Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

Everything is extremely well done: from greeting on arrival, to handing you your coat and briefcase when you leave. Impeccable service. A nice buzzy and fun place, but not too loud. The food is all delicious. Today, I can say that the gazpacho with crab, fish (haddock) and chips and delice ot Black Forest gateau-were all just perfect.

I have been to JSheeky several times and the food and service were usually excellent. Last night, the food was great but the service was not. The grumpy waiter was totally inattentive— the side dishes and sauces lacked serving cutlery, we had to wait for the wine after the food was served and it (a Sancerre) was not sufficiently chilled.

We had a table booked at 3.30 pm and I think it was unfortunate that we were there during a change of shift. We were left for long periods with no service. My friends finished their meal before I received my main course - the J Sheekey and I had to get up from the table walk from the terrace to the front desk to ask where my main course was, as for Fries, and another bottle of wine. It was poor. However, a lovely head waiter from Milan took us under his wing at that point and looked after us for the rest of our meal thank goodness. Also I was a bit surprised that there was no recognition of my husband and his friend’s birthday that day. I thought there may have been a truffle or birthday plate arrive but nothing. We love J Sheekey but this was definitely a bit of a disappointment for the majority of our meal experience.

The staff are just lovely. Warm, welcoming and attentive. The food is superb. Tikka masala prawns and monkfish was insane!! light flavorful, authentic and delicate. Fish pie, melt in the mouth and comforting, Bass perfectly cooked and seasoned. Thankyou J Sheekey as always! x
