Probably the best preparation of pork belly we’ve ever had and the gnocci was outstanding! Excellent service, zero pretense for a michelin star restaurant and very moderately priced for what the experience is. Can’t recommend enough! Bon apetite!!!!

Food was good and the service excellent the pork is very good but we ordered the roasted oyster and marrow and 5 out of 6 oysters had broken shell in the oysters. I’ve had plenty of raw oysters in my life and hardly ever shell in them. For this caliber of restaurant they need to do better. They did comp us for the app. So that was a plus.

This restaurant hit the trifecta! Excellent service, delicious food and stellar ambience. Our server, Justin was very attentive and gave great recommendations throughout our dining experience. We really enjoyed the gnocchi, mushroom, hamachi and sea bass. We will be back!!!

We went to Herb & Wood because they had advertised a Blue Fin Tuna 4-course special for $65. My husband had that but I chose not to because once I read the menu, everything except the lemon tart dessert had quite a bit of spice added to the other courses and I don't like spicy food at all. Instead, I opted for the beet & strawberry salad and the Ibérico pork entree. The salad was ok - lacked a good dressing and was a bit flat. The pork was good, but the preparation is now different from what used to be on their menu. The menu indicated that apple mostarda was included and I remember from past experiences, that was very good. However, this time, I only tasted pork that was a bit overdone and the cannellini beans that were overdressed with an oily sauce of some sort. I don't think I'd order this dish again. My husband did love this Blue Fin tuna special and the lemon tart served for dessert was delicious (yes, we shared that one!!) We don't often go to Herb & Wood because frankly, they are a bit pricey. However, my husband was so happy with his selection that I think that Blue Fin tuna will bring us back again! Also, I must say that service was outstanding. They employ so many people - you barely take a swallow of water before someone is at your table refilling your glass! Everyone is very friendly and well trained in dealing with the public. Kudos to Brian Malarkey and his management team!

The food, was always, was excellent. Our server was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant has an interesting vibe and decor in an old converted building, but the high ceilings make it a bit noisy.

What a unique and wonderful experience. Everything we ordered was exceptional and exceeded our expectations. In addition, the customer service was outstanding - our server, Calvin, was very accommodating. We ordered the swordfish and pork belly, and both were the best we ever ever had. Highly recommend!

What a pleasant surprise! Good service and great food puts it into our short list places to have an "indulgent" meal. Best Bone Marrow in ages, and the small, sweet Grilled Oysters with it were perfect. While pricey, we definitely felt it was worth the money. Like most modern restaurants it got noisy once it started to fill up, but that's part of why we like to eat early and get in before the rush. Calvin and the whole crew were attentive and professional.

Great food and cocktails! The Roasted Branzino was delish - love fish without bones! The roasted oysters & bone marrow… bone marrow great but warm oysters threw me off. Yuck. But hubby liked it.

I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always amazing, service is attentive, and the restaurant is beautiful. It was a great place for Mother's Day brunch!

We came in for Mother’s Day Brunch 2024 and were pretty disappointed. The spirit-free drinks were the best part of the meal. Food was under seasoned, underwhelming and lacking in general. My husband had the pork belly and steak/eggs. I had the crab cakes and shrimp/grits. Our 2 year old had French toast (btw the kid’s meal was $30 and shares potatoes and fruit with you). Food service was really slow and they forgot our pastries. We had to remind our waiter when she brought us our check. She did apologize and packed it to go for us so that’s why I gave it 1 star.

My girl and I went here for a date night & we were blown away by the food! The oysters and bone marrow were really good! Some of the best oysters we’ve ever had! The grilled Pork plate was a 10/10! Hush puppy dessert was a must! Really good food would highly recommend ! Can’t wait to come back

The ambiance was on point! Emilia, our waitress was very nice, on top of everything, and friendly! We ordered the hamachi for our appetizer! It was really yummy! I think it was the best part of our meal. I ordered Branzino for my entree and roasted carrots and king trumpet mushrooms to share as side dishes. My husband ordered the Iberican pork and enjoyed it but he thinks it needed a bit more chimichurri sauce. I enjoyed my Branzino, the mushrooms, and the roasted carrots but I find all 3 to be one dimensional in flavor. Same flavor and spices throughout seem like. They also have a great selection of wine but we brought our own. I will definitely still come back and maybe try something else, hopefully they would have various but distinct flavors that would stand out more on each plate.

