Jacques Brasserie is a relaxing sanctuary deep in the heart of the Upper East Side. Low key and inviting, this two-room restaurant and bar serves classic French dishes amongst dark wooden walls adorned with vintage poster advertisements and bohemian scenes a la Toulouse-Lautrec.

Open seven days a week, Jacques Brasserie serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Our chef creates everything in house, producing classic dishes such as French Onion Soup, Escargot, Steak Frites, Poulet Roti, Salade Nicoise and our most popular dish, Moules Frites.

One of those places where you can do the same or better at home but it's good to get out. You can't beat the ambience so it's good for the whole experience. My server was great! It seems like an old restaurant and pretty quaint. It's like a place to go if you live in the neighborhood. It's a nice place but I don't know what would particularly draw me back.

The food was exceptional! Our waiter, Fernando was very attentive and made sure our needs were met. The decor is charming- feels like a Parisian Brasserie……. Will definitely return on my nesit to New York!

This is the second time in the month we have had dinner at the restaurant. The first time it was good but I will say this time it was even better. The escargot was not great - seemed to maybe be canned . All other dishes were very good. My husband had the risotto with veal which was terrific . I had the Bronzino which was also great / minor change out of the brussel sprouts to mash potatoes . The other two dishes were the duck and the hanger steak which were very good. Crème Brûlée was good too. Prices are a bit steep so that's the main negative for the restaurant when you compare it to pricing at Quatorze or D'Orsay restaurants.

this is our first time at the restaurant and many many many years. The food was very very good. Everyone's dishes were everyone's liking the noise level is a little high. We sat in the front by the bar. There was music playing, and a party in the other room, so it made conversation a little tricky, I would definitely return. I did read some of the other reviews about the arm, lack of good service that we did not find at all we had several servers, and they were very attentive.

Really good food, generous portions, nice typical brasserie ambience, attentive service, excellent value. We had escargots, onion soup, hanger steak and sorbet & gelato. Everything fresh, served piping hot and to our order. We look forward to coming back.

Our first return visit after a number of years. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious. Our choices of Pate, Tuna Nicoise, Hanger Steak and Apple Tart were perfect. Service was excellent and the atmosphere delightful. It will not take long to make a return visit.

Usually very good, I’ve been coming here for years. They booked a party and the servers completely neglected out table. Potions were small, had to ask for cutlery twice. Waiters we unapologetic and borderline arrogant. Save your money

It is always a treat to eat at Jacques restaurant. Lunch or dinner, the food is always delicious, the ambience charming, and the price is right. Just ate there last night on a restaurant week special and had the most delicious lentil soup, salmon, with ratatouille, and a dessert, combining chocolate and raspberry sorbet for $60, prix fixe. Heaven! I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly.

Brasserie Jacques has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. We had taken a break for about a year after the superb maître d' had departed. However, last night after seeing 'Ferrari' we found that Kevin had assumed the maître d' position.We immediately realized that the Brasserie would again be one of our 2-3 most frequented places to dine. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and eager to please. The front seating area is cozy and quiet. The menu has variety and many French specialities. Bravo!!

Have been to Jacques a few times, and it is consistently a real treat. Generous portions, excellent preparation and top notch service. I had the steak tartar which was a great choice, and my girlfriend had the mussels which were very tasty and plentiful. Great for dates. Can be a little noisy because it usually has a full house, but that adds to the cool buzz of the place. Yet, it was still an intimate dining experience. Two thumbs up.

The Foie Gras terrine was the best of the evening. It was accompanied by warm Sancerre. The salad was ok. My pork chop was swimming in sauce but the sauce was the only tasty thing. The chop was tasteless. My wife had Duck confit which was dry and luke warm. The dessert was good. Way over priced for what it is. There were 4 of us and none of us would go back.

My companion ordered salmon, which he said was good; it was listed on the menu with lentils, but came with ratatouilles. Roasted half chicken was overly dry; spinach was overcooked, maybe prepared in advance? Wine selection is adequate. Good ambiance. Service felt a bit rushed, though it was New Year's eve early evening. ,

Fun, welcoming, traditional bistro food with a flare and great service. I have been here several times and will continue to dine here. Since our last visit included a guest who is wheelchair bound, I was so happy that the restaurant is on one level and has a ramp to enter. What I neglected to check out is whether the bathroom could accomodate her needs. The bathroom is extemely tight and while we were able to lift and assist her, it was very difficult. I just write this for other patrons who have such issues. This is a delightful restaurant and well priced.

An excellent choice on the upper east side, especially if visiting the Met art museum. It's a cozy, traditional French bistro in terms of atmosphere, comfortable and, at least when we dined, reasonably quiet so you could actually have a conversation. And they don't rush you out. The wait staff is excellent, friendly and helpful, and the food was very good. Two of us had the boeuf bourguignon, one had sliced steak and one had branzino and all enjoyed their meals. And the prices were excellent, especially now, when so many places have raised theirs. We will definitely return.
