Kokkari (prononcé «Ko-Kar-ee\") est un petit village de pêcheurs situé sur l'île de Samos dans la mer Égée. Son nom est dérivé des petits oignons qui un temps furent cultivés dans les champs voisins. Son sol fertile et le climat méditerranéen offre une abondance de produits frais, ainsi que des fruits de mer et du gibier exceptionnels. La légende raconte que Kokkari est le site où Orion, un puissant chasseur et un jeune homme gigantesque d'une grande beauté, est tombé en amour avec la fille du roi de Chios. Pour son amour pour elle, Orion a créé l'île pour le gibier sauvage et les fruits de mer afin de préparer des banquets élaborés pour céléber leur amour. We had a wonderful time. Food was yummilicious! Service by Marco was first class! He offered wonderful recommendations, was attentive, friendly and discreet. And went above and beyond…. He offered me reading glasses when he noticed me squinting at the menu. He came running out when we forgot our takeaway bag. It was just a totally brilliant night. We WILL be back!

My go to place when I’m in SF. Saganaki cheese is always a favorite. Go with a friend so you can try many dishes. Everything is a great choice. Wood roasted fish or meat is a favorite! The bartender is awesome and had great recommendations!

We enjoyed a fabulous meal last Saturday at Kokkari! Our table’s ambiance was perfect, with evening light streaming through the window. And we enjoyed a wide array of appetizers, including the lamb riblets, lamb meatballs, special citrus salad, fresh peas with feta & mint, fried smelts, and a refreshing ouzo sorbet! Everything was delicious, and the service excellent!

This was my first time at Kokkari Estiatorio, but hopefully not my last. The food was absolutely outstanding - there was a special citrus salad appetizer on the menu that was delightful, as was any of the dips that we ordered. For mains, we got a grilled sea bass, a lamb shank, and a ribeye - all cooked to absolute perfection. I can't believe we even had room for desert, but we had to try the donuts, baklava, and some sponge-like cake that was one of the best things I've ever had. The service was fantastic, and the restaurant was still lively at 11pm on a Wednesday night. It felt great to be around so many people who were clearly enjoying their time at Kokkari.

Perfect for a date night. The food and wine menu was good. They had a full bar, so any of the other drinks are possible. The servers were soft spoken and expert and made us feel special.

San Francisco at its best. Excellent, high quality Greek/Mediterranean food prepared traditionally with little to no fuss. Ambience is warm and inviting with a fireplace in the main dining area, high backed comfortable chairs, and low lighting to set the mood. The restaurant has been open for 20+ years and the reasons why are clear once you've had an experience there. Enjoy!

Waiter was a little “off” Took a long time to attend to us, wrong appetizers delivered to table. Came to table twice and repeated entree choices as tho he didn’t remember he had already told us. Entree portion small for price paid.

We had the saganaki, domathes, lamb kabob and mousaka. The saganaki was flavorful but the brandy, flame and opa were missing. Was also hoping it woild be served with pita but received bread instead. Everything else was great. The lamb was very tender. Price were a little high for the size of the plate but it is San Francisco.

Table was a little awkward, having arm chairs back to back is a little hard to manage. Appetizers were small but very good; I ordered the duck special and it was good but it was pieces of whole chopped up duck, bones and all, which made for a lot of work eating. Service was very good.
