Herb provides fine Thai dining in the Chicago area. The chefs use the freshest and highest-quality ingredients (mostly organic) while at the same time injecting their passion for the culinary arts in each and every dish. The restaurant itself is the creation of Patty Neumson, who grew up in Thailand. She has developed four seasonal menus for Herb that guests can order from, depending on the time of year. Herb has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognition for its cuisine. Winner of Guy Fieri's 'Spiciest Episode', and Chef battle '18. Won Best 100 Dishes in Chicago from Time Out Magazine. '15-'18 Michelin recommended restaurant. Zagat Rated in '17 as Best Restaurant. As seen on channel 5, 7, 9, and 11.

We loved everything about the dinner, except that there was an unexpected corkage fee for BYOB. This was not disclosed online or on the menu. In fact, online it encourages patrons to bring their own alcohol, and only when we arrived did we learn that the restaurant has a recently received liquor license, and therefore is serving alcohol. The charge was not disclosed to us when we sat down. Having said that, the dining was excellent.

Arrived on time for our 7 pm reservation. At 7:35, after repeated requests to place our order but having no one engage us, we got up and left. This place has always been weird but the food could be nice, even if the menu never changes. But if you can’t get the food, there’s no point in going and so I’ll never return.

We were there for an hour before our order was taken, two+ hours and had to leave without the main course and dessert because we had a show that we would be late for. Something is definitely not going well for this team. The food was good, what we had of our order, but could NOT make up for lack in ambiance (SO SO loud) and totally disfunctional team. Paid our bill begrudgingly with no take-away. We were heartily disappointed considering the Eater recommendation and Michelin guide rating.

The chef has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand 8 years in a row! The food is consistently creative and delicious. (Especially the "Chef's Whim" dessert!) The chef draws inspiration from the Northern, North-Central, Central, and Southern regions of Thailand.

Took 30 minutes to be greeted after being seated. Found a black hair in the cup of rice. Food tasted good but had no appetite after finding hair in our food. They turned off the music at 9 so it had an awkward silence the last hour of our dinner. Very interesting night, will not be returning.

Food was excellent but service was slow. They have a 5 course pre-fix menu. We had to wait for over 40 minutes for dessert and check.
