Had a great experience at Javan. Missed it when it was closed for a period of time. The current management is very friendly and attentive. The food was perfect. Would definitely be back at every opportunity. This was great for a family gathering and celebration of a special event.

great food. 1st time since 30 years ago. then they had a great muhamara, but no longer. kabobs were moist, soft and deliciously marinated.

Really enjoyed the food. It was a bit noisy and the wait staff was very kind but seemed to disappear at times and we needed to ask for to go boxes, the check, etc

I went here with my girlfriend on a date. What makes review for Javan difficult was the hit and miss nature of both food and service. Kabob, vegetable, and tomato stews were very good. But the yogurt dip and cheese appetizers were not. The cheese was rather tasteless and yogurt tasted stale. The service was the low point. One of our appetizers was never delivered to the table (they took it off the bill), no one really checked on us during our dinner to make sure things were ok (they were not), and staple items such as bread was missing until we got wait staff's attention and specifically ask about 10 min after the appetizers were delivered. The restaurant was not busy at all with only 5-6 tables with clients. I think this might be a good place for regulars (the person who was sitting behind us was getting exceptional service) but not for those on the exploration path.

Food was uninspired. Vegetarian options virtually nonexistent. With so many better Persian options on the west side, it's unclear why anyone would choose Javan

Parking is tough. You habe to find it on the street. Busy and loud on a Saturday. Server was pleasant. Food came out in a timely manner.

The staff was very polite and accommodating and the ambiance was quiet and relaxing. It was our first time trying Persian food at a restaurant and we really enjoyed it! The Ash Joe was very good, and also the Cornish hen chicken kebab. The somewhat exotic flavors were both delicious and refreshing. I will definitely eat there again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking to give Persian cuisine a try.

Food was very good, service also very good. It was quiet when we arrived (early - 5:30PM for dinner), but noise level gradually increased until it became a problem. We were forced to leave earlier than we would have liked, because it became difficult to hear one another.

Wonderful attentive, friendly and informative service. Top notch. Food portions sizes are large and food is wonderful. So flavorfull. Had the rack of lamb and it was tender and delish. House ice cream with subtle rose flavor is refreshing and wonderful. LA experienced a power outage while we were there and they processed our payment via ipad and a clear handwritten check. Great restaurant.

Celebrating my husbands acceptance into American Film Institute. He is from Iran and we had the most amazing experience! I cook almost all of the Persian dishes for him and the food did not disappoint! Great service and value! We will be back!

I have always liked Javan, and since we often eat the same kind of food in the Westwood area, we all decided that Javan is the best. The food was prepared and served well, and had a wonderful blend of flavors and ingredients, but was also filling. I loved the homemade lemonade, which was refreshing, and showed the little personal touches which place Javan as a cut above other similar restaurants. I'd recommend this restaurant and return to this restaurant often.

Delicious meal on Nowruz. Got several different dishes and shared them and surprisingly with all the red meat we ordered the juicy chicken was all of our favorites! One of my favorite Persian restaurants in Westwood/santa monica! We will be back.

I was so looking forward to trying Javan after driving past it for many years. Some of my Persian friends had recommended it. the portions, especially the rice, were very generous. The cherry rice and raisin/lentil rice were particularly delicious, but you have to be a fan of dill, and i mean LOTS of dill, to like the herbed rice, which i didnt. I was disappointed that the only fish dish on the menu was grilled on skewers, since many of my friends make a salmon or other fish stuffed with herbs, that is moist and fantastic. As with most restaurants, the skewered dishes were dry, both the fish and the chicken. i told the very nice waiter ahead of time that i was concerned that it would be dry, and alas it was. There was a very nice $11 chardonnay on the menu. So in the end, it will be a long time before i come back. there are just too many wonderful restaurants in l.a. that know how to grill fish and chicken. i think that in large part this restaurant has a steady clientele of regulars and others looking for a reasonably priced dinner. But they could challenge themselves very easily and have a GREAT restaurant.

Our party of 5 was very satisfied. The food was delicious, the beef kabobs were very tender, and the service was excellent. We especially enjoyed the Fesenjan entree, and the Bamieh dessert.

Javan was good but not one of the best Persian restaurants in LA. There's a large Persian community and we tend to go to a Persian restaurant each time we're in the area. Javan seemed more like an American version of a Persian restaurant. There are 2 rooms in the restaurant and no one in our room was Perisian/Iranian.

Persian hospitality is legendary and the caring service in this restaurant lives up to one's expectations. The decor is restrained, the sound level blessedly low with no intrusive background music. The menu includes many Persian standards and offers extraordinarily good value, particularly since most starters and main courses are large enough to be shared. Warm, freshly made dolmas, braised lamb shank and chicken faisenjan are standouts. The traditional appetizer of raw sweet onion and mint with flatbread was quickly polished off. Short, reasonably priced wine list.

Tried salmon kebab for first time. Very tasty. This is our go-to Persian place. No need to go to Westwood. Ambience is elegant yet comfortable. Team service outstanding.
