Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

    On Sunday 16th June, gather family and enjoy a paired back lunch or dinner experience comprising fresh shellfish and seafood dishes. With a menu brimming with much loved classics, like Sheekey’s Fish Pie and Roasted Shellfish Platters, among specials such as Miso Glazed Salmon and Sea Bream Ceviche, settle into an indulgent feast, alongside a bottle of our finest Champagne while talented musicians serenade you with live jazz melodies from 1-4pm.

    Have been coming to J Sheekey for years. Food was ok but has become distinctly more average over time. The Devon cock crab is sadly no longer on the menu (only dressed crab), starters such as prawns and scallops were fine. Skate wing good but over-trimmed. Perhaps what bothered me more is that the reception was factory-esque and impersonal with colleagues shouting table numbers at each other to indicate where you would be put. Feels like this restaurant is more concerned with with visiting theatre-goers whose priority is to get out on time versus returning locals who want to enjoy some of the best seafood in London that used to be on offer here. Needless to say the price point has not been adjusted to reflect what J Sheekey now delivers.

    Lovely food, excellent service and despite an error in one of the starters everything was just as expected, really worth the money

    Very nice place and very good food. They are clearly a theater driven restaurant and are constantly at your table checking to see if you are finished. It has a rushed feeling. Other theater restaurants have done better mastering the theater crowd by efficiently working you through dinner but not rushing you.
