! So personable and attentive. I highly recommend Kona Grill!

I had the chopped salad with chicken—it didn't have bacon or cheese (both listed as ingredients on the menu). The bowl was too small for the amount of salad, making it hard to eat. Lettuce kept falling out of the bowl. Finally, some back ingredients because I was sick after eating it.

We were excited to go to Kona Grill, receiving many recommendations. 4 of us arrived for our reservation, we were taken to a dirty table with only 3 chairs. It took a good 3 minutes to get a fourth chair. After stopping a few people and being told someone would be right over- that never happened so we cleaned the table and chairs ourselves, using napkins from another table. We waited 43 minutes before anyone came to even ask if we wanted water. I ordered the fire dragon roll- it was supposed to be flaming table side- it wasn’t- when the server never showed up- I just ate it. Second Meal- ribs- were horrible- we had everyone at the table try everyone disliked. Those went uneaten. The lobster mac n cheese was the best thing ordered at our table. The server made 2 appearances at our table- one to take our order- one to give the check. We paid $200 for 4 and left very disappointed. The music was so loud the server kept asking over and over what we were ordering saying sorry the music is so loud I can’t hear what you all are ordering. We also had food brought to our table that was not our order. Overall a horrible experience.

They brought out our Entree before the appetizers and when we raised the concern, it still took a while to get them. The manager was very nice and apologized, offered to cover the cost of the apps. We appreciated that. But the flow of the meal was messed up.

Pros: Good tasting and we'll presented appetizers Long happy hour Tasty drinks. Food quickly prepared. Cons I had to go seek a server on my own. Took us over 35 minutes to be greeted after being sat outside on a high top. Noticed many other tables sat after us and got served before we were even greeted. I would suggest hosts work to notify servers when a table is sat.

A group of gals taking advantage of an absolutely beautiful warm day! We mostly had bar bites and cocktails. It's a great way to just hang out eat, drink and enjoy a great day. Nice selection of bar bites and cocktails. Nice servers, attentive.

We were a little disappointed overall with our experience. The server station was right next to our table, which wasn’t a big deal. But the constant pushing and squeezing by our chairs was a little much. We were thirsty most of the meal, my daughter found a hair in her drink, and honestly, for what we paid for our meal, we shouldn’t left full and happy. The food was mediocre at best. Just disappointed in what should’ve been a really nice higher end meal in an upscale.

We were excited to try Kona, but sadly it did not live up to our expectations. The ambiance was nice enough, but the service was very slow (heck, we ordered sushi… it took an hour to get food that doesn’t even need to be cooked?). It seemed our waiter forgot us at times, but I think he was just embarrassed the food took so long. Their sushi is a B- at best. We will not return.

Went in said outside but was given a table inside. Sat down drinks took too long wait staff took too long to get to our table to get to drink order and we ordered two appetizers that took over 20 minutes to get to our tape.. when the food arrived did not taste well at all.

The noise level was a little high, hard to have a conversation. Food taste & portions were very good! We had a piece of the carrot cake & it was delicious! I had an old fashioned & it was just ok. Service was pretty good except the confusion on the bill (I was given the electronic bill for another table), but we got it worked out. Overall I would rate the experience pretty good.

The furniture is so old. The restaurant is dirty & so was the restroom. My food was not even edible. So sad because this used to be a nice restaurant to enjoy, but it has gone downhill. Such a great location. Hopefully, Kona will put some money back into the place to get it & the food back up to standard.

J-O-K-E . What a joke. Went in at 8pm waiting in a line, people complaining. Host are arguing with the person in front of me. Finally my turn ask for a table they say it's going to be 1 HOUR 30 MINUTES. I asked for outside which is literally empty, apparently it's still the same. Decided to wait it out and explore around Avalon in meantime. Shortly after i get a text tables ready. Walk in the host obviously recognized me since i was just there. But their excuse as to why i got the text was cause they did not who all was there out of the many people they had waiting so they decided to text all and seat whoever showed up... what a way to honor your reservations. But wait it gets worse. The hostess is now showing me those many reservations and i noticed that i am among that list. Felt this was odd so i asked, her response in a snarky tone "oh yea we don't have a waitlist your just added in as a reservation" the other hostess pitched in to to explain that they "aren't allowed too use a waitlist because of corporate their just allowed to make reservations" Clearly making a reservation means absolutely nothing. The worst part? There are tables out and inside available PLENTY of them. Think the hostess just wanted to have an attitude and ego of "you'll get to eat your dinner when I decide" I then asked to speak with a manager, miraculously that outside table i wanted is now available, but the manager isn't. We're not spending our hard earned money here!!! NO WAY! We just left went to Marlows across the street, where i write this review at a table they sat us at 20 minutes later.

2/26 UPDATE - emailed the management team detailing my horrible experience and await their reply . I’ll update this again once they do I’ve also found that they delete their bad reviews… their other similar bad experiences like mine in reviews that are deleted now…..very suspicious who want to eat at a restaurant that won’t allow honesty Like seriously dude ?

It was a good 15 mins before we were greeted. Several servers and managers walked by us without acknowledging no one had been with us yet. We even saw our server try to get the order in for the table beside us before greeting us, and they weren’t even ready. The server did not write anything down, brought a Peroni instead of a Pellegrino for my partner and sat in down in front of him- he was surprised.. A. We don’t drink, and B. If we did, he DEFINITELY needed to be IDed (we are in our late 20s/ early 30s) He politely let her know that wasn’t what he ordered and she walked off without a word and came back with Saratoga with an empty water glass and an attitude. We are nice people, we both have worked in the service industry for 10+ years. We were ignored after that. Our server never offered a refill on our soda, and it was needed when the food was delivered. I can’t in good conscience leave less than a 20% tip, so we did, but it was not earned. Please do better, Kona Grill.

Food was amazing. They where short on server staff but they let us know that upfront and they did not over crowd the place. Staff was amazing and very helpful. Wonderful experience