Had a great experience with family celebrating a college graduation. Staff device was the best I have experienced in quite some time. Given the size of the restaurant and number of customers. I was surprised that the restaurant was able to maintain the level of quality and service. Highly recommend dining at this restaurant.

The food and drinks were delicious! Our main server was very attentive. However, the servers that bring out the food should be a bit more conscious of how they bring out the food. Slamming the dish on the table and running away is not okay. Herb & Wood is a restaurant we like to visit at least once a year. We will definitely be back.

The interior was very cute and chic. The noise is a little loud but that’s too be expected since it was busy and there were many people inside. The servers were great and the food was delicious. Everything from the drinks, appetizers, entrees and desert, was so good!

First time there. Had 90 minutes before catching David Sedaris over at the Balboa Theater. The service was prompt, friendly, attentive and the whole experience was nice, timed perfectly for or show needs, and we were able to really enjoy the meal and time there. Cocktails, specialty of the night was amazing. The Lamb Ragu was very good as was the fish. Great experience. Would go back.

First experience at Brian Malarkey restaurant and I was not blown away. Beautiful Little Italy space but extremely loud during 630pm dinner reservations. Could barely hear the server tell us about the specials and had to ask her to repeat herself several times. Started the meal with the signature and highly recommended pork belly. Found it over salted and on the dry side. The vandouvan aioli lacked complexity and only really served to give the pork jerky some moisture. I was also disappointed by the apples which did not lend any of the expected sweetness I was looking for. Overall, lackluster one note dish. I had the roasted branzino and this dish was really outstanding. Tender and flaky, the crispiness of the speck (as skin) was very unexpected. I also loved the complexity of the olive and herb tapenade. My dinner companion had the beef cheek tagine with the recommended side of pita. Lovely savory dish. Beef was, again, a bit on the drier side. The yogurt in the middle added a nice creaminess and acidity. What was also interesting was the pillowy pita. I have to say, this was a nice interpretation that I was not use to and was an excellent vehicle to soak up the sauce. My companion and I also shared the cappalletti with braised rabbit, parmesan cream, English peas, and mint. Had a hard time finding the flavor in this dish. Did not taste the rabbit or mint at all. Very one-note dish that I regretted ordering. Service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the loud environment really made any interaction with her or my dinner companion disappointing. Total cost of meal for two including cocktails, bottle of wine and food, approx $300. Would I go back? Probably not.

We were greeted by name and everyone seemed to know it was our anniversary, from the hostess stand to the person walking us to our table to our waiter. Unfortunately, I am allergic to gluten and although the menu didn't have gf marked, the wait staff was well informed and basically all the entrees and veggie dishes were naturally gf and in the case of pizzas, they offered gf crust. Their pastas were the only thing not gf. We had the branzino, trumpet mushrooms, caulilini and butter lettuce salad with the strawberry souffle for dessert. Everything was very good with lots of herbs. A little heavy on the oil and I wish there was a little bit of a citrus element to brighten things up, but still, very good and we would definitely recommend H&W.

Sensational gustatory experience last night. Between the goat cheese and pork belly appetizers and the branzino and gnocchi entrees—-we had a fantastic experience. Will go again for sure. Recommend without hesitation.

Fantastic, food, ambiance and service. Chef Malarkey paid a visit to our table to say hi and make sure all was well…it certainly was. We have always had great food and good times at Herb & Wood; a great value as well. We will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable and fun dining experience!

The ambience was great. The service and the staff were absolutely amazing. I was a little disappointed with our meal. The food looked beautiful, although everything was over salted and over priced. 😕 it was our 10th anniversary, and the dessert that they brought us actually was really good! I’m not sure that I would go there again.

Herb and wood is my #1 pick in the city. It always has outstanding food and service. It is a little too loud but I know that now so I expect it, it just makes it hard to have a conversation with friends. It is the best food in the city and 5 star service which is equally important to food in my book. I bring all my visitors here!

The server was great. I didn’t like the beef cheek. It was burnt and didn’t have a lot of meat. Portion was small. Wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a selection of dishes and loved them all. Branzino was outstanding. Can be a bit noisy but we were seated on the less noisy side. Definitely recommend and will be back.
