The service was great, the appetizers were OK. I ordered the filet mignon and it was covered in a fig jam which ruined the steak.

Wish we had a seat in the outside section to see the beach better, but our table was nice. We were there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, but wanted a relaxed environment with good food. We were happy with the overall experience.

It was very nice. Our waiter could not have been more accommodating. The food was good but a bit skimpy on the salmon.

My husband and I always enjoy Jake’s (for over 40 yrs) whether Brunch or our most recent oceanfront lunch or dinner dining everything about the restaurants charm, ambiance, service and delicious menu items keep us coming back. We have enjoyed fine dining at related (?)restaurants in Lake Tahoe/Jakes as well as Dukes in Malibu & Kimos on Maui. Thank you Jake’s for many great memories. The Summers

Had a delicious dinner. We all selected fish entrees. Food came quickly and ingredients were fresh and healthy. Also enjoyed Hulu pie for dessert. Prices are still reasonable for quality. Reliable long time favorite restaurant.

We always enjoy meals at Jake’s. We love the atmosphere, the food and the value we get whenever we dine at Jake’s. Our person helping us out is kind, knowledgeable, attentive. Mahi Mahi Roasted Garlic offering terrific, as well as the Filets of beef. No one leaves hungry when finishing off with the classic mud pie.

Went on Mothers Day and even though it was busy still got the table we wanted and sat us on time. My mom got the seafood chowder and the salmon, she loved both. Said the salmon was cooked perfectly. She also loved the Guava daiquiri. I ordered a Caesar salad and the shrimp and sirloin steak. Salad and shrimp were great, I probably wouldn’t order the steak again. We asked for bread and realized when we got the bill they charged $4 for the bread. Thought that was unnecessary when you’re paying a lot for the dinner already.

Very good food coupled with amazing views. The service was also phenomenal, the only issue was that the food was brought out very quickly which made the dinner go by very quickly.

Ambience and service were great, especially since the place was very busy. The crab cake appetizer was excellent. The salmon and filet mignon were just average and we would order something different next time. The place was so busy that we couldn’t valet our car (they were out of spaces) so we had to pay $22 to park in a lot across the street. We had a 5:15 reservation and were out of the restaurant by 6:20, which was fast service, again, given how busy they were.

Service was incredible, our waiter had us in stitches all evening. Food was great too. The booth was a bit small for 4 people, otherwise it was an amazing experience.

Lovvved the food, outstanding service and location. But would think twice, even 3 times about returning due to EXTREMELY loud environment. Could barely hear my wife from across the table.

Fantastic ocean front dining experience and especially for our 30th wedding anniversary celebration! From the time the two young ladies greeted us upon arriving to the bar staff while we waited for our table to our waiter (employee of the year in 2023) the service was amazing. The food was outstanding and we never had to ask for anything as they staff constantly clearing our drinks and plates and checking on you. A very nice complimentary desert was also offered for our anniversary.

Using Open Table, we booked a window seat for celebrating multiple birthdays. Our table was ready when we arrived, we were personally welcomed and as requested, our table was at the window with a fantastic Pacific Ocean view, topped off with a birthday greeting. Service, food and ambiance was outstanding. Serving Sorbet desert with candles to the table on the house for our birthdays was a nice touch.

Overall amazing experience! Great views and food to match. I had the fish tacos, which they allowed me to modify and have grilled, which was nice. Very flavorful and perfect portion size. Family friendly as well!

Disappointing! My family and I are frequent visitors to Jakes Del Mar but hadn't been for 6-9 months recently. We were all really looking forward to it since it had been so long as we knew how good the quality of everything was before. Unfortunately, on this situation I was very disappointed, especially with the quality of the food. My son and I ordered the filet Mignon (Medium rare) and it was cooked very nicely as we requested, however, it was lacking any flavor and juices.... not sure that they did but it was a little tasteless, thank god for the sauce or I would have sent it back. Also the piece of au Gratin potato I got was a complete joke - less than a 2 bite square literally. Some asparagus also which was good but for $49 just for that entree it should have been at least decent or even amazing like usual.... I don't mind paying extra for the view and ambience there but as a long time visitor and local resident I was aware the prices may have increased but for what I got for teh value I will likely not be going back anytime soon. It cost $237 for my 3 kids and I before tip!! We had 1 starter, a shared salad, 1 beer, 3 sodas, 2 filet mignons, 1 seafood bowl and 1 burger, and Hula pie for dessert. Jakes - you have to do better please..... Next time I am going next door to Poseidon to try how they are these days.

Pancakes were horrible and by the time they brought the whip cream syrup etc they were cold. The waiter was nice but disappeared to get this plus other sauces for meals and came back over 10 minutes later and half of us were done. The manager did comp us the pancakes we sent back and a cup of coffee and mimosa but we won’t be back. Buy a sandwich up on the main drag and sit on a bench to get the ocean view.

First time having brunch at Jake’s. We ordered the pancakes as an appetizer- fantastic idea. The Eggs Benedict was delicious!

Great service. Great food. Ceviche was outstanding. Gave lots of chips with it. Halibut was also outstanding. Hula pie is amazing !

We had a reservation on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 5:30 for three people. It was busy. We were promptly seated. We waited at least 10 minutes for our server to arrive. She apologized that things were crazy. We ordered appetizers and a bottle of wine. The appetizers were great. The wine didn’t arrive until after we finished our appetizers. When we did see our waitress she continued to apologize. We ordered scallops and two orders of the halibut. Our food finally arrived around 7:45 and it was barely lukewarm. We sent it back.. they brought us new food. The scallops were wonderful, but the halibut was so dry it was inedible. The halibut was replaced with two orders of scallops. All warm and delicious. Our waitress never followed up to see how our food had turned out. By the time we were ready for desert the place was clearing out. Our absentee waitress finally showed up with a desert menu…then went MIA. By the time she came back we had lost our enthusiasm for desert and just wanted to leave the bad experience behind. We split the bill and our waitress had to re-do the bill a couple of times before she got it right. With all of the delightful food options in Del Mar…I would encourage anyone to think twice about dining at Jake’s.
