In 1979, after over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Joe Impastato opened Impastato’s in Metaire. Only 5 years before, his brother Sal opened Sal and Judy’s in Lacombe. Now the family of restaurants extends to Madisonville with the opening of Impastato Cellars on September 5, 2013. The Impastato family decided to bring the same traditional, authentic Italian cuisine to the table on the Northshore along with the old world ambiance of a 600 square foot wine cellar featuring over 400 labels, in addition to a wide variety of spirits and craft beers.

Good spot for a variety of celebration reasons (anniversary, birthday, special occasion). Kids are welcome and were present - high chairs are available though the inside is intimate ambiance so be aware of that when considering bringing the littles. Service has been great, food is delicious and the whole experience was very welcoming.

Good food, excellent service. Pleasant atmosphere except for the loud patrons at the bar who were ruining the evening for the dinner guests.

Food and service was great but the Noise level was terrible. They sat us next to a very noisy party and it ruined the experience. The food was excellent

Food was delicious and our server was really good. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the telling my husband as his appetizer was brought out that he could not share with anyone at the table because the manager walks around watching and we would be charged extra if he was caught doing that. Never did we indicate that we were trying to share his tiny appetizer and we all ordered full meals and a few of us ordered cocktails. I can see if we were maybe teens trying to share at a buffet restaurant but we were 6 adults in a nice restaurant. Not sure why they feel that is appropriate to tell customers that are spending money on food what they can and can’t do with it when it comes to the table when you can also have your leftovers packed up to go. Food was good, it wasn’t the server’s fault but that rubbed me wrong.

Hello, Thank you so much for your feedback! We are so happy that you enjoyed your food as well as the service. It is not common practice to tell our customers that they cannot share and I'm so sorry you were told this. It is our policy that if you decide to share our 5-course meal, it is priced a la carte as opposed to the special price that is for one person to enjoy. Clearly you were not sharing a 5-course if everyone ordered their own entrees. I do apologize for being told this and any embarrassment it may have caused. Everything is so good at Impastato Cellars, we love the Joe's 5 course meal. We had lasagna on one side and the other had the Redfish Payton, both were amazing. The appetizers, pasta, salad and tiramisu / cheesecake were all delicious. Service was perfect, we will be back time and time again.

The service was great. Our waitress was helpful and informative especially regarding my food allergy. There were several gluten free entrées I could choose from but the food was average.

Nice first experience. Shrimp Capri was wonderful. Caesar salad was good. Redfish Payton was excellent. The cannoli was hard and cold - disappointing. But the banana cake with blueberries was delicious. Have heard we should have ordered the chocolate mousse cake. Will the next time.

Pasta was mushy, soggy, way over cooked. Service took forever. I got the 5 course and asked for the check before I got my desert.

Waitstaff was very attentive and kind. They were knowledgeable of the menu and helped us decide on what to get. There was a jazz singer there and it was very quaint and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Entire family got the 5 course. Soft shell, redfish and veal all excellent. Enough leftovers to bring home for all. Will be back.

Before tonight we had dined at Impaststos twice, and enjoyed our experience. After this evening we will never return. We arrive to the restaurant and it is raining outside, the indoor dining room is almost empty, except for two couples seated. The hostess walks us through the dining room and seats us in the back porch area, that is only screened in by plastic, crowded, and smells of mildew. We could not hear ourselves talk. My husband, knowing that the bill will be expensive, ventured back inside the dining room and requests that we be seated inside (there are still only 2 couples seated in the entire dining room at 7:30pm). We are moved inside. Our server is pleasant and attentive. She is the only positive part of our experience. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the Redfish Marcello. Our food was awful, bland, dry, and overpriced. Do not waste your money here. They will literally charge you $200 for reheated frozen fish and a seat outside in the rain.

It was great from beginning to end. 😋 Generous size cocktail , got the 5 course meal, also nice portions all the way to dessert 😋 Reasonably priced 🙂

I was very disappointed in the service and food. For the amount of money spent it should have been a wonderful expedience especially since we picked this restaurant to celebrate x3 Birthdays. I will probably never go back! Our female waitress definitely was ver forgetful and had to be reminded several times even to bring us menus! Really??? My husband complained to her and her reply was that they were understaffed!! Not the answer we should get!

Greeted by a sullen lady. Party of about 15 little girls kept running back and forth. Waiter on job only two days. He was very nice but should not have had to deal with a large number of tables AND the 15 little girls and their dad's. He could not remember what we ordered and after QUITE A WAIT we had to ask for our meals. One meal was served less than warm and had to be sent back. Meals were mediocre at best. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not return.

Greatest place to enjoy a great 5 course meal . The food is always great. Love this restaurant. Awesome staff and wine collection. We visit at least 1-2 times per month.

The food is good, and the 5 course options are the best value. The service was just okay, but not to the level you expect from the Impastato name. My drinks were not ordered when I asked for them, so I had to wait longer for the waitress to go order the drinks and wait for the bar to fix them. The wait time between courses got a little long one of the times and was given an excuse of busy night as to why. To me, it didn’t appear overly busy though. It’s a good restaurant that is a good option, I just have high expectations after eating at their other family restaurants Impastato’s and Sal and Judy’s, which both have impeccable service and food.

Our 2nd time dining at Impastatos. Truly a dining experience to remember. From the wine, apps and entree to the service and ambiance this restaurant will not disappoint even the most demanding dinners. Would highly recommend the veal dishes and order the blueberry banana pie with a cappuccino for dessert.

Second time eating there. Prices and flavor are second to none. We went prior to Christmas so service was crazy because it was very crowded. I think our server was overwhelmed. But, she was still great, just a little slower due to the crowd. Still, the best restaurant for the price and amount of food. Thanks

Absolutely one of the best restaurants on the North Shore. Best veal and seafood dishes anywhere. Great Ambiance, service, wine list and value for the money. Family owned and managed goes a long way. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my wife’s birthday. Ralph provided excellent service. We enjoyed the 5-course menu. My only complaint was that the red snapper was a bit fishy tasting and had a few bones. However, the crab over it minimized the fishiness. We will be back.

I made an online reservation for 5 Two guests of the five could not make it at the last minute, the owner would not seat me at my table that I reserved, due to this. I was told she would not give up her 5 top table for me since two backed out. Then proceeded to tell me, that if I still wanted to dine there I would have to wait for a table, even though I had a reservation, instead of giving me the table that I reserved. It was very unprofessional, and poor customer service. Did not try to accommodate at all, and didn’t care that they lost a great customer. Extremely disappointed ☹️
