In 1979, after over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Joe Impastato opened Impastato’s in Metaire. Only 5 years before, his brother Sal opened Sal and Judy’s in Lacombe. Now the family of restaurants extends to Madisonville with the opening of Impastato Cellars on September 5, 2013. The Impastato family decided to bring the same traditional, authentic Italian cuisine to the table on the Northshore along with the old world ambiance of a 600 square foot wine cellar featuring over 400 labels, in addition to a wide variety of spirits and craft beers.

First time visiting Impastato Cellars. I went on a rainy wednesday evening. Very nice atmosphere. They seemed to not be able to find my reservation, but that was not an issue. We were able to pick our table. Nice menu. I was unaware of the chef's tasting menu of 5 courses. Had I known about that item I would have not eaten a late lunch, and would have definitely tried that. The entire menu is reasonably priced and covers a wide range of food. We started with the trio of dipping sauces with the complimentary bread that was warm and fresh. We split the crabmeat stuffed Artichoke bottom appetizer. The two bottoms were large and tasty. The house salad included with our entrées was fresh and crisp, but nothing special. Our entries were Redfish Peyton and Veal Parmesan. Both were generous portions, served at a good temperature and tasty. We got our server's recommended house made dessert, blueberry banana cheesecake that was also a generous portion, rich and tasty. The wine list is nice also and priced so that you can find nice wines at very fair prices. Service was attentive and and pleasant. I will definitely return.

Soft shell crab and steak were very good. The appetizers were very good. The five-course meal is a lot of food - we all took leftovers home. The shrimp au gratin just wasn't what my wife expected. The server was excellent - going out of the way to accommodate my young grandson. We were seated on the rear patio and there was a large crowd at the adjacent table. I found the room to be uncomfortably loud. Despite these issues I will plan a return at some point.

Dining room fairly empty, but we (a couple) we seated at a 4 top right next to loud table of 4. Had several other 2 and 4 tops empty.

Good spot for a variety of celebration reasons (anniversary, birthday, special occasion). Kids are welcome and were present - high chairs are available though the inside is intimate ambiance so be aware of that when considering bringing the littles. Service has been great, food is delicious and the whole experience was very welcoming.

Good food, excellent service. Pleasant atmosphere except for the loud patrons at the bar who were ruining the evening for the dinner guests.
